1. locating save games
To find your save games, you will need to browse to:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.madgarden\DR2C

Or the name of your drive. You can search for DR2C if needs be.

Inside you will find a number of files, save files are
0.slot
0.save

and so on for 1.save, 1.slot and your other saves.

The file we will be editing is .save file, which contains all the data on items stats and characters.

I RECOMMEND MAKING A BACKUP OF THE CONTENTS OF THIS FOLDER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE A SAVE. IT'S EASY TO MAKE A MISTAKE AND MESS THEM UP.
2. Opening the save file
The save files can be opened and edited in notepad since it is just text, though I would recommend something like notepad++ since it has paragraphs. Notepad just bundles it into giant lines.

It's still easy to edit using cntrl+f to find the specific parts I will mention so it's not a problem.
IF you use notepad, when I say "add a new line", don't, just add it next to the previous word with a single space.
3. Adding supplies
Once you are in, you can easily add supplies - ammo, food, petrol, meds

Search (cntrl + f) for

1 trunk.loot!

You should find part of the file that reads:

The left most number is the amount you have - in this case I have set them all to 9999 (I am not sure if this is a maximum - have not tried any higher) (Line numbers may differ depending on your characters - ignore that)

the next number refers to the supply it represents. Below is a guide:

1 trunk.loot! - food
2 trunk.loot! - fuel
3 trunk.loot! - medicine
4 trunk.loot! - pistol
5 trunk.loot! - rifle
6 trunk.loot! - shotgun

Once you have edited them, just save and launch the game.
4. Adding/changing weapons
This bit is a little trickier but not much.

Below the part showing your supplies, you will find your items.

NOTE: If you have no items, nothing will be there

Search (cntr+f) for

0 trunk.loot!

Beneath this line you can enter items. To do this add a line thusly:

x y trunk.weapon!

Repalce X and Y with desired values. X denotes the amount of this item and Y denotes the item itself. (ITEM CODES IN NEXT SECTION)

E.g. 94 is the number for a broom, so

1 94 trunk.weapon!

this would give you 1 broom.

3 94 trunk.weapon!

this would give you 3 brooms. And so on.

To add other items, simply add another line and type in a new item.

Here you can see the highlighted parts where I have entered my items (14 items) and then the save file continues onto other parts. Again line numbers may differ depending on number of characters. Dead characters remain in the save file.

Some items cannot be moved from a characters equipped slot, e.g. the wand, there is a "nodrop" slot for this. You can however change this using the save file. To put an item directly into their equipped slot, search for the chracters name, e.g. Bryn

Then keep progressing through the text until you find

21 2 #c .weapona!
25 2 #c .weaponb!
22 2 #c .weaponc!

Weapon A, B, and C are the 3 you currectly have equipped. The first number can be changed just as it could for the inventory weapons. The second number refers to the character number, so in this case I was editing character 2. Note that I only had 1 character at the time, but character 1 (my first) had died but his data remains in the save file. Do not edit this second number.
5. Item codes
I have not yet done all the items but I have a relatively good list.
You can easily just try a number not on here to see what you get - again backup the save incase your number causes it to crash which I imagine is what will happen if you use an invalid number (or it might default to 0)

NOTE: Some items are set so they cannot be traded or dropped. E.g. the wand. It is still possible to swap them around characters but it via a bug that I cannot reliably reproduce. So be warned, it may be better to put these directly into your characters equipped slot.

6. Character stats
Editing the characters stats is even easier. Open the save, and serch for

#c .stat!

You will find a list of stats, and there will be a seperate lsit for each character.

The highlighted section is the characters stats.

6 12 1 #c .stat!
0 12 1 #c .knownstat!
0 12 1 #c .bonus!

Each stat has 3 parts, and each part has 3 numbers.
1st number: actual value (this is the one we will edit)
2nd number: which stat is this (key below)
3rd number: character number (don't touch)

So if we want all our stats to be known (this means we can see our stats ingame) we can change the lef most number in the .knownstat! row to a 1 instead of a 0

1 12 1 #c .knownstat! -this stat will now be known.

Of more interest though is the left mist number in the .stat! row, this is the one to change to edit your stats. Values seem to go from 0-6, with 0 being lowest and 6 being the max. No harm seems to come from entering values higher than this though. I normally enter 99, and also 99 into the .bonus! far left number if I am just trying to max it out. It's worth doing this since if you then lose 1 morale ingame, it will drop to 98 and so still really be maxed out.

NOTE: when I entered 99 I noticed the smiley face that shows how good the stat is started flashing, suggesting 6 is not the max. The flashing did not occur when I tried 7,8,9 so I do not know what the max is, but again I just use 99.

Below is a list showing which middle number corresponds to what stat:

12: ?
11: fitness
10: movement speed*
9: strength
8: shooting
7: mechanical
6: medical
5: loyalty
4: wits
3: ?
2: composure
1: morale
0: attitude

*If you set this to 99 you're gonna fly lol. I recommend 10 for movement speed with 0 bonus

I have not yet managed to work out what 12 and 3 do. Think it might be another gun related stat relevant to actual fighting.

You can also see the perk and trait listed above, you can type in different ones if you wish, get the names from the character creation screen.

