Welcome
Hello and welcome to this basic guide on how to play as the Apothecary as brought to you by me, Corwin of PG. Now I'm not the best Apothecary around nor am I the best player but I try my best and if you're reading this than you're attempting the same. The reason why I decided to make this guide is due to all the apothecaries that pick people up not with the Narthecium, nay but with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ E key. This is a no-no and I'll get into that. If your interested in joining our wonderful and kick ass community ask me about joining PG! JOIN US! WE HAVE ICE CREAM!

I'll be updating this guide as I go and whenever I find something new or relevant so now onwards!

"NOTICE ME, SENPAI!"

IF YOU, LIKE EVERY OTHER SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE OUT THERE, HAVE ISSUES WITH STABBING YOUR FRIENDLIES WITH THE NEEDLE OF HAPPINESS AND PUMP THEM FULL OF MURDER FUEL I WOULD SEVERELY RECOMMEND YOU STAND A PACE BACK, AIM AT THEIR FEET/SHINS/KNEES AND THEN HIT THE WONDEROUS F KEY!

THAT IS ALL.

Basics
Now the main purpose of the apothecary is to fulfill the role of combat medic. Which in turn means you're a support. Which means you are not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rambo so stop running ahead of the guys you're supposed to be supporting. Your ass stays at the back of bus like Rosa. When these guys go down I recommend that you wait a second or two, that way you don't die a stupid death via "ball-of-hot-death" or Ambassador-Pineapple. When you DO get to someone pick them up by using the F key. I CANNOT stress this enough. By picking someone up via the F key you not only rescue them, apply the HoT, but also allow your white ass to get back into cover that much faster. If they happen to go down again just let them crawl to you before picking them back up.

The best place for you, and I cannot stress this enough, is towards the back of your allies. The reason being is so that your team is not deprived of medical aid due to you following the example as set forth by Saint Leeroy. The Ground Assaults should be the only ones remotely doing that. Your job is to provide fire support while topping off anyone that's injured, so that means getting into the habit of looking at everyones health. Which has become much easier with the patch that introduced the ability to automatically see the healthbars of our brothers. I always keep this on to make my life easier, even when I'm not an apothecary, but to also know where our defense may be weaker due to someone being wounded.

Now another little piece of advice that I found wonderful for my general health, stay in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cover. You stick out quite abit, and that's an understatement. A smart enemy will priortize you the moment they see you due to the simple fact that you can keep an attack or defense going for much longer than it would have otherwise. It doesn't help that you're the only white marine, bar the Blood Angels who still have white helmets, that have a giant lamp attached to your back.

Now I'm going to tell you a little secret, it's something that alot of people overlook.

The minimap.

Now I know what you're thinking, "Corwin what does the mini-map have to do with this?"
Why simple, it shows you were your downed battle brothers are. They're the bold "X" on the map. The grayed out ones are where your battle brothers died. So keep an eye on it. You won't believe how many times I saved someone just due to the simple fact that I was watching the map and saw where they were downed. The death markers are also a great way to know where the enemy may be approaching from or where they may have set up shop. So in essence, watch that map.

=============================== NOTICE ME, SENPAI! ===========================

Now that I have your attention with that little abomination of a sentence, I can inform you of a handy little trick that'll save people that you pick up, and thereby put another body between you and becoming a horrible high-impact-bloodstain-of-failure-tears-and-utter-disappointment. WHEN YOU PICK SOMEONE UP WITH THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ F KEY SMACK THAT FOOL! THE REASON WHY IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS ANIMATION CANCELING! YOU ARE CANCELING THAT DEATH SENTENCE OF CASUALLY SCOOPING UP YOUR GUTS AND STANDING UP AND REPLACING IT WITH THE MINI-STAGGER ANIMATION! WHICH IS MUUUUUUUUUCH QUICKER AND ALLOWS THEM TO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROLL FOR THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HEALS SO YOU SMACK THAT HOE LIKE THEY OWE YOU MONEY! SMACK THAT FOOL LIKE IT'S A RED-HEADED STEP CHILD! SMACK THAT FOOL FOR GETTING DOWNED IN THE FIRST PLACE! BUT ABOVE ALL, SMACK THAT FOOL FOR WASTING THE BLOOD THAT BELONGS TO THE EMPEROR, praised be his most holy name, AND MAKE THAT FOOL SMACK THE FOOL THAT DOWNED HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Your wargear.
Now onto you're wargear. The Man Emperor of mankind has heard our prayers and has delievered unto us the full power of the holy bolter. That's right, the Apothecary bolter does full damage once again. Our durability now on par with that of enemy tacticals and such so do remember to use your stimms to be even more durable.

Now onto what makes up your kit.

The Bolter/Sternguard/Phobos/Quicksilver.

Ah the holy bolter, the symbol of mankinds divinity.

