Hello there! My name is Subpolar (though Sub will do) and I will be writing your guide today.I have been playing this game for an enormous amount of time the past few days and I thought I might as well share the wealth of knowledge I have accumulated over my playtime. This guide is a work in progress and will improve as the game furthers in development. Your feedback is much appreciated and If you have anything to add to the guide please let me know.

Surviving the first night is very much a struggle in this game, especially if you have absolutely no idea what the hell you are doing. Let me lay down some of the basics:

• You start off with 4 very important items next to your Ship:
  
  A Plasma Rifle
  : Your trusty weapon - Decent range, Semi-automatic
  
  Miniaturizor
  : Your handy tool - Right click to collect things
  
  Auto-builder
  : Your automated crafting bench
  
  Scrap Metal
  : Essentially early-game Iron
  
• Anything you kill will from then on come to attack you in the night. Its useful to keep this in the back of your head while playing so that you don't increase the difficulty of the game before you are prepared to handle it. If you kill nothing the first night then blue fireflies and hounds will still come to attack you.
  
• Rain pools and will leak through dirt. Just a good thing to note so you don't drown.
  
• Trees and plants regrow, but under certain conditions. Conditions such as elevation, pressure, and so forth.
  
• Nothing is friendly; avoid or kill.
  
• Enemies will break through blocks if there is no apparent entrance to get to you. If you have a base like this:

  then enemies will either
  1. attempt to break blocks beneath you to either break inside the base or reach the right entrace
  2. Break the left wall
  3. Break a block in the ceiling
  4. Dig underground until they reach an entrance
  5. Simply enter from the entrance if your base is small enough
  6. Any combination above
  
  Having your base against a rock wall will NOT prevent enemies from entering from that side.
  
  Create entrances and kill zones to make the enemies go where you want instead of letting them haphazardly destroy every damn block on the planet.
  
• To the East is the Mountain
  The Mountain contains:
  - White Flowers, Red Fireflies, Black Fireflies
  
• To the West is the Chasm
  The Chasm contains:
  - Nothing... its a hole.
  - To the west of the Chasm however there are Red Ferns

Hopefully you've read the previous section for the basics, and decided you want to give your first night a try... or maybe you are here because you utterly failed on your first night ~ No worries!
Here is a very easy way to survive your first night:

• Step 1
  : Gather all the Scrap Metal you can find
  - 2 Scrap Metal equals 1 Iron
  - Try to accumulate 50 by walking around and completing Step 2 and 3, but anywhere from 34 onward is good.
  
• Step 2
  : Gather all the Flowers of Light you can find (They glow).
  - You ideally want around 7 of these.
  - They are usually found in bodies of water.
  
• Step 3
  : Kill Blue Fireflies to collect Blue Energy Gems.
  - Aim to collect at least 5.
  
• Step 4
  : Cut down tall Trees and Blue Flowers.
  - Collect as many as you feel like, but make sure to get the Items from steps 1-3.
  - Aim to have at least 3 Blue Flowers
  
• Step 5
  : Find a place to setup base.
  - The spawn's hill is not a bad place.
  - Once there place your Auto Builder and use it.
  - Craft a Shotgun with 5 Iron and 5 Flowers of Light
  - Craft 2 Rotating Turrets with 10 Iron and 2 Blue Energy Gems
  - Craft the Auto Builder MKII with 2 Iron and 3 Blue Energy Gems
  - After crafting Auto Builder MKII, Place it and craft the Minaturizor MKII with 2 Blue Energy Gems. You can now mine Iron! Woo!
  Total Resource Cost: 17 Iron (34 Scrap Metal), 5 Flowers of Light, 7 Blue Energy Gems
  
• Step 6
  : Raise the Defenses
  - I choose not to on the first night, but you can easily craft Wooden Walls to create a temporary base.
  - Place the 2 turrets
  - Take aim with that Shotgun of death and await nightfall.
  
• Congratulations! You survived Night 1!

**Monsters will not drop their respective items during night. Instead they will drop Radioactive Blood or High Radioactive Blood.

• Aluminum
  - Found in the Stone Layer
  
• Bat Sonar
  - Drops off Bats which seem to be found to the immediate right of the Chasm and in the Dirt Layer
  
• Black Crystal
  - Found in the Crystal Layer under the Subterranean Lake. Rare
  
• Black Dweller Shell
  - Drops from Black Dwellers which are found underground below the Dirt Layer
  
• Black Grass
  - Amongst Black Dirt found deep underground
  
• Black Hound Horn
  - Black Hounds
  
• Black Mushroom
  - Amongst Black Dirt found deep underground
  
• Black Tiger Fish Regen Organ
  - Drops off Black Tiger Fish which are found in bodies of water below the Dirt Layer
  
• Blue Energy Gem
  - Drops from Blue Firefly which are found at normal elevations (IE Spawn)
  
• Blue Flowers
  - Surface. Typically on grass.
  
