Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the Dead Rising 4 achievement guide.

Before you commit to the 100% on this game, know that there will be dozens of hours that you will need to invest. Dead Rising 4 is a huge grind-fest, especially when it comes to collectibles and trials; there are hundreds of each.

There are over 100 achievements, and while most of them are straightforward, a lot of them involve grinding hours of your life away, especially where the DLC is concerned. There have been reports of the Capcom Heroes DLC achievements not unlocking properly.

This guide is considered COMPLETE

Chopping Spree
Beat the game on Hard difficulty.
As it states, beat the game on Hard difficulty.

Biter's Remorse
Beat the game on Blackest Friday difficulty.
Blackest Friday is the hardest mode for the game. I recommend a separate playthrough for this mode entirely. Zombies hit harder, they take longer to die, and weapons and vehicles break faster.
Skill Points
A Whole New World
Spend your first Skill Point
As you level up, you will gain skill points. Simply spend your first one any way that you would like.

Building a New You
Spend 25 total Skill Points
Again, it will come with leveling up and spending the earned skill points.

Spend 20 Skill Points on Fortitude skills

Spend 20 Skill Points on Survival skills
See Skilled Shooter for more information.

Skilled Shooter
Spend 20 Skill Points on Shooting skills
Since Dead Rising 4 doesn't have manual saves, there's really no trick to this. The level cap is 100, so you should have no problem getting these in one playthrough through leveling up a total of 80 times.
Crafting
Pro Tip: Dead Rising 4 usually has the items that you need to craft a Blueprint right around the area where you find it. Always take the time to make the item when you obtain the Blueprint to save time on item hunting later on.

Tape It or Die AGAIN
Create 50 combo weapons
The achievement doesn't state 'unique', so you should be able to gain this one by crafting the same item over and over again if need be. Just keep crafting until you've created 50 weapons. Again, always take advantage of the materials that are placed by the Blueprints that you find.

Tape It or Die Fanatic
Create 58 unique Combo Weapons
There are a total of 55 Blueprints in the game, and I am currently at a loss where the 3 additional unique combo weapons come from. If anyone has any information, please let me know.

Vehicular Manslaughter
Create 8 unique combo vehicles
You will be able to gain this one with natural progression of finding the Blueprints and crafting the vehicles as you go.

Tinkerer
Collect 5 Blueprints in Story Mode
This shouldn't be too hard, as the first handful of Blueprints in the game are left right under your nose. Just pick them up.

Inventor
Collect 30 Blueprints in Story Mode
See Innovator for more information.

Innovator
Collect all Blueprints in Story Mode
There are a total of 55 Blueprints in the game. Refer to the video for more information.

We Are Canceling The Apocalypse
Create 5 unique Exo suit Power-Ups
These are scattered throughout the levels, but for specifics refer to the video.

Kills, Trials, Mysteries, & Locations
Story Completionist
Complete all Story Trials
This will most likely be one of your very last achievements, as these trials are a major grind. There's a main list in the game itself that you will need to follow. Complete all 138 story trials and the achievement is yours.

Get to Work
Complete 50 Trials
Refer to Workin' Hard for more information.

Workin' Hard
Complete all Trials
This is ALL of the trials. Not just story. An even bigger grind, thanks to the multiplayer ones. I'll elaborate on this achievement if I can in the future, there are currently no videos or text guides that are helpful. THERE IS ONE SEMI-MISSABLE TRIAL. SEE TRIAL TIPS FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Zombie Destruction
Kill 5,000 zombies
If you're going for all of the other achievements, this one will come with no problems through natural progression. It may sound like a lot... but in comparison to the next two achievements, it's a walk in the park.

Z-Genocider 4: The Return
Kill 53,598 zombies
This time around this classic achievement is faster and less grindy than it was in the first Dead Rising. Not much to say here other than slaughter, maime, kill.

Left 100,004 Dead 2
Kill 200,008 zombies
This will be one of your final achievements, and it's one of the most tedious grinds of the game. Below is a video with a boosting/farming method. You will actually need 250k for full game completion (trials).

I do not own this video.

Stop Hitting Yourself
Kill a zombie with a hunk of meat
Hunks of meat are rare and do little damage, but the below method shows a sure fire way to get this achievement with little to no difficulty whatsoever.

I do not own this video.

Rookie Journalist
Solve one of the Mysteries
Refer to Seasoned Journalist for more information.