The Apothecary's bolter once again does full damage. Which pretty much turns it into a normal bolter. There's not much to say here besides use it like a normal bolter and your good. Do keep in mind that since it's once more a full bolter its point cost reflects this. Now something to keep in mind is that all the different variation of bolters all do not only the same damn thing, but the same damn stats. Seriously, they just look different.

Now that we are able to modify our standard bolter quite abit we can have some fun. I personally prefer the Texturized grip with a drum mag and heavy barrel. But feel free to mess around and try different combinations for your bolter. Remember, you're the one that has the use it, not I, so make it something that's not only effective, but something you enjoy using.

The Chainsword.

Ah the chainsword, for those apothecaries that care not for ranged combat. The chainsword for the apothecary does full damage, so no need to fear for the Nerf Sword like we did for the bolter. If you can use the chainsword, you can rock the Chainsword Apothecary. Just keep in mind that you're useless to your team when you die. When rocking the chainsword overall I'd say you should run just behind the ground assaults. If you're not with a ground assault fire team or what have you, stick with your brothers that are vulnerable to melee. You watch their back and they'll watch yours. I can't stress it enough that it's a great idea to stimm yourself before engaging. Be it Melee or Ranged.

Narthecium.

Ah the tool that allows us to do our jobs. Now this handy-dandy thing allows us to not only instantly heal someone, applies a strong HoT, but also applies one hell of a DoT. This thing also replaces the combat knife that the tacticals have. In melee this thing is surprisingly strong. Now it may not do alot of damage per hit, but it's quick, applies said DoT, and finally has a very fast strong attack, which means you can beat those D-bash spammers. Now another thing that you should take into account is due to its speed, you can actually get a quick hit in while their staggered after a D-Bash, but only one, remember that. Now onto another key thing, it only has 25 vials which means we can only heal 25 times. Once that runs out, which it shouldn't, you become a tacitcal marine without any of the benefits of being a tactical marine. What I'm basically getting at here is this.

WATCH YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ VIALS

Simple as that.

===== Serums =====

Now we have some options when it comes to stims and by the Emprah are they excellent choices.

-Survival Stim

The Survival Stim makes you an absolute pain to drop. I don't know exactly how strong the stimm is, but, I do know that it makes a significant impact on survival. How fitting that it does the job it says it does, hmm?

-Adrenaline Stimm

If you want to RIP AND TEAR or SCOURGE AND PURGE then this is the stimm for you. This stimm boosts your melee damage by a whoping 20%. What this translates into is that you become a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wreckingball of the Emprah's fury. To give you an idea of wonderful this stimm is it makes it so that the PowerFist one shots.

-Healing Stimm

This is the classic Stimm, one that puts you to 100% and then applies and strong HoT. You honestly can't go wrong with this one.

-Abiding Restoraion vial

This is your standard healing stimm but it lasts for 40 seconds. Great for having to stimm a lot of people and the great news is you'll get the points if the HoT heals for a certain amount, 22% IIRC, but overall the survival is better. Now if you combined it with the survival and then you're rockin.

These are currently our only choices but damn are they excellent choices. Now you wanna something absolutely hilarious?

You can apply all 3 stimms to the same marine. Enjoy.

Now I could go into the grenades, both krak and frag, but I won't. They're not Apothecary specific and not that hard to work out, yeah it would be nice to know the kill and casualty radius on them and how the damage works but hey, not apothecary specific. If I get some requests for it I'll put them in.

Apothecarion Beacon

This handy little thing is great due to the fact it'll lay down an area that'll not only heal friendlies in it, but also pick them up, which means you can pick yourself up if need be. They last for 20 seconds, the same as a standard stimm, and can be destroyed if the beacon is destroyed so throw them with care. The only difference between the standard and the Abiding is the fact that the Abiding last for 40 seconds instead of 20.

So with the new beacons and our stimms we have quite the ability to heal our friendlies, but remember, watch your supplies! Nothing is more akward then the inability to heal people because you suffered a 10-second-dumbass-attack and forgot to resupply at that handy little crate.

The wonderful news is that we finally get points for healing via beacons and what not. They both have a 40 second recharge but you can work around that by resupplying at a crate. But if you throw another beacon/nade it will destroy the old one.

You're a funny guy, Corwin. Funny guy. We all know apothecaries are just another version of tactical marines. Stop lying.

Basics, para 1 - Violates Steam's ToS, and needs to be fixed.

Minimap - An apothecary should stay inside the building their squad is defending. Healing those in the street only gets you killed. Enemy positions don't mean anything to you, until they enter your building or start sniping through the windows.

Animation canceling has been patched out.

Named weapons are different. They can't be modded and function differently. Take the Quicksilver, for an example. It's a "burst mode only" weapon, which is perfect for a Tac marine in a firefight.

Without access to jump packs, shields, or toughness wargear, the chainsword is useless to us.

Unlocking all the stims only gives us a choice to which one we use. We don't plug a marine with all of them by hitting the "F" key.

Throwing a healing beacon on a wall, will heal your bothers above/below/around you.

Please update your guide. Thank you.
