@Kingdark You probably have corruption in your local Stellaris Launcher database. Try this clearing it out. https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Modding#Purging_all_mods - the problem is with your local copy of the mod, not the mod itself.

Warning, these will reset all your playlists. Be sure to export them from the Launcher so you can reimport them later.

Nearly a year later since the last comment, but I figure I might as well post it. Your mod says that it's missing a descriptor file. Since it's been nearly five year since the last update, I'll unsubscribe to the mod but subscribe to the thread. Thanks in advance for (potentially) fixing the problem.

And as addendum:
- Geneticist gives you Genome Mapping, Epigenetic Triggers and Vitality Boosters.
- The mod's mechanical parts seem to function without issue even in 2.1.2.
- I would recommend trying it out if you desire a fresh playstyle. And the minor graphical issue mentioned below is very easy to ignore.

For all those wondering whether this one still works... I have tested both the premade empire, modified versions with various ethics, and its civics (2.1.2) in a heavily modded (mostly Alphamod-based) game (with console commands to quickly check AI empires). Here are some of my findings:
- Xenophobe is not actually required for Parasitic Evolution.
- Parasitic Evolution requires the secondary pops to be fully enslaved to work properly, so you should put them into full slavery asap.
- This also means that you should pick at least Authoritarian. You can pick Parasitic Evolution without being Authoritarian or Xenophobe, but it will likely make the empire completely unviable.
- AI Empires lack rooms (but not the ruler and the city/planet background). Using mods like Diverse Basics doesn't seem to solve the issue.
- The mod works as advertised otherwise.

Basically I feel like you should also get maluses for not having enough secret lizards running the secret world order. Then you would have to balance it just correctly, too many and your population starts to become aware, too little and you are not able rule properly.

...I never noticed the new advanced negative traits this mod added, until my first multiplayer 2.0 game where my friend still wanted to use the animated series of mods and I got really excited thinking they had added them to base game genetic ascension. The downer playing an ironman vanilla 2.0 was harsh. xD

For some reason, when I select the Geneticist Civic, it endlessly loops the Uplift Announcement, which won't disappear no matter what I do...Considering I'm the first to report it, it MIGHT be a mod conflict, but I don't know...

@silfae Mechanist lets you start the game with actual robots, and the ability to build robot pops, though. Is Geneticist supposed to allow to start the able to genemod your pops, or is my game just not working properly?

Also @silfae when i choose hive mind i can only choose your geneticist civic and 2 others from other mods, not sure if its a problem from this mod or with others but thought i should bring it to your attention.

Geneticist only gives you a couple of genetic technologies, you still need to research the others. It only makes you start ahead, like Mechanist.

How does the Geneticists Civic work, exactly? I selected it for a custom empire, but I can't actually gene mod any of my pops on starting a new game (making it kind of worthless, IMO - I wanted to start off being able to tailor my people into different castes). It says I lack the "gene tailoring" tech.

I have yet to encounter it, but if that is the case, I'm afraid I can't do anything to fix the issue as it goes beyond the coding of the mod itself.
