"Simcity"
Wait, that's illegal
AmeliaRose 7.4.2019 klo 12.20
For me, it only generates 160 MW

Please make the service buildings from sc3000 as well!!!

Any plans on updating this for the night time?
Drinking Gasoline 8.7.2015 klo 16.36
in game it only produces 20mw for me. wtf. FIX thanks
BayneRav 31.5.2015 klo 23.11
Simply reedit the asset with lower parameters, Next all it becomes is a standalone powerline!
DRen72 12.5.2015 klo 18.34
+1 for radio telescope
Outbreak42 3.4.2015 klo 22.09
Could put a bunch of these together to make a giant radio telescope and count as observatory or science center. :)

yeeEEEEEES
bishop149 1.4.2015 klo 3.44
Any chance of a version of this as a unique building with no power generation?
I like the model don't especially want it as a powerplant!

Such a blast from the past.

Thank you!

Orbital microwave space power. Amazing, just perfect.
Felidae 21.3.2015 klo 15.52
OMG!!!! Friggin awesome... That probably explains why Cities Skylines is the best city builder yet... If the game doesnt have it, the people will make it... Now we have awesome radar dishes... oh ya!!!

You did a good, good thing here. All my love and favorites! Thank you for making these!

We need natural gas power plant :)
Yazawa Miho 19.3.2015 klo 15.49
oh thx

plz make

oil power plant & natural gas power plant

@Doughnut Well I'm going to attempt to run the game on Windows and see if it works. The latest patch for the game makes the game run really smooth under Linux, but I don't see why this wouldn't work. All of the mods and other assets run fine, but things like this (or new unique buildings) don't show up. :/
Pietje  [tekijä] 19.3.2015 klo 10.20
@Kain, as far as I know the Linux build for this game functions a little less smoothly than the developers had anticipated. I'm on windows, so I'm afraid I can't really be of any value when troubleshooting your Linux install.
BakiDance 19.3.2015 klo 9.54
@Doughnut I restarted my game and it's still not there. The content manager shows it as active, however. Which menu would this be in? (I'm on Linux, could this be apart of anything..?)
Pietje  [tekijä] 19.3.2015 klo 8.46
@Kain, restart your game and check your Content Manager. Should work if it is present and checked!
BakiDance 19.3.2015 klo 8.22
I subscribed but I don't see it in any of the menus. Did I forget something? :(

@Wintermote, your reasoning is sound, though unfortunately you are in the minority. What I'll do is, I'll make another instance of this plant with realistic specifications so you and others can decide which one you like best.

@Zonkis, that stuff is crazy! Thank you for this. I'm adding it to the slideshow right now.

Hey I have an image for you for your slideshow I just made.

Wintermote 18.3.2015 klo 13.59
Doughnut, here are the principles of microwave rectennas:
1. Satellites are put in orbit to get sunlight, increasing efficiency significantly (no atmosphere filtering light - 144% increase, and nearly 24/7 light exposure)
2. These satellites beam the power back to earth using microwaves at a frequency which will pass through the atmosphere
3. A ground station rectenna receives these microwaves and converts them into electricity at 90%+ efficiency

The benefit of a rectenna over traditional photovoltaic:
- More space efficient (A 2x2km array in space can beam power to a 100m dish on the ground)
- Low installation cost/cheaper (unless you pay for the satellite as well)
Wintermote 18.3.2015 klo 13.58
The expensive part of rectennas are the solar satellites in orbit - if you assume that those are already bought/paid for, then rectennas are stupidly cheap to build. If you assume they aren't, then it's stupidly expensive. (but low on maintenance, either way)

Water shouldn't be necessary for cooling - the high efficiency and relatively low energy (5-20MW per satellite) means there isn't much waste heat.

For balance reasons, I'd probably include the price of the satellite with the rectenna. It would thus essentially be (in gameplay terms) a solar power station in a smaller space at a much higher cost. Perhaps something like:

4x4
$100,000
20 MW
$300 /wk maintenance
kraftwerkd 18.3.2015 klo 12.40
Oh my god, you're the man. I love this.
Siywill 18.3.2015 klo 12.10
Great work, Doughnut. In my opinion, the stats are OK. Your reasoning of the water use sounds plausible, so I like it as you made it. Even a higher water usage is OK.
Pietje  [tekijä] 18.3.2015 klo 3.43
@Wintermote & @Heavy, if you feel the stats should be different, can you suggest replacement stats?

Also, to justify my decision on this. Balancing this one is difficult. It's an unconventional way of harnessing energy from micro waves. I assumed this type of energy collection creates friction due to the 'micro'-waves, thus heating up elements and requiring a lot of coolant. For gameplay purposes I simply translated that to the use of water. As for the power outage, I agree it should be a little lower, but since many peeps suggested this plant to be REALLY big (12x12 grid blocks) I settled for a higher output. Wouldn't be a reasonable investment otherwise.
Sevvy 18.3.2015 klo 3.06
Added to my Simcity 3000 Collection! GREAT work.
BleachHawk 18.3.2015 klo 2.53
Looking great, but I don't like the stats either :(
JoRx 18.3.2015 klo 2.50
@wintermote - stats are same as the nuclear plant, so actually the stats are UNDERPOWERED because it takes up a lot more room [12x12 I think]
Wintermote 17.3.2015 klo 20.10
Looks neat, but the stats are crazy. Way too much power, and uses water/waste? It's a rectenna receiving energy from solar satellites in orbit. Why would it need so much water or create so much waste?
Sarda 17.3.2015 klo 19.35
I hope it randomly bursts into flames still, I lost so many cities blocks to these things back in the day
Vekter 17.3.2015 klo 17.09
A Power Plant just to power my Microwave oven! I Love it!
Jack Greedy 17.3.2015 klo 16.46
Oh my God, stuff from my favourite Sim CIty ;)
