August 15, 2019 - Season 4, Episode 1: The Lost Fleet
Update 1 - Mod Version 4.1.0 - New Save Game is Absolutely Required
  • NEW SHIP CLASS: Escort Carrier - The Light Carrier upgrade has been moved into its own ship class.
  • NEW STARBASE: Headquarters (Level 7) - The ultimate defense station, now with extra Dakka.
  • NEW SHIP SECTIONS: The Battlecruiser now has 5 sections, the Dreadnought now has 5 sections, and the Flagship now has 6 sections.
  • NEW SHIP LAYOUTS: All ship classes have been completely overhauled and rebalanced in terms of weapons and utility loadouts.
  • Removed the Fleet Support Ship class completely, and placed its abilities as an upgrade to the standard Cruiser.
  • Changed the name of the Solar Stronghold to just Stronghold.
  • Changed the name of the Fleet Heaquarters station to Fleet Command Center.
  • The entire NSC2 tech tree has been overhauled. All ship classes now have a minimum number of years that must pass before their techs can appear for research.
  • The vanilla engineering tech file has been overwritten to now allow proper progression of all ship classes.
  • Increased the trade value of the Privateer Doctrine from 5% to 10% and reduced the Naval Capacity penalty from 20% to 10%.
  • Changed the name of the Exploration Ship to Exploration Cruiser.
  • Adjusted the fleet capacity of all classes.
  • Removed the Tier 2 Tomahawk Cruise Missile.
  • Reduced the range on the Tier 1 Tomahawk Missile for balance.
  • Removed the combat penalties from the Exploration Cruiser.
  • Removed the Combat System from the Exploration Slot.
  • Removed the fire rate, range, and tracking modifiers from the MARS weapon system and increased the point defense weapon range bonus.
  • Reduced the cost and power requirements of the special slot MARS weapon system.
  • Reduced all modifiers on the Strike Cruiser auras to make both tiers a bit less powerful.
  • Updated all NSC2 name lists with the new Escort Carrier class and removed the old Support Ship class.
  • Created all new ship class icons for the Fleet View and Fleet Manager.
  • Created new Ship Class images for the Fleet View. (The "shadow" images at the top of the window.)
  • Created new starbase icons for the galaxy view and outliner.


***EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THIS UPDATE***
  • A NEW SAVE GAME IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED FOR THIS UPDATE!!! (Seriously, we're not kidding - old save games will NOT work.)

  • Almost all mods designed to work with NSC2 will need to be updated to Season 4 (this includes the official addon mods). Please do not pester mod authors to update their mods if someone has already commented on their Steam page notifying them of the update. That's a quick way to piss off a modder and annoy them into not updating, or delaying an update. Be patient as other modders adjust to our changes, please.

  • The UI Overhaul Dynamic mod shown as a requirement on this page is now ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to make everything appear properly. Not using that mod could cause undesired results in certain game windows.

  • As of Season 4, the mod officially does not support resolutions less than 1920x1080. If you're using a resolution under that, we can offer suggestions that might help it work, but there are no guarantees. We apologize for those using lower resolutions, but only supporting 1080p and above is the only way to make everything work as we envisioned.

  • The mod name will now remain as (-NSC2 Season 4-) until the next major mod release. This will prevent issues with mod loaders and other speicifc coding techniques that are mod-name specific.

June 30, 2019 - Season 3, Episode 3: Scientific Method
Update 11 - Mod Version 3.3.92 - New Save Game is Not Required
  • Changed the Privateer fleet doctrine to give +10% trade value instead of +5% and reduced the penalty to -10% naval capacity instead of -20%.
  • Added built-in compatibility for Guilli's Ship Components mod. This will allow everyone to use NSC2 and GSC without a patch, and will also allow use of NSC2, GSC, and the Unlimited Supercapitals addon. The special crew slot for GSC will not appear in the ship designer unless you have that mod activated.
  • SPECIAL NOTE: For the Titan, Flagship, and Exploration Ship, adding the extra slot does cause a bit of overlap in the ship designer window, as it was only designed to hold a total of 10 slots and these three classes now have 11. The only way to fix this would be for us to modify the UI, which we'd like to avoid because it'll cause issues unless you're using the exact UI mod that we copy the changes from. As such, the decision was made to just leave the overlap alone since it is only a small graphical bug and does not affect gameplay in any way.

June 29, 2019 - Season 3, Episode 3: Scientific Method
Update 10 - Mod Version 3.3.91 - New Save Game is Not Required
  • Fixed a bug in the Titan files that was causing its sections to not line up properly.
  • Fixed a bug in the localisatiuon that was causing the Titan section names to not appear properly in the ship designer.
  • Removed the restriction coding on Afterburners so that they can be used on any ship type, including the Exploration Ship.
  • Somehow, the files that buffed the Fallen Empires and Crisis units remained in the mod on the last update. They have now, for sure, been removed.
  • Somehow, the NSC2 logo and mod version remained in the mod on the last update. It has now, for sure, been removed.
  • Changed the AI weight of the special Corvette sensor to prevent the AI from always using it, to help solve a known issue with the District Overhaul & Bigger Colonies mod.
  • Fixed a minor error in the coding for the Strike Cruiser auras.

