Wildstar Dominion Lore
By Cosmic Shark
The Dominion is an empire that spans across a large portion of the known galaxy. They are made up of the Cassians, Draken, Chua, and Mechari. They believe that Nexus is their divine right, given to them by the Eldan, who they believe ascended to godhood. They aim to conquer Nexus and finally defeat the Exiles after centuries of hunting them.

Cassians and Mechari:Cassus and Colonies
  • The Dominion, being an empire, has many colonies under its rule.

  • The colonies can have different cultures, but all follow the Vigilant Church and serve the Dominion.

  • Cassus is a temperate, green world.

  • Cassus is the seat of the Dominion empire.

  • Although Mechari were originally created in a foundry on Nexus, there is a foundry orbitting Cassus. Originally, their numbers were limitted, but since the Eldan vanished, more and more were created to the point where there are new Mechari made every year. Chua are not allowed to help in their creation. It is unknown how the exanite used for the Mechari soul cores is created.

  • Some Mechari were found in the foundry orbitting Nexus and activated, but had no memory of what happened.

Draken: Mikros
  • Mikros is a tidally locked planet, one side perpetually facing the sun and the other perpetually facing away from it. The former is scorching hot and bright, the latter is freezing cold and pitch black.

  • Draken live in the twilight band, the area between the two extremes, where the sky is in perpetual twilight.

  • Mikros is volcanic and arid along the twilight band. There is a lot of desert. The predators are dangerous. It's generally unpleasant.

  • The most dangerous volcano is Mount Crucible, where ceremonial blades are forged and no outsider except Artemis Zin has ever managed to climb.

  • There is a certain Draken holiday where they go around killing anything that moves. It is dangerous to visit Mikros on that day.

Chua: Bezgelor
  • Completely stripped of resources.

  • Covered in toxins that are dangerous to everyone except Chua.

  • Filled with industrial machines and buildings.

  • Has two moons, Pergo and Pago, which the Chua originally worshipped.
Cassians (and Luminai)
  • Led by Emperor Myrcalus, who also rules the entirety of the Dominion.

  • Cassian first names come from Eldan and Luminai names, while their surnames are from Cassian nobility. However, it is confirmed that Cassians can indeed have any real world name.

  • Cassians are seperated by a class divide. Highborn are Cassians who can trace their ancestry all the way back to Dominus, while Lowborn are those who cannot. Luminai are those with extremely high concentrations of Eldan blood in them, leading to a distinctive alien-like appearance.

  • Cassian Highborn and Luminai speak formally and prefer not to use contractions. Some can be condescending to those below them. Lowborn are direct, concise, and usually have a cockney accent.

  • While not truly fanatics, they are very proud and are convinced they are meant to rule. They see themselves as liberators, bringing enlightenment to the less fortunate.

  • The average Cassian lives around 100 years, with Highborn living longer due to their Eldan genetics. Some Highborn have managed to live for centuries.

  • Luminai and Highborn Cassians can be afflicted with strange genetic diseases.

  • The majority of Cassians on Nexus are Highborn.

  • Highborn are usually taller than the average Human.

  • Highborn with higher concentrations of Eldan blood can be taller, thinner, have a more defined bone structure, and have lighter hair color.

  • The first Luminai was Dominus, created in a lab by merging the primal patterns of Tresayne Toria and an Eldan. Every Luminai after was his descendant.

  • Luminai now are only permitted to marry and have children with each other, leading to inbreeding.

  • Cassian industry varies immensely. They do pretty much anything.

  • Cassians follow the doctrine of the Vigilant Church. (See bottom for Scions.) Some join it as clerics and priests. Some serve as Inquisitors, who root out heretics.

  • Cassian territories are led by a governer, chosen by one of the Great Houses of the Luminai. Below the governor is the prefect who runs smaller communities and reports to the governor. Vigilant Church missions are ruled by a high priest. All communities follow Imperial traditions and always pay their respects to the Emperor.

  • Cassians revere the Mechari, tolerate the Chua, and respect the Draken.

The Scions:
  • Azrion: Scion of Strength. His icon is a sword.

  • Korol: Scion of Devotion. His icon is flowers.

  • Tristan: Scion of Courage. Her icon is a chalice.

Draken
  • The most prominent Draken in the Dominion is Kezrek Warbringer, general of all Dominion forces. He became general after dueling his predecessor (Zarkuna One-Horn) to give him an honorable death after his failure. He wears his skull on his pauldron as a reminder.

