Home is where the game is

Let's start of by saying what I need to say about Homefront. Homefront is an unbalanced and a bit rough game that feels unfinished. And that's the main problem me, and many, others had with this game. It sounds a bit silly recommending a game after starting the review with negative things. Why would I recommend this game then? Why should you buy this game then?

The first thing that comes to my mind about Homefront is an abandoned puppy, left with no food, no shelter and left alone in a calm understanding of failure in it's head. You can still see the hope, the brief moment of love it got in it's eyes. If you can open your heart to the sad and helpless Homefront you are treated with a pretty mediocre yet fun FPS experience.

Homefront does a lot of things wrong. But at the same time Homefront does things right. Well, mostly a thing or two. Homefront is a really really mediocre game. It doesn't have any magnificient plot. It doesn't have original, revolutionary gameplay mechanics. But it does have style. And that's enough to cover the worse things with the game behind a well designed and stylized environment.

Homefront deserves a spot of some sort among the FPS genre. It's nothing great. And part of it may be in the way developers treated the game. You can see the partial laziness and the lack of trust on their product made them lose interest in the game and went with the basic idea of every FPS game nowadays; "Let's make another one of these" was their motivation to even make Homefront.

Homefront is certainly worth buying if you are in need of a short yet stylized single-player FPS game. Even with it's mediocre gameplay it still manages to entertain for hours with it's challenging Achievements.

Addicting Bullet Nonsense

Drunken Robot Pronography... I... I don't really know how to explain this game to you. No, it doesn't have anything to do with pornography. Yes, it does have something to do with drunken robots. Or at least I think so.

Drunken Robot Pornography is a FPS-arcade-bullet-hell. And that's pretty much it. There's not much else going on with the game besides a pretty absurd and nonexistent plot. Don't get me wrong. The plot is fun but it's only a shell around the game. It doesn't enhance the experience by any means but gives you a couple of good laughs throughout the game. The gameplay is the thing in this game.

The gameplay of Drunken Robot Pornography is fun, original and tight. Even though the key gameplay elements are simple the hyperactive tempo of the gameplay and amount of things you need to keep track of you soon realize the controls are fine as they are. It's the eye coordination you need to get going.

But truthfully it's not the gameplay, nor the interesting title, but the transition between FPS game and a bullet-hell game. Drunekn Robot Pornography is the first proper FPS-bullet-hell game to be released and that's the main selling point of this game. Drunken Robot Pornography has it's flaws but because of how well they managed to create a FPS-bullet-hell game is amazing. If you've ever enjoued playing games like Touhou or eXceed and are looking for a bit different kind of experience you should try this game out.

A right step forward, a good step backwards

Back when I was browsing a certain Scandinavian video game online store I came across a game called Worms Reloaded. At first I couldn't believe my eyes. How could've I missed this game? I decided to take a look what kind of game it was. Seeing only a single screenshot I knew I had to get this game. It reminded me of the simpler times. It reminded me about my old Pentium 2 PC that just barely ran Worms Armageddon.

Worms Reloaded is a 2D-strategy game developed by Team 17. The game features a team based action-strategy experience where you have to eliminate the enemy team with wacky and fun wepaons. Those of you who are not familiar what makes Worms game differ from other strategic games is the way weapons, items and environment change the phase of the gameplay. You can use your weapons for dealing damage or blasting your way through dirt. Weapons can be used to modify your surrondings and tools can be used as deadly weapons. The way you use the gadgets you are given is the key to fun and challenging gameplay.

The game features different kind of game modes ranging from basic campaing missions to elimination game mode towards more challenging game modes like time trials and puzzles. There's a lot of thing to do and is definetly worth playing even as a single-player experience.

Even though Worms Reloaded could be argued to be a modern Worms game it still feels right and controls like a classic 2D-Worms game. It even pays homage to older Worms games by including some older maps in the game. And that makes Worms Reloaded worth buying. It is well made. It is fresh. It is amazing.

Lastly, as a bit of a personal suggestion, I would suggest for you to get the DLCs. I usually never get them but seeing how many hours they add to the game (easily 50 hours) it is more than advised for you to get them if you enjoyed the base game.

I was thinking about maybe making my reviews a little bit more in-depth but boy, did I pick wrong game to review next...
https://youtu.be/kewnHZCCdko
I wanted to record gameplay for this review. But when this clip was the only interesting enough to be shown to public we know there's something wrong with the game.