• Cactus Log
  - Cactus Trees on Cactus Islands - These are above the cloud level. Using rain to find them is useless because of the previous sentence. A Jetpack is needed to reach them.
  
• Coal
  - Found in the Stone Layer
  - Created with 10 Wood via the Auto Builder MKIV
  
• Copper
  - Found in the Stone Layer
  
• Coral
  - In high-pressurized water. Likely to be deep underground.
  - Subterranean Lake at the bottom of the world
  
• Crystal
  - Found in the Crystal Layer under the Subterranean Lake
  
• Dark Energy Gem
  - Drops from Black Firefly which are found at the Highest elevations (High sky islands and top of the mountain)
  
• Dweller Shell
  - Drops from Dwellers which are found underground in the Dirt Layer
  
• Flower of Light
  - In bodies of water
  
• Gas Rock
  - Found in sky islands
  
• Giant Cactus Seed
  - Cactus Trees on Cactus Islands - These are above the cloud level. Using rain to find them is useless because of the previous sentence. A Jetpack is needed to reach them.
  
• Gold
  - Found in the Stone Layer
  
• Granite
  - Subterranean Lake at the bottom of the world
  
• Hound Horn
  - Normal hounds
  
• Iron
  - Created with 2 Scrap Metal
  - The ore is scattered everywhere
  - Found above the Subterranean Lake
  
• Light Crystal
  - Found in the Crystal Layer under the Subterranean Lake
  
• Lightweight Rock
  - Found in the sky islands
  
• Precise Bat Sonar
  - Drops off Black Bats which are found below the Dirt Layer
  
• Red Energy Gem
  - Drops from Red Firefly which are found at higher elevations (Most notably the middle of the Mountain and low sky islands)
  
• Red Ferns
  - West side of the Chasm
  
• Sea Tree Seed
  - Found in the Subterranean Lake from Water Trees
  
• Scrap Metal
  - Found scattered on the surface when you spawn
  - Drops off turrets when they are destroyed by monsters
  
• Shark Fish Skin
  - Drops off Shark Fish which are found in the Subterranean Lake at the bottom of the world
  
• Small Cactus
  - Cactus Islands - These are above the cloud level. Using rain to find them is useless because of the previous sentence. A Jetpack is needed to reach them.
  
• Tiger Fish Regen Organ
  - Drops off Tiger Fish which are found in bodies of water in or above the Dirt Layer
  
• Tree Seed
  - Drops off common trees
  
• Tree Pine Seed
  - Drops off common trees
  
• Uranium
  - Found in granite in the Subterranean Lake
  
• Water Flower
  - Found in bodies of water
  
• Water Tree Logs
  - Found in the Subterranean Lake from Water Trees
  
• White Flowers
  - On top of the Mountain to the East
  - On Sky Islands - Find them in the rain

• Power Jump
  - Works with the Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, and Overcharged Plasma Gun
  - Aim the down or diagonal-down and jump as you fire to get a huge jump boost.
  - Extremely helpful to reach those high places
  - Use it to build a sky base and prevent pesky land-dwellers from reaching you.
  - Super useful with the Jetpack to reach the Cactus Islands - Just aim down and fire away to get more height.

• Avoid Killing Enemies You Are Not Ready For
  - Just remember the 5 D's of Dodgeball ..err..Dig or Die. Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, Dodge
  
• Build Soundly
  - Enemies knock down walls. That one block could crash your entire base. Make sure the choke points dont have any blocks which can leave your base in crumbles.
  
• Remember the Hellevator in Terraria? Its useful here, but you need platforms.
  
• I made the grave mistake of killing an Exploding Firefly. I advise against it.
  
• Before taking on Black Fireflies, I recommend you gather 60 Light Crystals. After this, kill the Black Fireflies and collect a bunch of their gems. This will allow you to have Laser Turrets before nightfall.
  
• Boss Tactic - Queen Firefly
  - Once you get to the Sky Island with the Boss quickly place Composite Walls on the floor.
  - Place 2 or 3 Laser Turrets facing the edge of the island and 3 Heavy Turrets
  - Quickly build a wall facing the Queen with a Composite Metal Support in the middle
  IE:

For those of you who are struggling to "bridge" the gap. I have uploaded a screenshot of my fairly simple design. The wooden platforms are to allow bats and other monsters through.
I am pretty sure this is made with Concrete and Iron Supports. When you complete the right half, jump over to the other side and complete the left half.
