@The Bard of Hearts I guess the selectable mod only shows it in the north postition instead of in the installed position. perhaps you should report this on that mod-page

I tried moving the wallhung picture to various positions while mounted on various walls and still no luck. Anything I can do to help?

*snicker snicker laugh* ... ok... Mlie, you are totally awesome. BUT... I just thought I'd mention, that the new change graphic option that you enabled? has the pictures showing in the UI from the "North Facing" direction. Which means that all it shows is a small very uniform "line" for each picture.

It's cool that we can change them now. But changing them is quite the trial and error method at the moment. For all I know this is something that is from the change graphic mod's problem. But I thought I'd bring it up in case you had the ability (an subsequent awesomeness of being willing) to fix it to be viewable.

As always, thanks for EVERYTHING you do for the community. Game on!

But I thought I'd put it out there... The art easel can only ever face south. Is it possible to make the standing position rotatable? Even if the graphic doesn't change (which would be cool it it did). Sorry if I'm being obnoxious. If not, still an awesome mod that you saved AND fixed up.

Hi, Mlie. Thanks for everything you do for the rimworld community. I just noticed that the paintings don't get use of the "Selectable Sculpture Graphic" mod anymore. Someone made a 1.5 version of the mod and this doesn't seem to support that. Any chance of an update? Thanks again.

@randomvortex Should be fixed now, not sure why it hard-crashes but there may have been an issue with calculating beauty outside that referenced itself resulting in an endless loop.

thats the whole log, from initalization to crash, sorry it's all broken up i couldnt post it all at once. As far as I can tell, its not logging anything at the time of crash, but maybe I've missed something. I've been using "Dev Quicktest" to start a new game each time for testing to make sure its not another mod conflict

@Mlie I was trying to get a log but the game freezes instantly, always resulting in a crash to desktop. I'm not sure if its logging anything in the debug log or if it's crashing too soon before it has a chance to write anything, I tested on dev mode and the error log never gets a chance to pop up before crashing. I also forgot to mention it is only when the paintings are hung up and a pawn is nearby. If a mechanoid installs the painting everything is fine till a pawn gets nearby but if aa pawn installs a painting, it crashes instantly

It seems wall paintings are causing the game to crash in 1.5. If a pawn is within viewing radius to a wall painting the game soft-locks and crashes, I've tested it with only this mod ( + Ideology, Core, and Harmony) and retested on v 1.4 with the same list and can confirm something weird is happening in 1.5. Weirdly its only if a human pawn gets near one, friendly Mechanoids from Biotech and Ghouls from Anomaly can both pass by them just fine but as soon as a pawn gets close it crashes every time. It's also only happening with wall paintings, the free standing paintings seem to be working just fine still. Hope thats at least a somewhat helpful report and thanks for all the great work you do!! :]

Removed the interactionspot and made a custom interaction-worker instead. Now the paintings should be easier to place

Also I just remembered, if you want to make them rotatable you have to add a north/south/east version of the custom paintings you make and change Graphic_Single to Graphic_Multi in the defs
Add a rotatable True def too if you didn't already.
This is more difficult in terms of work required to make each painting, and the code changes require *some* knowledge to pull it off, but it can be done.
If I remembered the specifics from my testing I would post them. Good Luck.

*It's worth mentioning that if you add more paintings later and use the "Selectable Sculpture Graphic" (let's you change paintings in game) it will shuffle your in game images around.
So, if you plan to add a lot of paintings, then maybe make *256 or so. I wish I did in advance lol

Say... if I add Painting (145).png to my files, it will shuffle all the in game images in the paintings around.
This only applies to adding new files. Editing old ones from the list is fine. So editing anything you already added will not change anything in game. *besides your intended edit of course*

In my case, there's only *60 or so paintings I would have to reassign images to in my colony, and I somewhat enjoy doing that too. So it's not so bad.

I was thinking that everyone was adding their own pics/images using this mod. That's why I said nothing about these details earlier. I was wrong to not include them.

Anyways, I hope my prior advice did not inconvenience you in any way.

You can change the paintings or make more in PaintDotNet or any other photo-editor that support transparent .png format.

What I did for myself is add a bunch of images in varying sizes, in 1.2.
That way I can have my own "wall paintings" or full portraits.

Also, it's worth mentioning that you can increase the resolution of the images while only having them take up one square in game.

Make sure the file is 512x512 or 1024x1024 (or even 2048x2048). Just KEEP THEM SQUARE, otherwise there will be stretching. Match the number in other words.

You can put whatever shape you want inside of these blank squares, even images of pawns, anime, people etc.
You can easily put small "wall paintings" inside of the blanks, like the rectangles in the 1.3 update here by Mlie :)

I made 144 blank files labeled "Painting (1).png" to "Painting (144).png".
Inside of the .png I import a smaller file or one that will ft it, and save.

So after an hour of digging into the defs I couldn't figure out how to get the wall hung painting from 1.3 into 1.2. I did try Delta's code and was able to hang the normal easel paintings onto the wall but it obviously looks like a easel painting on a wall... is there anyway that you could add this feature back into 1.2 Mlie? If you don't want to I don't blame you. I don't even play rimworld that much so it maybe wouldn't be worth your time. I just stay on 1.2 because I have a lot of mods that work fine on 1.3 so I don't want to go to 1.3 and break them. I don't care for DLCs anyway. If you could do this, or even tell me how I would appreciate it. If not, still cool mod. Thanks for updating.

I don't understand, I go to the easel to make a painting and it only creates a the painting that isn't wall mountable. Is it because I have stayed on 1.2?

It's too bad the "graphic select" mod can't be set to override the Graphic_Single option, because then you could set the <texpath> to one single painting as default, then use graphic-select to change it to anything else. It doesn't look like that's possible though, or at least not easy, but having North-South-East for the Graphic_Random texpath is a fair compromise. Worth it 100% for the extra map options.

@All The wall-hung paintings now require north/east/west/south textures to work since they are rotatable. See the info at the top of the description on how to do this if you have custom paintings added.

Welp, now that I look at the updated version in notepad it seems Mlie already did the same to 1.3 for the small paintings lol
I thought I was being so clever too... oh well :)
I'm still on 1.2, playing on local files and have not updated this mod in over a year. Still, these changes do work on the original paintings too, so that is something.

I found a way to make the default paintings wall mountable and rotatable while making my own mod.
Add the highlighted code after </graphicData> to the Defs it just werks :)

There is now wallmountable paintings possible to make at the easel. Slightly smaller to fit the walls but the same base images. Hope it helps!

when pawns view paintings, theres a minor typo that says that pawns are viewing a paiting . pretty small though, thanks for the mod i love having more decoration options!