Seasoned Journalist
Solve all of the Mysteries
The Mysteries come in two collectible parts; 41 newspapers and 87 cellphones. You will need to hunt down all of them to gain the achievement. Refer to the two videos below for locations. Note: Once you level up each safe house, you can purchase location maps for newspapers and cellphones.

Hunting Grounds
Discover every Location of Interest
There are a total of 163 locations and 31 panic rooms that need to be found for this achievement. Locations that classify as a visit appear white on the map (others are a darker grey color). Once visited, they will have an emblem within them to denote what type of location they are. Refer to the video guide for locations. Note: Once you level up each safe house, you can purchase location maps for panic room keys.

I do not own this video.

Master Journalist
Get a Journalism Score of 100%
You must 100% the game, plain and simple. All other achievements, all trials, all collectibles, all locations, all blueprints.
Multiplayer
Fortunately, you are able to play multiplayer by yourself. There's not a large player base for Dead Rising 4 multiplayer, so this will make it easier. Only one achievement requires you to have more players.

Survive Holiday Hell
Survive Episode 1

Survive the Plaza
Survive Episode 2
Story related, cannot be missed. Will be unlocked upon completion of Episode 1.

Family Photo
Take a photo of 3 players at the same time in Multiplayer Mode
You will need to have at least three other players with you. Try to get them to stand together and then snap a photo of them.

Busy Day
Complete 3 missions in a single day in Multiplayer Mode
Simply finish three missions within a day in Multiplayer. Episodes have multiple days to them, and you will be tasked with killing X number of zombies and completing events.

Combat Ready
Unlock 10 Multiplayer mode-only skills.
As you level up in multiplayer, you can complete trials. You must complete certain trials to unlock skills.

Craftsman
Obtain all of the Multiplayer Combo Weapon Blueprints.
More info coming soon.

Like a Boss
Kill a Boss in Multiplayer Mode
More info coming soon.

All About the Points
Accumulate 1,000,000 points in Multiplayer Mode
This is PP/XP used for leveling. It will come with repetitive grinding and playing the multiplayer episodes.

Misc.
Hangry
Complete an entire episode without eating food
Since the achievement doesn't specify, I am unsure if you can use medical items such as the first aid kit. If anyone is able to test and confirm, please let me know. Otherwise, this will be quite a difficult one that I recommend attempting just on Normal mode.

Bareknuckle Boxing
Complete an entire episode without using a weapon
Easier said than done. You can only use your fists, so this is best left to the first episode and also on Normal difficulty. Carry a plethora of healing items with you, and try to dodge and run past any unnecessary zombies.

C-C-C-Combo!!
Get a Hit Streak over 200 then use a Skill Move
Best done right when the game starts. You will be in the mall surrounded by a massive amount of zombies, but you will have infinite amazing weapons. Get a hit streak of at least 201 and then either mash middle mouse button or Y+B (Xbox controller) to use a skill move.

Faaantastic!
Take an S-Rank Photograph
Near the beginning of the game when you are with Vick, you will enter a facility and you will see a lot of zombies. Simply take a photograph at this area, and you will get more than enough PP for this achievement.

Fashionista
Try on 100 different clothing items
Easy enough if you take your time when exploring the mall. Enter each store and look for items that you can try on. Do so, if you don't like them then you can just interact with them again to remove them.

Hey Big Spender
Spend 100,000 Scrap
You can find Scrap pretty much anywhere; from killing zombies to opening containers. You can spend Scrap at the vendors located in the mall, such as the clothing, food, and weapon vendors.

Otis Would Be Proud
Fully level up the Mall Emergency Shelter
You simply need to rescue 15 survivors to completely level up this shelter. It MUST be the one in the mall, not just any one.

Idol Worship
Find the Frank West Statue. Didn't there used to be more of these?
Simple enough if you're far enough along in the game. Watch the video for the exact location.

I do not own this video.
Trial Tips
Photography

Paparazzo: This is the only missable photography trial. You must photograph every person of interest. Generally, this only includes main characters, but to ensure that you do get everyone photographed, anytime you're around an NPC (that's not a survivor you saved) just pull out your camera. If your camera denotes that the person is a target of interest, focus on them and snap a picture.

S-Rank Capcom Tribute: In the mall, I believe it's upstairs, there's a store with a ton of Street Fighter merch; standees, arcade machines, posters, etc. There are two stores, but one is more lavish than the other. If you stand right outside and capture the entire store in the frame, you will get this trial.

