Intro
Now Addons are not absolutely needed to play the game but it is extremely recommended to have a few if you plan on Raiding. You can get Addons for Wildstar through Curse. And with any downloads always be careful. When it comes to installing an Addon for Wildstar it is not as straight forward. If you use the Curse Client then it is easy with a click of a button. If you prefer to do it manually you will need to know how to get to Wildstar’s Addon folder and install.
To Manually Install (Windows 8 & 10):
  • On your Keyboard press Window Key & R to bring up the Run Window.
  • Type in Open, “%appdata%” & click OK. This will bring up User >AppData > Roaming Window.
  • Locate the NCSOFT Folder, open it & locate the Wildstar Folder.
  • Open addons Folder & drag the specific (unzipped) addon into it.
  • If already online with Wildstar, do a /reloadui to refresh & check the Addons tab to see if the addon is there & turned on.

If the Addon is not on, double click it’s name to bring up the load window & check the Load Addon radio. You might see “Game API: #. Addon supports API: #” in red. It means the Addon is out of date but you can force load it by checking “Ignore version mismatch and force load Addon.” You will need to reload your UI (User Interface) which you can do with the Reload UI button towards the bottom right corner. Don’t be alarmed if an Addon is broken, you can always turn it off.
Recommended Addons
TapThat – This Addon does the Simons and Tapping mechanics for you. It can save time and stress. Mandatory for the Datascape Raid but useful in general and you will get a lot of use of this Addon.

RaidCore – An Addon that alerts you in Raids when mechanics come up. Such as interrupting a Boss, a line showing the direction of where to go or a wave and if the Boss is targeting someone during a mechanic. Mandatory for Raiding.

OHelper (Ohmna Helper) – An addon used in conjunction with RaidCore on the Ohmna fight, the last boss of Genetic Archives. If you intend to do this fight, this addon is mandatory.

Perspective – This Addon points you in a direction for something you want, be it a Tales Key, Quest Objective, a harvesting node, and so much more. Highly recommended in general.

Chatsplitter or Killroy – These Addons adjust your chats but you can only use one or the other as they’re not compatible with each other. Both recombining long messages into one, colorize messages that is very handy for Role Players, customize Chat Channel colors, and have a Range which is another feature useful to Role Play. Both remove the Alienspeak so you can see what the opposite faction says. Highly recommended for Role Players.

Runemaster -This addon shows an overview with all the rune-slots in your gear and to what possible rune-sets they could contribute if you put the right rune in. It does not replace the default RuneCrafting window. Useful in general, Raiding and PVP.

Chatlinks – This Addon brings up a field you can copy links from that someone has posted in chat.

Optiplates – Changes Nameplates.

ForgeUI – Simplifies the UI and allowing you to move UI parts to suit you. Perfect for the minimalist.

KuronaBags - A unique bag addon that helps organize your inventory better, better salavage options, loot notifications and also allows for search.

Katia Builder Toolkit (KBT) – This Addon is great for Housing. Makes linking easier, “clone” decor so you don’t need to individually drop down a decor piece, finding decor on your plot, and saving sets. You can also share a KBT Code with friends. Highly recommended for the Housing enthusiast.

Character Shots – An Addon that allows you to see a model viewer, see animations and rotate a model around with a blank background. Useful if you want to do some Photoshop with you character.

Vince Builds – Allows you to save gear sets and LAS sets, so you can swap them with a single button. Incredibly useful for raiding if you want to save LAS presets for certain fights, or change to your offspec at a moment’s notice.

LUI Aura, Aura Mastery, or ProcHUD - These addons help with adding visuals for ability procs and cooldowns which are highly useful in Raids. Aura Mastery has a wiki on how to use it and settings you can copy & paste from their site, a link is on their curse page. ProcHUD should be be still useable however the developer is no longer updating the addon.

RareTracker - An Addon that alerts you when a rare mob (Elite Champion) is nearby and how far away it is.

Threat - A Threat Meter, shows who has the attention of a target. A must have for Raids.

Vortex Meter - Damage & Heal Meter. Useful for those raid leading or trying to see how your numbers are doing.

Grid - A click-to-target frames handy for Healers.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know there's several addons broken. Perspective is one of them, ForgeUI was having some issues. I will update when I find out if some of these addons will be fixed or retired.

It is true that addons are not absolutely mandatory, but they do help. From experience I can say raiding Wildstar is not like raiding in WoW (and I use to hardcore raid in that game for 5 years), its not as forgiving.

I would say its highly recommended to have RaidCore though it does come down of your personal choice as it is with all addons. Reason why I noted it mandatory on it is a lot of guilds recommend running it. Especially if you get turned around easy. I know I did with the Avatus fight's maze phase the first few times! ^^;; I'm horrible at mazes.

But yes, for raiding make sure the guild you're with works for you regardless of addons or not.

RaidCore Mandatory. No. Not Really. I was top on my server for PvP in WoW during Cataclysm and a great raider simultaneously, and I never touched Deadly Boss Mods (The World of Warcraft equivalent) or other similar addons such as Raidcore, In my opinion, there isn't much fun in a game playing itself. Whether you agree with that or not, you have to realize there are many people out there who don't need Raidcore/DBM to play the game, and you would feel more accomplished about yourself if you had the time and ability to memorize the pre-set routines of a boss. If the Wildstar guilds required you to have RaidCore, I wouldn't see those guilds as being worthwhile or friendly. Addons shouldn't ever be a mandatory edition to the game regardless of what functionality it brings.

Great guide for helping people with mods but you might want to add some kind fo aggro meter mod into the list.

Updated with the suggestions! I also forgot to add raretracker as thats something I use. ProcsHUD is showing they're no longer going to work on the addon. :(
