after was using the standalone metion suit and the shotgun i tried this.

not easy to beat these guys. especially the one with the giant shield. +6 armor and alot of hp. if they come in groups u need be extra carful. sektopods r like little children compared to them ^^

Amazing mod as always. I used it in the past and will do so in the future. However, I will make it so that some of the Custodians come with advanced ADVENT soldiers sometimes as to avoid them being wiped from the game, and to balance things out.

Last playthrough (which I couldn't finish), I had 0 ADVENT troopers spawning around, and ended up unable to even research plated armor all the way up till June, which is when I researched powered armor only to have my armory reduced to dust.

@HolyRedEye, pretty late into the game. Normal custodians only appear at the same time as Sectopods are avaialable, meanwhile Exalted Custodians only appear at force level 20 (the max)

Does LWOTC break the metion battlesuit? I can't seem to be able to craft it even after doing every autopsy.

It's true that regular custodians can be sometimes more troublesome than the exalted ones since you're still making the transition to plasma weapons, personally my advice would be to flashbang them and run past them towards the objective, they'll still take potshots and it can hurt if you're unlucky but that's how it is.

Each attack deals 19 damage + they have 30 defences lol. These units are more powerful than pods than FL 20 and yet they appear in FL 16

Yea just casually have a pod of 3 of them whereby each of them have like 40-60 hp that has a chance to 1 shot your character because it can attack twice per turn on top being ridiculously tanky

Or maybe even better, increase "Dodge" as well to compensate and reflect how well armored they are, bullet only grazing them.

Their defence is absurd though. They are standing in the open 99% of the time, it shouldn't be hard to hit them, even with poor aim. It would be much more logical to simply increase their shield bonus instead. Something like 0 Defence bonus for an additional 3-4 Shield bonus.

The pod is only 3 of them so it's fine, the main thing to keep in mind is that they're considered both humanoid and biological, meaning that stuff like the Templar's Void Conduit ability, insanity, flashbangs and so on are all capable of affecting them and you'll need it to restrict and control their movements.

In my LWOTC and mod jam campaign, I had 2 Couriers with 2 and 3 of their escorts respectively, but the Couriers dropped no loot. And just some very basic loot from 2 of their escorts.

From my experience, a good counter to these guys is Iridar's Stormrider class:

At captain rank, Stormriders can unlock the Riposte ability which allows them to nullify and counterattack any adjacent enemy which made a missing or grazing attack targeted at them.
By buffing your stormrider with as much dodge as possible (Serpent/Wraith suit, Agility PCS...) they will be able to dodge nearly every attack including the Custodian's pilebunker and riposte with a melee attack if they're next to them, let them tank the Custodian Trio while the rest of the squad does the objective or surrounds the custodians and wittles them down.

One more bug/feedback: exalted custodian are still able to fire their guns after having had their weapons disabled by the psionic attack.

One suggestion: the metion battlesuit jetpack animation is just the guy "jumping". Since there is already an animation with the jetpack fire going off, I think it would be a much better fit for it.

so i'm trying to add an armor upgrade slot to the metion battlesuit. however i'm not sure hwo to do this without the name of what the item is in game. (different mod called Armour Upgrades) what is the item called in the code?

here's the line of code i need to modify... or add to
+NonWeaponUpgradeSlots = (TemplateName = "KevlarArmor", NumUpgradeSlots = 1)

so i'm assuming i need to replace "KevlarArmor" with MetionBattlesuit and then jsut add a line in the config to add slots to it. however modded armor sometimes has a different name internally.

in my experience, "Protect Data Interceptor Device" missiosn are impossible with Exalted Custodians. they will disregard any other target and just one-round the device the moment their pod is triggered

Playing LWOTC ModJam, I encountered one of the full Exalted Grandmaster pods on turn 2 of the Avenger Defense mission (the thing the Chosen does when their knowledge bar is full). 3 Custodian mini bosses with 65hp and 8 armor each, plus another 6 weaker enemies or so in the pod. Forget it. I’ve put up with too much eyebrow-raising behavior from this mod already at this point, and this finally earns the uninstall and load an earlier save treatment. It didn’t help that some bug (I assume) was making them all weirdly invisible, but honestly even if I could have seen them properly it wouldn’t have made much difference.

these guys shouldn't be harder than the actual boss level enemies in the game. there's nothing even tactical about the exalted, they do a million different things, are immune to everything, and don't even worry about cover, because they can just literally walk up to wherever i am because of their absurd health pools, and then i get to sit there and watch them take 6 shots on me, where any single one will just about one-shot even a max rank soldier.