HEALTH:

The health stat is near the player name, search for c .health!
You will find something like...

3 1 #c .health!

You will have 1 of these for each character (in different places though)
The first number is the health number (we will change this) and the second is your characters number, don't touch this.

You can set it to 99 but I think 6 is the max, and in this case no matter what you set it to it will go back to 6.
7. Vehicle
If you search for

vehicle.which!

you will find a single number next to it. Change this to change your vehicle. 1 is the starting car, 2 is the van, and you'll just have to work out the rest...

You can also search for

0 ' car-armor <to
3 ' car-max-armor <to
2 ' car-speed <to
4 ' car-max-speed <to
1 ' car-mpg <to
4 ' car-repair <to

any of these values.

If you want your car to not break change whatever value is next to this line (mine was 0)
0 ' car-armor <to
to 9
8. What else?
I have not experimented beyond that which is in this guide, but you can see in the save file a large number of stats both for characters and your car, your days and events.. You can play around with them but I had no desire to work out what is what.

Attitude is 1 and morale is 0 could you please fix that? I tested it, and those are the only two you got wrong somehow.

Yeah same here. Only way to end the run was killing the Prime Minister

Curiously when I change literally anything then when I load the game up again it says "NO GAME MODE" instead of whatever I was playing on - which softlocks the game at the finale. Everything else seems to still work though.

Slot 1 doesn't exist Save File doesn't exist!

My game deleted itself. All my characters are there, but everything else is gone. This guide.. it doesn't work. I searched everywhere for C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.madgarden\DR2C. It DOESN'T EXIST. I can't find what you're talking about at all. I found that thing your supposed to edit somehow though, but it doesn't say Save at the end. Messing with it does literally nothing as well. What am I doing wrong?!

more on vitality:

from what i've noticed/experienced, even at 99 your toon might die, specifically if overwhelmed by hordes of zombies (one of mine - AI though - died while crossing the border,) for while it takes about 1 or 2 seconds for a zombie to start damaging your toon - they need to be able to grab her, hence guides tell you to dodge whenever possible, - once they begin it, they can multi-hit, which means instead of doing only 1 health dmg, it increases to 2.

now, imagine a horde simultaneously hitting your toon. if controlled by player you might be able to switch to an op weapon like chainsaw and escape, if AI it usually means death as they are as dumb AF - might be prevented if toon has, for instance, chainsaw, and combat type is quickly changed to ranged/defence or maybe attack.

stat 3 - as mentioned - refers to charisma. not necessarily giving such toon the ability to charm vendors, but it usually influences the quantity of items (ammo, food, gas and medkits) during a purchase, example:

"Dogvendor likes Saguts so much that it gives him XX extra ammo"

Cool it stat has its own reference and stacks below vehicle info:

3 vehicle.which!
-26050 vehicle.variant!
100 vehicle.max_gas!
10 vehicle.motor.freq1!
75 vehicle.motor.freq2!
0.001 vehicle.motor.duty1!
0.8999999762 vehicle.motor.duty2!
2500 vehicle.motor.filt_low!
250 vehicle.motor.filt_high!
0.8000000119 vehicle.motor.q!
0 orders_combat!
2 orders_tactic!

about char stats:

12 - vitality hp. although whenever editing it, i strongly recommend updating same info lines above, where it reads something like:

"SAGUTS" 7 #c .name!
-1736123286 7 #c .seed!
3 7 #c .health! // where .health! refers to the ammount of health such char has currently. then if stat 12 is 3, and .health is 3, heart icon in game is full, stat 12 - 3 and health 2 or 1, heart no full and blinks, chars will try to heal that toon, consumming med kits.

Then, if you change 12 stat to, for instance, 99, also increase health to 99, example:

"SAGUTS" 7 #c .name!
-1736123286 7 #c .seed!
99 7 #c .health!

Otherwise - as stated above - they will try to heal your toon. If you put numbers above 3, toon's heart icon will display a blue-ish overlay, whereas at 6, heart icon is full covered with such overlay, at very high numbers (eg 99) such icon will display same overlay but will blink, although it doesnt imply that your toon is hurt/sick/whatever.

and about messing with loot finding, i believe you'd have to edit game internal codes, which should require advanced programming skills, since those files are compiled (i believe they used C or C+(+?)) then, in short, you can't. although i can tell you that loot is generated according to pre-generated deck cards and game internal tasks, and such commands are triggered on the go, like "char opened toiled, then select random card from deck", among those cards there are rare cards, and when it happens a new task is created to select a card from rare deck cards.

quite noice guide! cheers!

i know im sort of necroing comments here, but - since its been only weeks that i first played this game and its been on mobile:

@tools guy-kun: .lootamt! refers to the ammount of loot such char is carrying during a mission. numbers refer to loot-type and quantity, loot-types are the same found in trunk.loot whereas:

1 - food
2 - gas
3 - med kits
4 onwards - ammo

game ignores any editing on lootamt because chars carry no loot while on the road, only situation you can save the game. if edit 'em when on a mission, game may crash - havent tried though. from what ive read on game files, lootamt also has to do with game internal commands to generate weapons when beginning a new game and/or recruiting a new char.
