Without giving you coordinates (where's the fun in exploration if you know where everything is?) I'll teach you the basic to survival and what's available as of right now.

Lets get started!

You've ejected before crashing, with you were your trusty companion droid and a few supplies.

The fall however has breached your suit!

Patch it with the conveniently named patch tape!

Next you'll need to locate your weapons, this planet is hostile afterall.

Now that you're armed grab those medical supplies you jetisoned just in case a run in with your new neighbors goes awry.

Finally find your inflatable dome! Your home for a bit where you can hide and pray for daylight.

But before you place it let's move onto the next step.
Where to live?
Before you place that dome you might want to consider your surroundings.

For example:
  • Are hostiles going to spawn on top of my base and wreck me everytime I step foot outside my dome?
  • Are there resources nearby?
  • How far will I have to travel for magnesium or hydrogen?
  • Is there room to expand my colony?
  • Are there abundant sources of Iron or Aluminum nearby in a way that my droids can path to them and mine?

The rule of thumb is: Mob free, near some hydrogen, and Magnesium isn't an expedition.
Most of the other common stuff is everywhere so you should be okay.

Plop 'er down! Hold F or LMB till the bar fills all the way to 100 to get the most hp for your structure. Remember this since you do it for everything!

Now let's go into detail a bit on the different resources.
Resources (WIP)
I'll be adding to this until I have all the current stuff in.
ORES:
Iron

Probably the most common resource, and also the most used. I tend to let my droid mine this for me.

Aluminum

Almost as common as Iron, its used as often as iron. Also something I have mined by droids.

Plutonium

Uncommon. Almost always by a Crab Monster.

Copper

Uncommon. Typically found near other resources.

Titanium

Uncommon.

Magnesium

Semi-Rare. Only found in craters. Always watch for giant worms.

Carbon

Uncommon. Almost always near Hydrogen Geysers.

Lead
Uncommon. Few uses.

Gold

Rare.

Lithium

Rare. Found near cave entrances.

Diamond

Extremely Rare. Only found deep underground in caves.

GASES:

Hydrogen

Common. Yellow color. USED FOR PLASTIC IN LARGE QUANTITIES! YOU NEED THIS HxC!

Oxygen

Common. Blue color. Used for water and assumingly, for replenishing air supplies later.

Chlorine

Uncommon. Green color.

Nitrogen

Rare. White color.

OTHER:

Rubber

Common. Gathered from Rubber trees. Much easier than crafting.

Berries

Uncommon. Gathered from Berry Trees. Consumable.

Alien Meat

Gathered from Aliens. Can be cooked in the kitchen. Consumable.
Moving on.
Alright supposing you've found the spot you want to call home.
Start gathering resources and get that forge built.

As you gather your resources you may notice:
  • Running/walking is slow.
  • Mining is tedious.
  • My inventory is small.

Well I've got a solution for your woes!
1. Boost jumping.
Instead of hoofing it like a scrub, just dequip your tools with 'E' and press forward and hit space bar twice and hold. Now we're talking. You can do this as long as you don't hit 200% inventory weight. 199.5% is acceptable. Boost on!

2. Make your droid get the common stuff. Walk up to him and select 'Patrol & Mine' then place the orb over an ore node.

But wait, there's no option for that!

That's because,
3. BUILD A DEPOSITORY!

Its a handy storage container that your droids can dump into.
However keep in mind that droid pathing is AWFUL right now. Also they unload at the side of the depository that doesn't have the neat little description screen on it.

I like to space mine out a little more than the droids width so it can find its way. Like so:

Also if you equip the multi-tool you can open the droid's inventory, or give it a nice nickname.

Now that you've got a place to put stuff, go ahead and alleviate yourself of all that heavy water, healing stuff, and the stupid limited ammo assualt rifle. Yeah its stronger but you'll be out of ammo quickly and you can't craft another for a while if you die. Keep that pistol though, its unlimited ammo and if you get to shooting from a distance, you can kill them before they even get to you.

Now gathering the magnesium. Its found in craters. Craters come with their own danger.
GIANT WORMS.
As soon as you step foot in the crater you will see it.

It travels in a pretty straight line to where you were when it triggered so just move left or right as fast as you can.

Just missed me.

Luckily it only triggers only once everytime you step into the crater, meaning once you dodge it you're good for that trip in. Typically it launches straight ahead of you but it can vary.