S-Rank Conspiracy: This is easier to get when combining it with other photograph categories. You must get members of the military organization in the photo. I got this one by taking a picture as one of the flamethrower guys were dying, there was a military member in the background shooting me, and a ton of zombies in the background. It was outside in the middle of Old Town.

S-Rank Drama: You will come across people wearing gasmasks, some outside but primarily inside of the mall. They always have guns and are always out to get you. Take a picture of them surrounded by zombies. This may take a few attempts, but you'll eventually get it with a large enough crowd.

S-Rank Brutality: This is done while doing damage to zombies. Since you can't take pictures and attack at the same time, it's best done with a throwable or a weapon that detonates, such as the Slicing Beauty. It doesn't take much to get an S-Rank on this category, so you shouldn't have to try too many times.

S-Rank Horror: Needless to say, almost every photograph classifies as horror and you will most likely get this while gaining any other photography S-Rank (except probably the Capcom Tribute). There needs to be a LOT of zombies in the frame, and the more they're acting out the better. IE: Attacking you or someone else, so try to go for this when you're saving a survivor.

Humans vs. Zombies: You will get this when getting the S-Rank for Horror most likely. Just photograph a survivor who is surrounded by a ton of zombies, try to get in close as the zombies are attacking the survivor, and you should get at least an A-Rank which is all that is needed for this trial.

Slasher Flick: You should get this when going for the S-Rank Brutality photograph, so long as the photo you're taking is of zombies getting killed and not military or other humanoids.

Infighting: There are countless instances of military forces battling zombies. Capture a good photo and you will get this A-Rank based photo easily.

Feeding Frenzy: Fresh zombies are ones with glowing red eyes and they're really fast. They're the first "mutated" zombie you'll encounter. If you sneak up on an unsuspecting group, you can sometimes find zombies feasting. Just keep taking pictures of feeding zombies until you manage to get ones that are fresh.

Fresh Horde: There's a trial for getting 5 and 10 fresh zombies in one picture. You'll easily get the former, but the latter is more difficult. There are always an enormous amount of fresh zombies near the construction site just above West Ridge.

Evo Pack: It's hard to get 5 evolved zombies in one shot (the shirtless zombies with green glowing eyes) but luckily there's a part of the story that makes this trial much easier. It's during the end of chapter 5, and you will be sent to the sewers with some dynamite. After you blow the door/wall and continue on, you will come to a very dark room where Frank mentions how dark it is. Be slow and quiet, there are 5 evolved zombies in the room. If you have trouble getting them all in frame, wait until a 6th walks into the room a few minutes later.
Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf (DLC)
Holey Moley
Mini Golf - Play 20 holes
Co-Op games do not count. Othewise, self explanitory.

Pardonable
Mini Golf - Achieve par on a hole
Just in case you don't know, Par is how many swings it should take to get the ball into the hole. Par is shown in the upper right corner. Get the ball in the hole in that many shots; no more, no less.

Flip 'Em the Bird
Mini Golf - Achieve a birdie
Just in case you don't know, a Birdie is when you get the ball in the hole one stroke below Par. This should be easy enough to achieve.

Shoot the Moon
Mini Golf - Achieve an eagle
An Eagle is when you get the ball in the hole in 2 shots on a par 4, or 3 shots on a par 5. The second course, Golden Apple Vineyards, has a couple holes where an Eagle can be farmed if you're having issues.

Aceface
Mini Golf - Achieve a hole in one
Since it's mini golf, it isn't that hard. The very first hole is decent for this. Trial and error.

Perfect Day
Mini Golf - Play a perfect shot
When the meter reaches the very center of the green part, hit the A button; or whatever button is your "swing" action, depending on what control scheme you're using. This is easier with better clubs, as the "sweet spot" gets bigger.

Up to Snuff
Mini Golf - Achieve par on a course
This is the total sum of all the holes on the course; they must all be at Par, or better. If you go over Par on one hole, make sure you're under on another to balance it out. Golden Apple Vineyards is pretty easy for getting this.

Killer Drive
Mini Golf - Kill 5 zombies in one shot
Hit the ball into a big gathering of zombies, should be fairly easy.

Exterminator
Mini Golf - Kill 30 zombies on a course
Best saved for when you're not trying to get Par or Up to Snuff. Just keep hitting balls out into the crowds of zombies. It'll come over time.