  • Draken first names are usually two syllables or more and have hard consonant and long vowel sounds. Surnames are descriptive nicknames or honorary titles.

  • Draken males generally talk loudly, aggressively, and gruffly. Females speak more huskily and commanding. Both have low growls. Their humor is dry, violent, and macabre.

  • Male Draken form the majority of the Dominion's military. Even off the battlefield they can be aggressive. Females are as just as bloodthirsty, but are more elegant and ruthless in combat. They are less impulsive than the males and are usually canny and calculating. They give slow deaths. Male Draken, however, are not mindless brutes and are capable of strategy, as shown by Kezrek Warbringer and Clanlord Makaza.

  • Draken seek mostly to prove their strength even further on Nexus and defeat the Exiles.

  • Draken can live up to 120 to 130 years on average and they reach maturity at the age of 20.

  • Draken have thick skin with scales in certain areas and long tails. Their appearance is both mammalian and reptillian. They all have horns on their head that are constantly growing and regrow if removed. They have to trim their horns.

  • Draken are warm blooded, able to survive extremes of temperatures (but not either extremes of Mikros), are resistant to many forms of solar radiation, and give birth to litters of four to six hatchlings. They seemingly lack hair except for their heads and ends of their tails.

  • Draken offspring are born in strange leathery egg-like membranes that are removed within a few days of their birth. Draken hatchlings usually eat each other to survive.

  • Draken continue to use, for the most part, primitive technologies on Mikros and in their settlements.

  • Their industry mainly focuses on weapon and armor rafting.

  • Draken follow laws called the Blood Covenants. This is permitted by the Vigilant Church. The Draken gods are Shezka, Werza, Ravok, Hazak, and Fazaar. (More information at the bottom.)

  • There is a branch of Draken who follow the Dark Rites, a twisted form of the Blood Covenants. These are called necroshaman and they worship twisted versions of the Draken gods who they believe live in the dark side of Mikros. They dabble in black sorcery in the form of necromancy and evil blood magic. Most were hunted down by Draken and those that remain still are.

  • Draken villages are led by Clanlords. They are usually male but can be female, and they are considered to be the strongest of the clan. Their second in command and closest advisor is the Warmaster, who leads the clan while the Clanlord is absent. There are also Firewalkers, Draken who train on hot coals, burning metal, or open lava beds who lead a small group of clan members in battle. Each clan has at least one Bloodshaman, who officiates ceremonies and serves as a spiritual leader to make sure the Blood Covenants are followed. They also take on students.

  • Clanlords generally have elite bodyguards in their hall surrounding them. These can be either male or female and may or may not be involved romantically with the Clanlord. They can also be advisors. Usually, the elite bodyguards are female.

  • Draken have a drink called cheesewine that seemingly everyone but themselves hates.

  • Draken write novels and poetry that are Shakespearean in nature, featuring everything from romance to war. There is a famous novel involving a Draken and Mechari pairing.

  • Draken culture emphasizes combat, but some Draken have been known to deviate from this. Initially this can cause problems, but Draken usually understand if the one who deviated shows a passion for what they wish to do. There are Draken chefs and even politicians.

  • Male Draken don't have nipples.

  • Warpigs are loyal and celebrated beasts among the Draken. The Warpig and its rider usually develop a close bond.

  • The Draken respect every Dominion species. In battle, they target Granok to test their skills.

  • Draken marriages are called Bloodpacts and generally involve the pair hunting prey together.

  • Clanblood is blood from each clan member kept in a cauldron which bloodshamans use for their magic.

  • Highclans are an alliance of clans caused by one clan defeating another. Led by High Clanlords.

Draken Covenants:
  • Shezka, goddess of strength and endurance.

  • Werza, goddess of wisdom and strategy.

  • Ravok, god of courage and fury.

  • Hazak, god of loyalty, honor, and blood. Nicknamed "the Bloodfather."

  • Fazaar, god of spirit, fire, and savagery.
Chua
  • The most prominent Chua in the Dominion is Mondo Zax. An insane inventor who is cruel even by Chua standards.

  • Chua names are completely ridiculous. First names are usually two syllables, last names are 1-2 syllables. They usually contain alliteration.

  • Chua speak in short, quick sentences and usually omit "I". ("Chua blew up Exile tank! Big boom!"). They usually praise themselves and insult others. (Except Mondo Zax. For safety reasons.)

  • They are malicious, devious, and amoral. Generally. They are hyper-intelligent and excel in science and engineering. They are extremely arrogant, sometimes develop god complexes, and like to play cruel pranks. They prefer to speak as efficiently as possible. They do not use proper grammar at all because their brains are working too rapidly.

