How to simply install DLCs
By Aqvilinus
As you might already know, the Steam version of Mass Effect doesn't include two DLC packs, as opposed to the Origin version that includes ones by default. This guide describes the simplest way to legally obtain both DLC for the Steam copy of the game.

Installation
The links to the installers for both expansions:
Installation key required for Pinnacle Station: 5GUCXRFPQNBMTJBD3L5J
Alternative installation key for PS (if the one above doesn't work for you): 52R9EJ565SEJ3ZPX5QCD

These are all official links provided by EA (as is the installation key): Source Page

NOTE: In order to install the DLC on the Steam copy you'll need to have run Mass Effect once from within Steam after installing it. Otherwise if you just install the game and straight away attempt to install the DLC without running the game first the DLC installers will be unable to locate the game installation. This is because Steam doesn't actually complete the installation until the first run of the game when it actually adds the registry keys in Windows, which the DLC installers use to locate the game installation.

NOTE: After the recent "updates" from EA, many of you started to face the "Installation failed" error during installation. If you get this kind of error, check this guide:
https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2409480019
NOTE: If you did what it's said in the note above, but you're encountering the error "Mass Effect CD Key not found" during installation, check this post by Kenny32673.

Enjoy!

Thank you for this guide. While I already had the executable for both DLC installations before I found this guide, it lead me to the guide with the installation fail fix.

Got the installer to install using the regedit/cdkey fixes. The DLC is listed as being there in the Configuration Utility. But in Downloadable Content in game there's nothing. We were supposed to install it into the folder in steamaps/common/Mass Effect ? Because I didnt see any instructions to do it any other way.

I had problems but fixed with reg edit instructions found above I do wish that education was more abundant so I understood what I did and why it worked though or I'm gonna be ball and chained to guides forever

same here, I had to use the 'install failed' method, but it seems to have worked first time.

addendum: after installation of DLC you must add the autoload.ini files to get the game to recognize the DLC as installed. How to is described on pcgamingwiki.com .

Steam ran out of CD keys obviously. When you request your CD key after installation you're kept in an endless wait.
Solution: watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdXxdjLc_to
or you can fight it out with the good for nothing Steam support.:steammocking:
Besides this major issue the guide is still working.