Club Membership
Mini Golf - Unlock a new club type
Just buy a new club set from the shop. The level 2 clubs cost $10,000.

Flush
Mini Golf - Unlock all club types
You just buy them from the shop. The total cost is $535,000.

Stylin'
Mini Golf - Unlock a new costume
Just buy one from the shop. The cheapest one is $20,000.

Splurged
Mini Golf - Unlock all cosmetic items
This will be the most time consuming portion of this DLC. You will need a total of $1,902,000 to buy the following items:

Golf Clubs: $535,000
Golf Balls: $466,000
Exo Suits: $500,000
Helmets: $401,000

A Real Ball Buster
Use a Ball Buster on another player
Refer to #1 Ball Buster for more information.

Ball Busted!
Be the victim of a Ball Buster
Refer to #1 Ball Buster for more information.

#1 Ball Buster
Use every Ball Buster on other players
Ball Buster is done online. This can take several hours even with a boosting partner, (5-7 hours, roughly) since each time you hit a Ball Buster the one that you get is random. There are 9 Ball Busters in total. Golden Apple Vineyards has the easiest Ball Busters to hit.

Ball Swap: Balls swap places
Bouncy Ball: The ball bounces crazily when it hits the ground
Fast Swing Meter: Your swing meter moves quickly
Hidden Swing Meter: Your swing meter is hidden
No Arc: You can't see the arc of your shot
Personal Obstacle: An obstacle spawns in front of the ball (I saw a swinging anchor and a door that opens and closes)
Randomizer: Makes the swing meter go crazy
Reduced Shot Power: Shot power is cut in half (in practice this means the swing meter only goes halfway up)
Small Sweet Spot: The sweet spot to hit the ball is smaller

West Ridge: At the end of the road that leads to a dead end in the southeast corner of the map.

Entomologist
Frank Rising - Collect 10 evo wasps.
When you kill an Evolved Zombie, it will leave a wasp behind. You have to collect 10 of them.

Work Up an Appetite

Simply hit B + Y when the combo meter hits 50.

This Little Piggy
Frank Rising - Recover 10,000 health by Feasting.
To feast, press B + Y together. Do this instead of doing special attacks when you build up your combo meter. It'll come over time.

Royal Fool
Frank Rising - Collect all of the princess wasps.
Princess Wasps are marked as grey diamonds on the map. They'll show up as you progress through the story. They all have a mission pre-requisite though, such as surviving x amount of time or killing x amount of enemies, but it's traightforward. If you fail, retry.

Capcom Heroes (DLC)
Cosplay
Capcom Heroes - Complete the Capcom Heroes Dead Rising 4 story mode.
Story related, cannot be missed.

Clowning Around
Capcom Heroes - Visit Slappy's Fun Shack and Party Poppers in the Mall as Adam.
Slappy's Fun Shack is in the NW corner of Miami Boardwalk. Party Poppers is outside of the north exit of the Amazon Food Court. Make sure to be wearing Adam's costume.

The reason this is buggy is if you visited the two stores before getting the costume, the achievement won't pop until you visit an undiscovered location while wearing it. If you've already discovered everything, you'll have to start a new game.

Fighting in the Streets
Capcom Heroes - Beat-up 10 cars using a Street Fighter® Costume.
While wearing either Akuma, Cammy, M. Bison, Mecha-Zangief, or Ryu's costume, go find a car that's drivable and attack it until it's destroyed.

Ghost-Ride the Whip
Capcom Heroes - Complete an investigation using the Sissel Costume.
The easiest way to do this is unlock the Sissel costume as soon as possible, before Chapter 3 of the main story quest "Hunting the Monster". You'll go to the North Peak safe house, where the costume is bought, just before an investigation is done. You can also reload Case 1, continue until the mall safe house is cleared, then activate the Sissel costume from the arcade machine before doing the investigation.

Deep Dish Demons
Capcom Heroes - Eat 5 pizzas using the Dante Costume.
Just equip Dante's costume after unlocking it, and devour five pizzas. Best place to find them is at Hungry Joe's Pizza; one is in the Amazon Food Court, one is at the center of Old Town.

Tastes like Chicken
Capcom Heroes - Feast on 100 humans using the Zombie Frank Costume.
Note that this specifically requires human enemies. Charge your combo meter to 25 and then feast by pressing Y + B.

