How to not suck with Warden
  • Warden is slow you see.
So first thing you wanna make a habit out of is PARRYING.
Let them come to you and capitalize on their gun-ho attitude. The only class you'll have any real trouble parrying is that spear using Nobushi. You'll just have to block them until you get your timing down. Even then I wouldn't advise parrying them, their combos are super fast and you do NOT wanna end up with that bleeding status.
Never and I mean NEVER overextend with Warden, that followup attack will get you killed 8/10 times. You're far too slow to be trying to combo an Orochi ya ding dong.

  • Warden has decent reach, and you should use that accordingly. Your zone clear attack is not only fast but it covers a wide area. This is great for catching those pesky Peacemakers who move at sonic speeds. Another good thing to do is to backstep when people are attacking and then upper light attack them, this is a fast way to punish people who aren't thinking. It's just a matter of getting the timing down.

  • Do not be afraid to guard break, it's in the game so it's okay. Just be a bit sparse on the use or they'll figure out your pattern. Guard breaks are the best way for a warden to land that decisive damage without getting punished. Slide one in every once in a while against a Nobushi and they'll start sweating. Always go for the heavy during a guard break, that lame light attack aint gonna be worth the effort. Your heavy attacks are generally too dang slow to hit anyone so this will be your chance to lay down the damage.

  • Spacing is everything with a warden, once you've played enough you'll get an idea of the reach of each class, with the use of backsteps and parrying you'll punish the ignorant with ease. If you time your backstep and then shoulder charge, you can stun them if you managed to actually hit (50/50 chance so I generally don't do it).
Another thing you really need to learn early on is to feint. Feinting will always throw off the average player, go from a left heavy to an up light and you'll get the hit if you have the right spacing. I guarantee it.

Now naturally this stuff isn't going to come to you in one fight, be patient and you'll eventaully see how utterly incompetant the other factions players are when you parry the one combo that they know. I hope these few tips might help you wipe out those brutish northerners and slipery easterners.