Which brings up another subject, Aliens!
Creatures of the Night...and Day.
So here's the known creatures so far. I'm not sure if they scale to player level or what but they all seem to be level one.

Young Crab Monster

Runs at you and tries to tackle you, then retreats and repeats.

Larvae Skeliopod

Slithers up and smacks into you and continues on its path then moves a bit away and repeats.

Orcek

Charges at you.

Crawler

Runs at you and claws you.

Tumbo
(looks like a tortoise)
Rams you with its head.

(Large beetle alien, the name eludes me)

Rams you.

Gnats
(look like the demons from doom)
These b******s come at night. They are the hardest to kill. They jump at you and claw you. They can breach your suit with their attacks. Only come at night when alien level is set to anything above casual.

Parasites
(look like small round bugs. Kinda like a roomba but more fleshy.)
These guys are quick but one hit will kill it. They hangout near trees(rubber, berry, non-useful).

GIANT WORM! (I know you've been waiting for this one.)

Triggered when walking into craters. One shot kills you as you get nommed like a tasty treat. It is godmode, it cannot be killed....
Building your colony! (Finally amirite?)
Alright now you've got your forge up, your droids supplying you with ore and you've gathered some nice stuff. It's finally time to build your base.

Tips:
  • Build in large flat areas.
  • Two domes can't be built in the same area, as of right now. Kinda defeats the purpose of multiplayer co-op though.
  • The bottoms of each structure is how much tolerance you have in ground deformation. Meaning you can't have the bottom above the top of the ground or the structure below. This is why you want a flat area.
  • You'll probably want it near your initial setup.
  • Don't place it in the middle of your droid's mining path. IT WILL GET STUCK and then you will either have to take it by the hand and guide it or build a depository on the side of the base that the ore is on.
  • YOU CAN'T JOIN TWO HABITATS TOGETHER! D:< WHAT?! I really hope they change this. They can't even be near each other like the domes.
  • Breaking a structure yeilds no material refund. PLAN ACCORDINGLY!

Alright lets get to crafting!

Make the steel in the forge:

and the Glass too:

But wait, you need sand!
Craft a Shovel!

Sand is tricky, just try around till you get some. Typically small mounds in the terrain is what works for me.

Now you got a beautiful new...

Wait it has no walls? WHAT?
Yeah you gotta get out your multi-tool and build them individually. So go mine some more pleb.

You got Normal walls which you can place habitat furniture/equipment on:

Window walls, Fancy!

Be wary though, they may look nice but you can't place any habitat furniture in front of these. (credit Scuba Steve)

And Coupler walls. These are used to connect a hallway or airlock and then another structure to the habitat.

Then you gotta build an airlock.

Then an oxygenator. The oxygen replenishing zone only activates in the habitat itself, not all connected structures...for some reason. Science!

Now you have a pressurized base! Congrats!

(to be continued)
FAQ
Here I'll try to explain or answer some questions you have!

Q: I can't place the Gas Tank or the Large Gas Tank, what gives?
A: They aren't implemented yet.

Q: What do the lounge, shower, climate controller, computer desk, solar panel, etc do?
A: Nothing at the moment, watch for future updates.

Q: Can you kill the Giant Worm?
A: No. Though I wonder if that will change in the future?

Q: Where did my robot go? (Asked by Yesterday's Jam)
A: If you've lost your robot there currently isn't a way to summon it to you. You'll have to find it, chances are though if it was left somewhere hostile it was destroyed. Just build the lab and make a new one.

Q: What do the Sattelites do? (Asked by Darklordewa48)
A: They are supposed to make your gps have a radar function detecting nearby ores, monsters and players. Probably within a certain range.

Q: How do I gather gases? (Asked by [HIVE] Hippoop)
A: You can only gather gases by using the gas tanks crafted from the forge.

Q: Whats the deal with blueprints and points? (Asked by Tengage)
A: Their use is not yet implemented.

Q: Found a random door in the wilderness, what's it's purpose? (Asked by Fiery Ashes)
A: I wonder the same thing. Will have to wait and see.

I'll be reading the comments for more questions and concerns!
Credits and a Note from the OP
Credits go to my girlfriend and I for putting the time into the game and me for thoroughly photographing everything.

Credit to Scuba Steve for recommending the Windowed Wall tip!

Hey, this is a WIP. More content will come as I redocument everything in my spare time in single player. I'll keep an eye out for comments and add your tips (with credit of course), suggestions and questions! Have fun!

End Breif.
