No specific purpose other then being a landmark and giving players a different surface to play on, build bases or use it in other ways they might come up with.
It's just part of the Freespace flavour at this point.

i cannot reccomend this map for gmod enough. there is plenty of space for vehicles and there's cool features and its only 30 mb. im not complaining, this maps really good
