Always see these guys as Space Echidnas. they look it. Spiny and furry, but with the Monotreme bill like the Echidna and Platypus.

The devs call them evil porcupines. I put together a side mod to this with new/remixed clothes, gotta upload it at some point.

Added two more variants. So two white-grey color variants and one melanistic/dark black variant. If anything borks lemme know.