  • Chua are motivated by SCIENCE.

  • They live to be 50-60 on average.

  • It is impossible to tell which one is male or female at a glance. The secret to Chua reproduction (As discovered by a Reddit user in the "Lore Questions? Hit me!" lore post): "...male Chua produce both eggs and sperm, but the eggs are biologically inactive, and that female Chua produce both eggs and sperm, but the sperm are biologically inactive. How, mechanically, they transport the biologically active sperm cell(s) to the biologically active egg cell(s) is presumably something that only they need to know -- but presumably, however it's done, it involves morphologically identical organs that are covered by the tighty-whiteys they wear under their armor."

  • Chua engage in large-scale industry such as lumbering or mining. They also conduct SCIENCE and usually focus on weapons development.

  • Ancient Chua used to worship the moons Pergo and Mago, but now they are either followers of SCIENCE. SO HOLY. Or are practicing members of the Vigilant Church.

  • Chua communities are called collectives. They have usually 30-40 adult Chua and about 20 apprentices referred to as minions (who have a high death rate due to dangerous experiments). Young Chua compete to become the minions of prominent Chua scientists, while those Chua scientists compete to bring in the most prospective minions.

  • Chua respect Cassians, are fascinated by and fear Mechari, and respect Draken. Although they like to push Draken buttons to get a reaction.

  • Chua language is a strangely modified form of Spanish.

  • The principle that powers Chua technology is called cozmotronics and is commonly used as an adjective.

  • Chua are oddly resistant to radiation and pollutants, likely due to exposure on Bezgelor. They are not immune to them, however.
Mechari
  • Led by Axis Pheydra. While Emperor Myrcalus is the leader of all the Dominion, she pulls the strings to make sure the Dominion stays strong.

  • The first created Mechari are called Millenials and are of extremely great importance to the function of the Dominion, newer Mechari are called Initiates.

  • Mechari first names have technological origins while their surnames come from the specific fabrication area of the Foundry in which they were created.

  • Mechari have deep, ominous, and mechanical voices. They are not prone to emotional outbursts in speech.

  • Mechari are generally ruthless and calculating, putting importance on the continuation of the Dominion, no matter who needs to die. They constantly analyze situations and search for threats to the empire so that they may be eliminated.

  • Mechari have a prime directive to ensure the survival of the Dominion. They also wish to be reunited with their original creators, the Eldan. There has never been a case of a Mechari betraying the Eldan or the Dominion. Despite this, some Mechari seem to have concluded the best way to assist the Dominion is for them to work through COGS, a neutral group of scientists.

  • Mechari are immortal as long as their soul-cores aren't critically damaged. Their chassis is only the container. They can, however, be physically deactivated, but this does not kill them.

  • Mechari chassis reflect Eldan design with an Exanite soul-core of varying colors contained in the head. Their chassis is detailed depending on what they were created for and which part of the Foundry they were manufactured, although Mechari are able to change their appearance with attachments or modifications.

  • Mechari are able to feel pain and pleasure, but are able to shut the ability to feel off at any time.

  • Newly created Mechari lack emotions and empathy, but as Mechari age, they can develop their own feelings, desires, opinions, personalities, etc.. Mechari can dream.

  • Mechari consume food and drink for power generation and they can get drunk.

  • Mechari do not engage in traditional forms of industry usually, as this can easily be left to the Chua. Mechari usually serve the ICI.

  • Mechari revere the Eldan, but younger ones have varying levels of faith. All serve the Vigilant Church faithfully, however.

  • Mechari communities are called junctions, but they are used as outposts for gathering information. They contain an infocolumn that Mechari upload all data gathered into. These junctions are led by an Axis, who directs the junction in its operations. ICI agents commonly report to junctions.

  • Mechari keep an eye on the Luminai, as they sometimes have hedonistic and tumultuous tendencies.

  • Mechari, respect and value the members of the Dominion.

  • Vorios the False (1433 AE - 1615 AE): Eighth Dominion emperor. He was a noble of House Chaul whose reign is marked by economical stagnation and social unrest in the Dominion. Myrcalus overthrew him after fighting his way to the palace and killing him.

  • Myrcalus the Vindicator (1615 AE - Present) Ninth Dominion emperor, cousin of Jarec the Vigilant. He rallied the Draken bodyguards against Vorios and slew him using Azrion's blade, Indominar. For bringing the Dominion out of the dark times, he was given the title "The Vindicator". Some people refer to him as "Dominus Reborn".
