No, it's purely cosmetic. But modifying the rnw textures somehow changes the checksum, thus making it not "ironman compatible".

wait so does this actually add new new worlds or something or not? because what reason does it have then to not be ironman compatible

You need to start a new game and have the DLC active that adds the random new world option.

@buchno: I guess the only way is to ask paradox to make a modified RNW water texture achievement compatible. :(

You directed us here to fix the water in the main mod when you have RNW enabled. However, this add-on disables achievements. Is there any way to fix the water without disabling achievements?
