I just updated everything for 2.0, so the red warning shouldn't be a problem anymore. But to answer your question: yeah, music mods should always be compatible.
@Jordy
I'm adding the track to my "to-do" list. I'm lazy AF though so it might take a while... :/
Ah I see. It is a bit different from the other tracks. Though I admit, I prefer the second track to the first, since it's the one I remember most when running around the Wards.
Apparently Steam unsubscribed me from this thread (or I misclicked and unchecked it myself), so I totally missed your comment until now. Really sorry about that.
I don't remember why I didn't use that second Wards track. I probably judged it to be a tiny bit too groovy when I was making the mod.

This mod has the first one, not the second one.
@Panda Bamboo Roll
I tried a few. Some I had to pay, but these days I roll with http://media.io/
It does a good job, is free, is online, no hassle... Works well enough for me. :)
@icytux
It is, it's called "New Worlds"
I just realized (while updating the mod) that Wards is already in there. ;P
As for The Illusive Man, I opted to keep it into the original mod only for now. I think I'll keep this one as light as possible, now that we have the music player and that we can check/uncheck songs at will!
Hey, thanks for stopping by man!
"The Illusive Man" is in the original (Epic Mix) mod, but I'll agree it could belong in here just as well. I might add it the next time I have to re-upload the mod. :)
It should be updated for 1.2.5
If you're using an older version, it might say there are compatibility issues. Just ignore the warning and play away: it is midly annoying, but music mods should be compatible with any and all versions and mods. (There are a few exceptions, but pretty rare.)
Yeah, I actually agree with you. I often just stop playing and simply listen to it for a while when it pops on, but it doesn't fit all that well. I might remove it when I next update the mod.
You mean how do I create these mods?
It's pretty easy. Look at the songs.asset and songs.txt files in your Stellaris/music/ folder, and... do the exact same thing over and over with soundtracks. Done. ;)
Oh man!! Maybe even a Jerry Goldsmith 'Alien' list. Now someone needs to make an 'Alien' mod so you can play as a Xenomorph...
It's in my list, actually! No promises and definitely no ETA, but eventually you'll see it happen!
You could then add yet another one like the Music Pack or the Interstellar Soundtrack , but those two follow an "old" files naming system and will conflict with each other (but not with the mods I listed in the other paragraph though.)
What Bofrost said.
One thing to note is that the first track to play, when launching the game, will always be Stellaris' main theme, so give it a few minutes. It's also always possible for the game to randomly choose 2 or 3 tracks from the Stellaris' soundtrack in a row, giving the impression that the mod is broken.
Let me know if you're still having issues!
Select Mod tab.
Click on Mod until highlighted.
Close Launcher.
Open Launcher again and play game.
Enjoy.
