Tweaks and Changes

So one of the main complaints I have been hearing about NWO is that some of the more minor nations are not accustomed to this new system, and thus suffer from cripplingly low manpower from the start of the game. Now, normally I wouldnt care about what all these smaller nations think, but then today I decided to play as finland to test compatability with another mod, and that didnt go so well for me (Or Finland, great for the Soviet Union though)

To this end, I have re-added the conscription to the base conscription laws. That way nations (especially starting democratic ones, dont have to start with cripplingly low mp.

One man gets the rifle, and then there is like 20 other guys: Re-added the base conscription values to Conscription laws.

New Features

Seeing as the UK seems to be done with that whole "colony" thing, I'm guessing the English language will now only spread through natural means like trade or internet forums. Unfortunately, I only speak English. Thankfully though, there are people out there that really want to see NWO in their native languages, and for that I am super greatful.

New Features

Artificial Intelligence in Hearts of Iron has been a major setback to the proper and extended development of the NWO Project. Because I was unable to get it working over the course of an entire week the way it should work, I decided it would be easier to create Artifical Artificial Intelligence than true Artificial Intelligence.

Essentially, this is just a fancy way of saying I created events that would make the AI swap between laws. They still have to spend PP in order to do so, its just an extra layer of complication to make work properly.

And I wanted the excuse to say Artificial Artificial Intelligence. That sounds hillarious.

AAI: A basic AI system has been implemented to NWO!

New Features

Over the past day, I have been working on performance enhancements and other new features. While AI still isn’t ready at the time of writing, I did managed to do some other neat things.

Service by Requirement: Its back! As part of the manpower law tree, it now provides +10% Total Manpower, and has continued negative attributes from its predecessors in the tree.

Bugfixes

Giving Them Both Barrels: Scraping the Barrel now uses the correct icon

PRESS LAW

Press laws are designed to be cheap ways to shift the way your nation is going on a temporary basis. For some of the effects they give out, they might be a tad too cheap.

Press-to Change-o: Press Laws now cost 50 PP to change, up from 25.

Productive Press

Answer me honestly, have you ever used any other law than this? If you answered yes, than you will have missed out on how strong its been. Re-tooling it to increase Production Efficiency Gain instead of a flat production bonus should reduce the "fire and forget" mentality of this law, and bring it in line with its peers.

8 Hour Work Day: +10% Factory output replaced with +10% Production Efficiency Gain

Call For Volunteers

2% Manpower for 25 PP is a tad crazy. Even with it being brought up to 50 PP with the rest of the laws, this is still way too powerful for what it is.

Bad Reception: 2% recruitment bonus reduced to a 0.5% recruitment bonus

Nationalism Press

Seeing how situational ideology drift defense can be, throwing in a small national unity bonus would also be nice.

Peace Through Power: Added 5% National Unity to Nationalism

WOMEN'S RIGHTS LAW

Lets talk about why cost is an ineffective balancing factor. Lets say we are playing an RTS game that has a Superheavy Tank available for 10 times the cost of the next most expensive unit. This Superheavy Tank can easily destroy anything else in the game without fear of destruction, even when outnumbered 10 to 1. It doesn't matter that the player has to wait for credits in order to acquire that Superheavy tank, because by the time they do get one, they essentially win.

That Superheavy tank is Womens Rights laws right now in NWO. They may be very expensive, but they still offer no downside for the massive bonuses that they provide.Saving up 400 PP to get 10% bonus Manpower was, in short, really dumb.

Greater Limitations: Factory Output reduced to 5% on Limited Female Service. Added -25% Political Power Gain

EQUALITY B*@%#: Factory Output reduced to 0% on Egalitarianism. Added -50% Political Power Gain, -10% National Unity