Update 9 - Mod Version 3.3.9 - New Save Game is Not Required
  • All of our boosts to the Fallen Empires and Crises have been removed and split off into an optional addon mod, so that everyone has a choice whether or not they want those boosts. The addon mod is located here: https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1782936901
  • Fixed all graphical bugs with Titan models. (Hopefully)
  • Fixed a few missing modifier strings in the starbase window.
  • Removed all of NSC2's changes to the starbase window. This will solve the issue of parts of the window not being visible to those running at resolutions less than 1920x1080, however without a UI mod the building and module slots of the Solar Stronghold will not fit into the starbase window properly. There is nothing we can do to fix this other than removing the stronghold completely, which we're not going to do. If you're running at a resolution under 1080p, you can use the required UI mod and change the UI scaling option in the game settings to around 0.7. That is the only known solution for this issue. This change will not affect those who run at 1080p or higher in any way, as long as they're also running the required UI mod.

June 22, 2019 - Season 3, Episode 3: Scientific Method
Update 8 - Mod Version 3.3.8 - New Save Game is Highly Recommended (But Not Required)
  • Mod updated for 2.3.2.
  • Due to numerous reports of the Grand Herald still not working properly, we have changed the NSC2 Titan back to the vanilla 3 sections. We have increased the weapon loadouts and utility slots on the 3 sections so that the ship should have roughly the same amount of firepower and defense as the previous 4 section variant. This change will ensure that NSC2 does not interfere with the Herald in any way, so if you're still seeing it broken after today's update, it is not NSC2 causing the issue.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE TITAN CHANGE: This change will break the visual appearance of Titans in existing save games. Players will be able to fix their existing Titans by following the process listed below. However, the AI will not follow this process and will have visually broken Titans for the remainder of your save game. This is why we recommend a new save game after today's update.
  • The Strategic Resource Factory now produces 10 of each special resource instead of 5, to make it worth requiring an acension perk.
  • Fixed various missing modifiers.
  • Reverted changes to the HQ Mega to have the Admiral Upkeep Reduction now that the modifiers are fixed.
  • Changed the coding for the PD strike craft so that starbases won't automatically equip them instead of normal fighters.
  • Removed the NSC2 logo and mod version from the main menu screen since it hasn't been helpful in troubleshooting issues (which is why we added it in the first place).

HOW TO FIX TITANS THAT WERE BROKEN IN THIS UPDATE:
  • Step 1: Open the ship designer and create a completely new Titan design from scratch.
  • Step 2: Equip the ship as you normally would.
  • Step 3: Save the new design with the exact same name as your existing design. Say yes to overwrite your existing design.
  • Step 4: Upgrade all of your Titans. This should fix them visually once the upgrade process is complete.

June 15, 2019 - Season 3, Episode 3: Scientific Method
Update 7 - Mod Version 3.3.7 - New Save Game is Not Required
  • Updated the mod for Stellaris 2.3.1. (We do not update for beta builds, we will update for 2.3.2 when it goes live.)
  • Removed all jobs from the Galactic Mall as it was breaking empires as well could potentially mess up Gestalts if they captured one.
  • Took another balance pass at the Diagnostician after some feedback. 12.5% Growth on Robots/Organics and providing 10 Amenities. The job count on the megastructure is reduced to 0/1/2. CG and Mineral upkeep of the job unchanged.
  • Increased the power output for Dreadnought and Titan reactors.
  • Fixed some minor errors in the country_types file. Hopefully now the AI will not build colony ships like crazy and not use them.
  • Fixed an error in the asset files with Fallen Empire Outposts.
  • Removed the "Anomaly Fail Risk" modifier from the Exploration Ship lab since it is no longer used by the game.
  • Corrected some errors with modifiers on the Exploration Ship's Labortatories.
  • Fixed the missing icon for the Diagnostician job.
  • Fixed a few miscellaneous minor coding errors.

June 6, 2019 - Season 3, Episode 3: Scientific Method
Update 6 - Mod Version 3.3.6 - New Save Game is Not Required
  • Removed the Starbase HQ building to help with performance, as having any limited starbase building causes the game to check every single tick to enforce the limit, which slows things down. For save games where you already have the HQ built, it should be replaced with an empty slot where you can build something else.
  • Added a new entry in the Megastructures Build Menu - the Fleet Headquarters Station. This station gives slightly better bonuses than the Starbase HQ Building (which has been removed). Although it's listed under Megastructures, it's actually a normal sized station with a lower cost and build time appropriate for its size.
  • Fixed the bug with the Titan relic having no ship model and no equipment. (This change is probably not retroactive if you already have the ship, a new game may be required to see the change.)
  • Fixed the localisation error with the Planet Production buttons.
