It looks like your system isn't fully capable of using sfm to it's full potential. You probably need a graphics card. SFM uses a thing called HDR and incompatible systems look all washed out like that.

The only overwriting it should be doing is for the prop models since they're the same for both maps. It should be fine. :)

@Toonaholic: Well you could fake it, by changing the skybox (using sv_skyname [skybox name here), lowering the tonemap scale in the camera settings, changing the fog settings ( which you can find out on the Valve Developer Community) and create 2 light sources, one being an orange source light and the other a red/purple ambient light.