Chivalry is Dead
Capcom Heroes - Kill 100 zombies with a Ranged Attack using the Arthur Costume.
Spam RT to use the costume's long-ranged attack.

Charging My Laser
Capcom Heroes - Kill 200 enemies using Mega Man's Mega Buster.
Spam RT to use the costume's long-ranged attack.

Crack Shot
Capcom Heroes - Kill 50 enemies with headshots using the Jill Valentine Costume.
Spam RT to use the costume's long-ranged attack.

Satsui no Hado
Capcom Heroes - Kill 100 enemies with Akuma's Raging Demon attack.
Charge your combo meter. Once you hit 25, press X + Y near a big group of enemies.

I'd like some pound cake
Capcom Heroes - Kill 500 enemies using Ryu's Hurricane Kick attack.
Charge your combo meter. Once you hit 25, press X + Y near a big group of enemies.

Frank Is Back
Capcom Heroes - Stun 500 zombies using the Classic Frank Costume.
Charge your combo meter. Once you hit 25, press X + Y near a big group of enemies.

Bison Dollars
Capcom Heroes - Earn 5000 Scrap using the M. Bison Costume.
A quick way of getting this is to just access a bank machine or two while wearing the M. Bison costume.

The Red Cyclone
Capcom Heroes - Kill 20 enemies using Zangief's Cyclone Lariat attack.
Just spam the Y button while wearing the costume.

Treasure Hunter
Capcom Heroes - Find all Capcom Treasures.
This has to be done to unlock some costumes anyway. Just buy the maps at the safe houses so that the collectibles will show on the map.

Gong Show
Capcom Heroes - Break the gong in Old Town using the Amaterasu Costume.
These are the only collectible locations that can't be bought. Luckily, all three arel ocated in West Ridge; two on the rooftops of the farm that is SW of the dam, and the other on a rooftop of the building SE of the farm, NW of the Fireworks Stand. After you unlock the costume, go to the gong at Zheng's Kung Fu Academy (SW part of Old Town, between B. Reddy Insurance Office and Big Buck Hardware) and break it.
Capcom Heroes 2 (DLC)
Challenge Accepted
Capcom Heroes - Complete all Hero Training for a single Costume.
Refer to Capcom Hero for more information.

Capcom Hero
Capcom Heroes - Complete all Hero Training.
To unlock a Hero Training Session for a costume, you must unlock the costume first. Refer to Full Wardrobe for more information on the requirements. You need to beat both Sessions. The following is the full list of locations for the Hero Training Sessions.

Full Wardrobe
Capcom Heroes - Unlock all of the Capcom Heroes Costumes.
In total, there are 34 costumes to unlock; 17 main, and 17 shadow variants. All shadow variants, except Classic Frank, are unlocked by finishing the second level of a character's costume training. They are pretty straightforward challenges, such as killing x enemies in a certain amount of time, kill x enemies with a certain weapon, etc. For costumes that require collectibles, except the Amaterasue ones, the maps can be bought in safe houses. The prerequisites for unlocking costumes that are not unlocked by beating the Hero Training Sessions are as follows:

Adam the Clown: Finish case 2.
Akuma: Find all 60 collectible stars. The last one will be the one on the roof of the Fireworks Stand in the farm area of West Ridge.
Amaterasu: Find all 3 Amaterasu collectibles. See "Gong Show" for their locations.
Arthur: Finish case 3.
Bass: Buy it at the West Ridge emergency shelter.
Cammy: Buy it from the Mall emergency shelter.
Classic Frank: You start with this, and revert to it anytime another costume’s time expires.
Classic Frank (Shadow): Finish case 6.
Dante: Find 4 collectible stars.
Jill Valentine: Finish case 5.
M. Bison: Find 15 collectible stars.
Mech-Zangief: Buy it at the Old Town emergency shelter.
Mega Man X: Find 2 collectible stars. This is unmissable, and will be unlocked during case 0.
Morrigan: Finish case 4.
Ryu: Finish case 0.
Sissel: Buy it at the North Peak emergency shelter.
Viewtiful Joe: Finish case 1.
Zombie Frank: Find 30 collectible stars.

Still stuck on tape it or die fantastic, missing 2. I have the DLC weapons, those might be the ones you were missing from the title. I've gotten all pickups for blueprints so I've got no clue what I'm missing. :/ No players to do multiplayer with either, feels bad! I love DR 4