Uncrowded is an asset flip game. All the recources that were used in this game can be bought from the Unity asset store which is mainly used for personal fun, educational purposes or getting idea and tips on making your own game. Unfortunately there are no laws against altering thing or two from a pre-made asset and the releasing it as a full game.

In short, aviod this game. I'm depressed enough to even talk about the gamplay, if there even is a bit of it, and just straight tell you avoid this game like it's plague. Not worth your time, money or your good mood.

Review updated October 8. 2017
I'm getting tired of the new updates. This game seems like utter crap judging from the videos and probably is. I am not even trying to enjoy this anymore. Oh, and they increased the price from free to 3.99€! How fun is that...

EDIT: The game seems to beupdated to another asset flip. Why hasn't this game been removed from the Steam Store already?

Voxelized has gotten quite a few updates since I've last played it. It certainly look better than the first version I played. Unfortunately, Voxelized is still a empty game. There's nothing to do. There's no goal. The sandbox is more useless than the demo version of Minecraft.

Overall, a game that looks surprisingly beautiful but still lacks content. I actually found less actual content from this current version of the game than the first one. I right step forward but right now Voxelized won't surpass Minecraft in any way. Voxelized is still unfinished. And I really do hope they will continue updating the game. And I really do hope they'll make something that will make Voxelized it's own unique experience. Not just another Minecraft clone.

A rather unsatisfying experience.

Borderlands 2: Headhunter 4: Wedding Day Massacre is a short DLC that gives you a sigle map to explore with 2 Missions only. The level design of the DLC was quite fun but everything else falls quite flat.

The biggest problem I had with this DLC was the writing. It was awful. Just awful. I'm not really sure why they thought it would be fun to help the NPCs in the DLC when in the end you just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill everyone. Yeah I know, the name of the DLC is Wedding Day Massacre but still, could they have at least used a tiny bit of imagination and originality into the writing of this DLC?

The only reason to get this DLC is to get the pretty neat looking Head upgrade and play the DLC through as Krieg because the dialogue on Krieg was the only best part abot it. Other than that I would recommend you to avoid this one if you didn't like the overall style of humor in Borderlands 2. This DLC is worse than writing in the main game...

As much as I like the graphics and the unique idea behind this game I can't recommend it to anyone.

Nux is a old-school Shoot 'Em Up mixed with action-platforming and cave flying levels. It's an interesting idea to have different kind of levels in one game and it almost works. Just almost.

Nux is pretty broken game in many ways. Sound only comes from one side (no, your headset is not broken), the balance of the game is very strange making the game not feel fluent and a little bit weird to hop in to a new level that has compeletely new design, speed and style to play it.

I guess Nux is worth picking up if you plan on buying the Platypus Mega Pack which has two pretty great games (Platypus 1 and 2) but as a standalone game Nux doesn't hold up to it's high price. Even though 6€ isn't that bad price for a game nowadays it is still high price for Nux.

TL;DR
A must have FREE game. Go download this unforgettable experience right flippin' now. You will not regret it. Everything is so great about this if you have the time to dwell deeper in to the story and not just stop after one playthrough. It will just leave you empty. Trust me! The game is worth every hour you play it.

Everlasting Summer - an unforgettable experience rather than your regular visual novel
I never thought a game, or rather a novel, could actually give me such strong emotional reactions over the stuff that happens in it. Everlasting Summer, on the other hand, fixed it.

Everlasting Summer tells a story about a male, Semyon, who gets on a bus and falls asleep. Rather than waking up in the bus or the bus station he wakes up in a pioneer camp not knowing how he got there and why he is there. From this point the story takes a huge leap to more and more absurd things to happen.

I'm not really a heavy reader. I don't read much. But for some reason Everlasting Summer kept me interested, kept me enetertained, kept me wanting to see more. There hasn't been a story that could make me lose my sleep just to see what's next. There hasn't been a story that actually made me focus on it without noticing my surroundings. There hasn't been a story that could actually get heavy emotions out of me.

The visuals, the writing, the soundtrack. Without these three key elements the story wouldn't have been so powerful. All these elements merged into a one epic and unforgettable experience I won't forget in a long time. Everything worked and behaved so well between each other creating even a physical feel at times. Now, I won't spoil anything about the game but there are parts, especially in your first playthrough, which will, or at least I hope, make you feel just like the characters in the story feel at the particular moment. It may be a little bit of cheating adding audio-visual elements in to a written story but because Everlasting Summer is such an absurd tale having you rush through different kinds of emotions you really need to have something to strenghten the emotions, in good and bad.

