would it be much to ask that maybe the floors could also be breakable so we could like, put them where ever we want to better optimize the space in our own ships? especially with those annoying little rooms and the placements of gaps where hatches go

stopped using it, shouldve made the mod crash when it's missing dependencies so that the log says it's missing dependencies, i spent an hour trying to figure out which mod was crashing my game with the "IMM_door.animation"

Looking for a patch for the Maple32 and Shoggoth+Mindflayer races if you ever get time. Or even a patch to give them one of the supported ships. Also maybe something with the Novakid Big Iron ship.

How would you make it so that one race uses another race's better ship? Like if I wanted to use the Better Hylotl ship as a Floran?

@Syovere - Sorry for the delay in response! Is this still an issue?

Unfortunately, I've been inactive on moddding starbound for the longest time, and changing things would require a bit of work even if it's such a small thing... Is it alright if for the time being you have a warning of incompatibility?

Hopefully someday I'll get back to this, sort out this and other issues, and most likely check out your mod myself too cause it sounds amazing! But regrettably, for now my hands are tied ><

Hey there, me again. As I've said before, I'm working on a mod to choose your own ships, approaching release in fact. In the course of this, I've had to create blockKey.config.patches for every supported race, to stop hazard blocks, ship lights, and occasionally doors from spawning outside of the chosen new ship.

This would lead to an obvious and rather nasty conflict with Better Ships. As I'm designing CYOS in part around multiplayer scenarios, I'm trying to minimize any of these sorts of conflicts for those who wish to continue using the vanilla ship system and tiers.

My understanding (and hope!) is that we can avoid this by having Better Ships set my mod in the includes, so yours will simply override my patches. The "name" field for my mod is "cyos".

Hopefully I'm right about the fix!

I have an idea for this mod, or an alternate version of it, that would be really neat:
A hatch (or several) on the side of every ship that allows you to build on the outside of it. I know there's a mod that does this already, but that one has the exact same base design for every race and tier. It would be nice to have a ship design that is manually expandable from certain points and also has a unique and interesting base design. You could make the exterior expandable from the start and block off the space that is filled by later upgrades, or have the exterior expansion ability be only available for later upgrades.
If you decide to do this, I can help you with designs and art, but probably couldn't do it all myself. Especially the programming, I don't know how to do that.

If there is any concern, just backup the
\starbound\storage\player\
folder entirely by making a copy of it somewhere. Then you can revert both ship and character if needed.

You probably can just upgrade if you aren't already upgraded. If that doesn't go well, use the 2nd method. You can remove your stuff from the ship anyhow before upgrading. so there isn't anything to lose if you do that.

If you want your ship objects to be removable, definitely take the 2nd option. I forgot about that. That's decided when Starbound initially places them, so that's probably the way to go.

Only if
1. You haven't fully upgraded your ship, it would take effect when you upgraded.
or
2. You remove EVERYTHING from your ship you wish to keep. Then delete your .shipworld file so that Starbound will regenerate it. It will apply every upgrade you have so far sequentially but everything you had there will obviously be gone.

In both cases you'd need the mod active.

Okay check it some more and it seems to incompatible with all radical race ais for some reason, I tested that a while ago so it might be fixed now idk

Mmmm... That's something to always keep in mind yeah. For now, only an addon for Walls exists for the black novakid ship https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2377491706 (that I've been informed of, I don't check the workshop too much on my own)

Making addons for the ship myself wouldn't be too complicated - just gotta fill bucket the existing images of the brown ship. Unfortunately, that depends on a few factors on my end. I could get to it eventually, been trying to get back into modding a bit, but I have to juggle a few things IRL before that. Until then, unfortunately, I don't think there's a quick solution, sorry :(

I know you've probably got a lot of requests concerning this mod, but if there any way to make it compatible with ship color change mods. I play a Novakid and the brown and yellow color scheme is... not great. Either that or maybe if there is a mod the only function of which is to remove ship wall dividers? Admittedly, that's the only reason I'm here.

Mmm not sure what could be causing these issues, and unfortunately am not able to look more into it. Could be a specific species, or a specific mod that changes the ship files.

Any chance you could update this so it works with the black and purple ships mod by ProblemVacancy? I really want my black-and-purple Glitch ship but I this (and the better ships walls mod) override the load order...

Can't find anything here, so I'll just ask: is there a way to get the grooves mirrored for allowing a door next to the teleporter on the left side? Asking as I can't place one on the left of the teleporter, and since the teleporter can't be moved it basically prevents me from placing a door there without looking...not quite right.

i decided to investigate the FU BYOS ship door issue and it looks like it's caused by the frames being renamed (in vanilla they are named like closeRight.1 and in this mod they are named like close.1 and since FU BYOS ship objects rendering is based on the vanilla frames, it causes it to try render a frame that no longer exists)

it seems like the floor is broken in where the beginning area of the ship would be, without any upgrades, (i'm just patching it up with regular blocks,) but i just wanted to also say that.
