Why Be Smart?
You may be wondering why you should bother with this one stat in this silly game about breeding legendary horses to find magical gemstones. Why expend the extra effort when you're just playing to have fun frolicking through meadows looking for rainbows and clovers before you go on to win a shiny trophy? Well, intelligence can actually make things go much more smoothly for you.

"Wow," you exclaim, perhaps enthusiastically or maybe sarcastically. "I never would have known smartness could help me in a video game just like it helps me in real life." Understanding your excitement or exasperation, I nod in agreement.

In short, a high Intelligence stat will help with your horse's training sessions. A horse with 100 out of 100 points in Intelligence will see better stat growth from a training session compared to a horse with the base 70 out of 100 points. Maxing out this stat will help you save time and energy. The best part is that it's easy to get.
How To Be Smart!
And now, for the part you've all been waiting for, unless you skipped straight to this section: the part of the guide where I explain how to make your silly horses smart.

Step 1: Before you buy or breed a new foal, decide on its name so you can enter it quickly.

Step 2: While your horse is still a foal groom it until its orange Spirit bar is full.
(You can groom your foal by using the brushes hanging on the left side of its stall.)

Step 3: When its Spirit bar is full, wait for your foal's countdown timer to expire, at which point it will mature into an adult horse.

Congratulations! Your horse's Intelligence stat should now have 100 out of 100 points.
Warnings
Heed these warnings, O Smart One, and you will get through your horse's training at a much more expeditious pace.

Think up your new horse's name before you buy or breed a new foal. The faster you enter in its name the more time you'll have to groom your foal before its countdown timer expires. It's basically the only thing that can get in the way of maxing your horse's Intelligence stat other than simply refusing to groom your foal.

Unfortunately, as far as I know there is no legitimate way to retroactively raise an adult horse's intelligence. If you are aware of a way to do so, feel free to leave a comment or contact me so I can add said method to this guide and credit you for your helpful information.

Good luck!
