For those who are interested, Project Irisil adds Siren/Sirene NPCs as possible spawns (and some other races) to the Hylotl Post Office in underwater cities which can join your crew if you complete quests for them.

It's not a full town or a village, but it's something.

Yes, you can use invisible pants, since I don't do any modding yet. In fact, I made this mod for myself, but just decided to release it in steam, and then people liked it)))

Can I suggest invisible pants? For appearance if nothing else. I've got my character slithering along and the armor pants I'm wearing have visible running legs.

well, scales would probably also make the form harder to read. To effectively do scales on this given their current size it would be both difficult to do well and a major departure from the expected level of detail on Starbound npcs.

It would make more sense for the body/tail to be scales, like the mermaids from The Sims series or Ariel from Disney.
