The kind of shooter you play when you want to play a shooter, but you don't want to focus and compete.

Gamemodes are fun, rounds are just long enough, environments are nice and some are interactive. You have all weapons, so you don't have to dedicate to playing a certain class. Your weapons have a cooldown/regenerate ammo system so you can't abuse the rocket launcher and such.

I don't often like platformers, but decided to give this one a try because of the 98% positive reviews (out of 9707).

There's a lot of subtle humor in the game, which is always a bonus. Bossfights are challenging enough without getting really hard. A few tries are needed but it doesn't get frustratingly difficult. There are quite some extra activities in each level, so the game doesn't get repetitive after a while. The interactivity with certain objects (sometimes useful, sometimes just filler) fleshes out the levels even more, without overdoing it. Puzzles and challenges are never trial and error, there is always a logical way to solve things. The music doesn't get annoying, the menus are fitting for the game and they work intuitively.

There is optional splitscreen co-op and options for activating a speed-run timer and to auto-skip cutscenes.
Would recommend, even if you don't like platformers. Especially recommended to play in the couch and co-op with wives or girlfriends ;)

I don't usually like platformers, but this game had that extra something which made it really enjoyable to me.

Played during the free weekend.

Didn't play very long, so this impression might be wrong. Seems like it's the kind of game that has a learning curve, but falls under 'easy to learn hard to master' after overcoming the initial bump. I recommend it because it seems interesting, allthough I'm not going to put in the time that is needed to learn how to play the game. Someone else might have the time to spare, though.

The interface does require some getting used to, but I can see it working out for this kind of game. It's also a promising feature. Some games can get rather complicated and those can't just simply have a simple UI. I'm certain it will become intuitive by the time the tutorials are finished.

I've heard good feedback about the developers as well; apparently support is still ongoing (including new content) after 10 years. Soase:Rebellion is listed on steam as 'released in 2012', but that's supposed to be a complete edition with all content created up until that point.

TL;DR:
If you've got the time to spare and love space 4X, this should be worth at least a try. If you don't want to sink in too much time, keep it in your 'followed list' until you've time to spare.

I recommend the game, but keep in mind that player count is low-ish.

Reinstalled after quite a while to play the green army men event, as it seemed very interesting. Waited 15 minutes for a server but there was either no free spot or there just wasn't anyone playing.

The normal gamemodes had servers up which are populated, though! So don't let lower player count deter you from enjoying this game. There are always enough players playing to fill a few servers, and you only need one ;)

Gunplay feels good, graphics look good, controls are enjoyable and sound is fine too.

Fun with friends. Steeper learning curve when playing with (more experienced) randoms.

Price is way too steep, though. Should be at least halved (currently 23€). I would find about 8€ to be a fair price, with a maximum of 12-13€. On the other hand, the dev could add some extra maps, gamemodes, etc. to justify the pricing.

A roguelite with both short and long(er) missions.

Great variety in items to use, many with interesting drawbacks. An example is one of the types of teleporters, which brings you back to your original location after 2 seconds. Different objectives and enemy types keep missions varied and offer new challenges.

If you're interested, but you don't know if you should buy it: Try it! You'll know whether you like it within two hours, easily. I haven't gotten many hours into the game yet, but I can imagine it offering easily dozens of hours of entertainment.

I just want to shoot nazis, not 'care about characters' and all that. Wolfenstein isn't a feels franchise, so don't make it one.
