Writing this review based on the Next Fest demo.
Certainly an oddball game.
Made by NITROPLUS which is mostly known for it's VNs (infamously Saya no Uta) or their mascot Super Sonico.
A Mecha Musume game with the core gameplay reminiscent of old Armored Core games (rotating your mech is directly tied to how light your mecha is, something Armored Core 6 was criticized for by it's vet audience).
With the level design and progression loop of Dark Souls 1. Literally in the first minute of gameplay you can find a closed door that says "does not open from this side". I opened this door literally at the end of the demo (featured in the Next Fest). Has it's version of a bonfire and interconnected explorable areas, is more of a soulslike than more recent FromSoft games.
Quite the old-school experience with a very certain presentation- anime style mixed with post-apo crumbling empty city aesthetic, kind of like BLAME! or NaissanceE.
The graphics aren't really anything to write home about and clearly wasn't designed with that in mind, but judging by the recommended specs that also means you will be able to at least play it on a microwave, whether it's a downside or a pro is for you to judge.

The one glaring problem is with KBM controls, unlike some other games that have you pilot vehicles, the vehicle will usually play "catch up" with the center of your screen.
This game unfortunately directly caps your camera speed to the turn speed of your mech, so it will feel EXTREMELY awkward to play this with a mouse, where your mouse input will be pretty much "eaten" by the game if you swipe it too fast for the mecha to turn.

Interesting and fun game both in terms of gameplay but also exploration, as mentioned earlier, scratches that itch for both old Armored Core and Dark Souls 1.

Deserves so much more recognition for doing a combo of armored core, dark souls, and nier....really loving it so far

8.5/10 game, feels and plays like a love letter to 2000-2010s FROMSOFT games. Heavily inspired by FROMSOFT's Armored Core series with a dash of Dark Souls sprinkled on top.
