As for commissioning me, my prices are around minimal wage in the UK, which is around £12 an hour, and something similar to this takes around 8 hours, with the knowledge of how the game manages NPCs. So just doing a basic NPC would be around £200 as you basically need a down payment for an animation base to then slim down prices in the future. If that's of interest to you, I'm fine to consider it.
If you want some of my more recent work examples, check out Crypt of the Necropony for Crypt of the Necrodancer.
I've done stuff for other games, and typically they work based on a basic frame set like terraria, but I can't say for 100% certain. But the main killer would having to design based on a higher resolution, so either way I would honestly suggest to work from scratch, develop a new animation base and work from there.
These animations are over 2 years old, and wasting time porting for something that may not be compatible, is in itself time I personally wouldn't want to invest in without being paid to do so. If you want to go ahead and port it yourself, go right ahead, I really don't care about ownership as much as the rest of the Terraria community seem to have an obsession with.
And that's solid advice. I like to dabble in pixel art, but I'm not an artist and I don't know enough about modding to actually put sprite replacements into the game.
I highly encourage you making your own stuff if you're really interested in that sort of stuff, its really easy to animate stuff like this, any QC issues I have regarding my stuff can easily be solved with another couple hours. I just try to keep myself inline with a specific amount of quality to time investment ratio, what I have is just as little as I'm willing to put in and get as max value out of it possible, but if you're willing to spend the extra time I'm sure you can get something good out of it.
Any form of creative output with your time is time well invested in my opinion.
Well, thank you for your time and, again, great work. It's not for me, but I can see the talent and mastery that you have put into your creations. If ever you find (in your discord, in your wherever) that you stumble into a conversation with a talented artist/modder who is looking for ideas for NPC revamps, please toss them an idea for doing sexy men. Take care!
Do you think there are any modders/artists who would do a similar treatment for the male NPCs? There are not currently any in the Workshop.
Ever thought of doing some men for the gay audience?
I don't care about the comments and what people say about it, because not only are they less qualified to talk about it, but assuming I'm horny as an ace woman is beyond laughable. I'm really just here because they're easy to make and an interesting study on basic animation & art direction for the limited amount of space.
I hope my little bit of text helps with motivation in any way.
That's all from me, take care!
But no, it really outlived expectations. The sprite doesn’t lose any of detail or identity when at a more natural zoom, and the while the sprite is slightly taller than normal, it weirdly enough fits due to Samus’ tall height and that most other NPC retextures tend to add a few pixels in height too - so the end product looks about half a head taller; not sure if that was intentional, but it works.