Now for the part which is about the story or the theme of the game. Show the spoiler in order to view it. I won't spoil the actual plot but I will be explaining the basic elements in each storyline, which may or may not affect your first playthrough experiance.

Everlasting summer isn't just your typical tale about going to a summer camp, or a pioneer camp in this case, finding a girl and getting it on with her. Oh no, not even close to being one! Or maybe I'm just praising this a little bit too much because the main storylines are about getting the girl you want which will affect the rest of your life. In a good way or a bad way depending on which enging you got. But that's what makes playing the main storylines interesting, getting a glimpse of the absurd happenings in the camp and after the camp, each time revealing something new about the story and Semyon's life.

The fun doesn't stop there though, quite the opposite actually. After unlocking all the good endings with all the girls in the camp and your own good ending you are now able to complete (???) and Harem ending, which will explain the plot furthermore. These endings will give you more answers. These ending will give out the plot and theme of the game. They construct the story all over again and make you think more deeply about the story rather than just seeing it as a dating simulator (although it's pretty obvious to see everything is not right in the camp. These endings just give you more answers, as I said above).

Now for my own thought about the story and theme. Spoilers (again)!

I'm not really 100% sure what the theme of the game was but the theme I got out of this game was finding yourself, knowing what means being you, what you personally think you need in your own life. The secret (???) ending will give you this idea pretty clearly. And the free DLC (which can be located from Options and scrolling down to Mods) will give you even more answers and supporting ideas over this theme. The game is about understanding your life, making lifetime decisions, deciding what makes you... YOU! A really pwerful motivational theme over a wonderfully attractive game visual and audio wise.

After completing the main storylines you will be left with unanswered questions (which I talked about behind those spoilers) but there are a couple of more secret storylines to enlighten you about the whole story. As I said, it's more than just a dating simulator. It much more deeper than that. And the (???) ending, Harem ending and a free DLC ending, which can be located from the Options menu scrolling down to the bottom in the Mod section called 'Pioneer's Day', will give you all the answers you need regarding to the story. I strongly recommend playing the DLC after getting all the storyline achievements.

And for all the perverts out there, yes, I tried out the Hentai-patch which, surprisingly, didn't ruin the game. It doesn't really add anything new to the table other than some boobs and a couple of sex scenes but if you truly are playing this game for the story you will not find the scenes sexually appealing in any way.

Everlasting Summer was one of the very few Visual Novels I've played but I still could say Everlasting Summer will end up as one of my favourite games of all time for years to come. Maybe even to the day I die.

Let's just clear one thing right off the bat. The PC port of Saints Row 2 is just horrendous. But it doesn't mean Saints Row 2 would be a bad game.

Saints Row 2 is in my opinion the best Saints Row game in the series and is well worth the full price since the story missions will last easily for 18 hours on your first playthrough and getting 100% will take probably up to 30 hours. There's a lot to do and lot to play with but I personally thought the story missions were the strong point of the game. The missions were fun and varied quite a lot. Boss fights were fun yet a little too easy. But that isn't really a big downside since the other missions are so strong.

I recommend Saints Row 2 to everyone if you are willing to look past it's problems (which can be fixed with mods, by the way) and give it a shot. You will not regret buying this game.

I really thought playing this game would be having the other hand down the pants and the other hand on the mouse. But I was surprised it didn't turn out like that.

HuniePop certainly isn't a perfect game. It's a really good game with some unpolished spots all around it. HuniePop features a dating like mode where you can talk to the girls, earn Hunie (which can be used for upgrades) and give them gifts. Then there is the "actual gameplay" part, shich are the dates. The dates are played through Bejeweled-like puzzles which get harder and harder each time you succesfully complete one date. After each date you unlock a special "reward"...

For me, the selling point was the cheery idea behind the game, fun dialogue and good graphics but I just personally feel like the developers count on the "rewards" side a little bit too much... What are the rewards you may ask? They are straight up hentai/ecchi pictures which are then stored to your storage where you can admire all the pictures whenever you want. I'm not saying the pictures didn't affect me. They certainly added some kind of reason to keep playing the game and wanting to see what you unlock next.

Overall, HuniePop is a very fun and addicting game and has all your needs covered wether it be a quick wank or a quick Bejeweled round. Worth picking up from sale but I wouldn't recommend this game on full price. The game repeats a lot after a while but surprisingly doesn't get boring. The puzzle mode is just that good.