The spawn rate of these mobs is ridiculous. Once they start appearing they quickly become by far the most common mob in the entire game.

I play on Legendary Beta Strike and the 3 custodian pods are just a huge slog to kill. It seems like only "cheap" tactics like repeaters and mimic beacons are effective against them. And then it's just a matter of using mimic beacons and stasis until the repeaters finally proc.

I gotta agree with the others. It's just to much. I love a challenge but fighting those guys just made me tired. They're more of a slog to fight than the Sectopods and I'm using the Very Angry Sctopod mod. I'm not saying to completely change them but they need to be tweaked.

The standard custodians are... Barely reasonable-ish(?) to fight against. The grandmasters? Oh, god. OH, GOD. An absolute slog to chew through their health while they pull enough abilities to outfit an entire alien pod out of their asses.

Would be a fun challenge for strong mods if not for their absurd health and the fact that they usually come in threes.

Agree with Nikitaw99 and Hawk. I got 3 of these in one mission where I also had to kill a general muton and sectopod + elite footsoldiers and 2 teleporting enemies with my B team, because it was a low profile mission. You can guess what happened next. I don't even think my A team could've pulled it off (maybe with hardcore savescumming, but that's not fun!). Would have been great to have a configuration panel where we could play with their spawn numbers and frequencies.

Have to disable the mod now, which is sad, because they look awesome. I do see myself returning for another run if the configuration panel or something similar is applied in the future.

I also think damage and healt are ok, just make them never appear as more then one or max 2. Also should they not appear so often. A Specialised Elite unit is not everywhere to be seen normaly.

Yep way to overpowered. Will deactivate this mod again. I think they look great and are also fun to fight when alone. But as Minor Boss like enemy.

But every mission 5 of them drop. Thats not balance. While beatable no fun you can only grind them down. I mean one of them is way stronger then a choosen.

These look sick but way too overpowered for regular enemies; I've only seen the regular Custodian so far and it's got more health and armor than even the sectopod I found in the same mission. And now I check this page again and see there's stronger variants...

For some strange and yet-to-be-determined reason, I've been unable to download this mod. I had initially downloaded the battlesuit and shotgun mods, then I saw they were part of this (larger) mod... so I unsubscribed from those and [attempted to] download this one instead and I keep getting a "start-stop-start" download that flicks between starting and stopping ad nauseum.

I've googled and yt'd all the go-to solutions for workshop downloader not doing its thing (short of re-installing steam/xcom 2), from clearing cache this and switching download region that but nothing seems to work.

I gave up and went back to the battlesuit and shotgun mod, resubscribed and they downloaded without issue. :S

When steam seemingly gave up it eventually said in red "Manifest Unavailable" where it ought to of said "Completed".

IDK... :(

I want to try this mod but i agree with most people post saying you should make a light version with nerfs to enemies across the board. Mainly the damage they deal, i think the health is fine. I dont think no enemy in the game should be able to one shot max level soldiers.

Ok, so whenever a custodian attacks and it hits, my game crashes, cant tell if its like that with all new enemies or just the basic one because i never let them attack in the first place. I got lucky and started a mission with one custodian of my own and it doesnt matter if my one or the enemy one hits its mark it crashes the game.

I cant see the mod in the AML laucnher, I also searched the ini folder for latest added file and so on. I have also subscribed/unsubscribed and cleared my folder but no success

Any ideas what might be wrong?

@Beastwolf1 Agree. Turned off the chosen in my new LWOTC campaign as this mod totally nails the boss fight experience. Everything else seems mediocre. Excellent mod. Works with LWOTC with Mod Jam. Not sure if it works without Mod Jam
