I don't have a link to the guide I used anymore, but here's two that explain:

Basically just click the folder icon from asset creation, then replace the asset_thumb.png. The rest of the thumbnail variations should be generated automatically. I also replaced the asset_thumb_focused.png since the auto-blueing is pretty ugly.
