About
Codename CURE is a game about a squad of armed, military-style soldiers taking a cure to the zombie hordes the only way they know how - violent neutralization. As time of this guide, the only method in the game to do so is via weaponry - guns, melee, explosives, and the crux of the mission - a powerful bomb that must be planted and timed.

There are two gamemodes currently.

Bomb Escape - in which your goal is to head into infested territory, plant a bomb meant to eradicate the zombie threat in the area, and escape before the timer on said bomb blows you to smithereens.

Survival - fight against waves of zombies, getting new weapons and replenished gear between each wave. See how long you can hold out.
Basics of Play
The playstyle and controls of this game are very familiar to anyone who plays other shooters or Source games, like Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, and so on. I won't go over the very basic stuff since any number of guides can do that (as can simple practice), but here's a brief overview of the functions the player can use.

Guns are self-explanatory. Pressing 1 and 2 draw the player's primary and secondary guns, respectively. Mouse1 (Left click) fires the weapon. Mouse2 (Right click) toggles ironsights/scopes for more accurate aim (and will slow your walking pace). Mouse3 (Middle click) uses your special item (which is usually either a thrown grenade or a deployable object). Pressing R will reload your weapon.

Pressing Q toggles your flashlight. Shouldn't need to explain why this is useful, right?

Pressing F triggers a melee strike. It's slow to repeat and leaves you vulnerable to zombie attacks, but it can one-hit-kill almost all the weaker zombies and can be a good last resort when your guns are dry.

Press E to use objects like buttons and doors. Self-explanatory for anyone familiar with Source games.

Press M to bring up the class menu to change your class for next round.
Classes
There are five classes to choose from, each with their own pros and cons. A diverse squad of teammates who know how to use their class works best.

Pointman

The Pointman makes a great forward lead and scout. His shotgun fires quickly and reloads fairly fast as well, making it an excellent weapon against small groups of zombies - especially when leading the pack around tight corners and enclosed spaces. Dual pistols give a secondary source of power with a high capacity of bullets per reload. Pointman also carries grenades to help clear out larger groups.

Pointman is best used to thin out hordes and pick off small groups of zombies so the rest of the team can focus on the bigger groups.

Press Mouse3 (middle click) to throw your HE grenade if you have one.

Support

The Support's most useful tool is the supply case - when deployed, players standing next to it will gain armor, health, and ammunition at a slow rate. This makes the Support a valuable member when holding out against oncoming hordes and healing up before planting the bomb. The supply case can be picked back up again and deployed as many times as needed, and slowly replenishes its supply when not in use. As for weaponry, the Support is fairly weak - An SMG provides good damage but has a strong recoil, and a very slow reload time. The pistol is helpful in emergencies and in the hands of an accurate shooter but provides poor DPS. Ultimately they're both enough to help the Support survive small groups, but against larger hordes he'll need teammates to rely on - and most will be happy to do so, in return for access to the supply case, of course.

Support is best used to keep the team healthy and loaded with ammo.

Press Mouse3 (middle click) to deploy your supply case. Press it again while aiming at your deployed supply case to pick it up.

Assault

The Assault's weaponry provides pure firepower against the zombies. His rifle can take down large groups of zombies with an accurate user, and provide helpful DPS to tougher zombies. His pistol and grenades also help out, especially in conserving the primary weapon's ammo for when he really needs it.

Assault is best used to protect his team and help mow down oncoming hordes - especially from a good range, while the shotgunners take out the ones up close.

Press Mouse3 (middle click) to throw your HE grenade if you have one.

Technician

The Technician's best tool is his sentry turret - very familiar in use for fans of Half-Life 2. The turret can be deployed anywhere on the ground, and will attack any zombies wandering into its vision cone. The turret has infinite ammo, but not infinite health - it can replenish health slowly when picked up and carried by the Technician, but if it is destroyed, it's gone for the remainder of the Technician's life. Protecting your turret and knowing when to either grab it or abandon it as a decoy can save or ruin the match. When it comes to firepower, the Technician's shotgun and pistol provide great protection similar to the Pointman, and when combined with a well-placed turret, the zombies will be hard-pressed to get close.

Technician is best used to defend the team, especially in standoffs against large hordes of infected by gunning them down via shotgun and turret.

Press Mouse3 (middle click) to deploy your sentry. Press it again while aiming at your deployed sentry to pick it up.

Sniper

The Sniper is a great choice for those who value accuracy above all else. His sniper rifle provides a short-range scope to easily pick off zombies before they can close the distance. Even up close, the rifle provides a powerful and quick semiautomatic rate of fire, although the user will need to keep its slow reload in mind. The pistol provides a good backup, although it too needs some time to reload. As a special armament, Sniper also has incendiary grenades - these will leave a fire Area-Of-Effect on the ground for a short duration where it lands, burning any zombie foolish enough to wander into it. This makes the grenades great for covering choke points and cutting off pursuit behind the team.

Sniper is best used to provide powerful, accurate damage against distant zombies and armored zombies heading towards the team.

Press Mouse3 (middle click) to throw your incendiary grenade if you have one.
Bomb Escape
The squad needs to plant a bomb and escape before it detonates. Here's some general tips for performing well in this gamemode.

Know your class - this should be obvious, but when you pick your class, make sure you know its weaknesses and strengths, and use them accordingly. Don't, for example, pick Technician and never deploy your sentry.

COMMUNICATE! - you have text chat and voice chat capabilities. Use them! A squad that talks will always be more effective than a silent one (unless the talk is all trolling or arguing, naturally, so don't do that).

Take your time at the start - before the bomb is placed, there's no time limit. Go slow and keep together. Rushing ahead will cause you problems.

Stay together - a diverse and tightly-knit team will perform far better than teammates running off alone and getting picked off by hordes.

Ready up before arming - when you get to the bombsite, do try to gear up and heal at a Support's supply case before planting. When the timer's going, you need speed, and low health will cripple your speed. Plus, ammo ensures you can kill zombies before they get to you and lower your speed by dropping your health. (Also, keep in mind that arming the bomb is done by the Use key, which for most will be E - the on-hud instruction might be hard to read.)

Move fast - once the bomb's deployed, you're on the clock, so holdout tactics won't save you anymore. Move quickly but as a team, and do your best to efficiently mow down any enemies that stand in your way. You don't win if you die, but you don't win if you move sluggishly and force the evacuation to leave without you.

Know your limits - trying to power through or run past zombies you can't defeat will assuredly kill you. If you're low on health or ammo and a horde is coming your way, or an armored zombie, fall back and get your teammates' help.
Survival
Not too familiar with this gamemode yet, but here's what I do know.

There are no classes to choose from in this gamemode. You start with predetermined equipment and start fighting waves of zombies. The counter at the bottom displays what wave it is, how many zeds are in the wave, and how many have been eliminated.

When a wave is cleared, you are given the location of a supply box and a timer before the next wave. Using the supply box gives you gear - often a new gun, as well as replenishing ammo/health/etc. Dead players are also respawned at the intermission between waves.

Try to hold out as long as possible and prove how much of a bad zombie-killing mofo you are.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Early Access, huh?

A: Yes. The developers have expressed interest in expanding the game with more content (gamemodes and maps, mainly).

Q: So is it another one of those Pay to Win things?

A: Nothing in the game costs money at all, and there's not even a PvP mode yet. So far it's just a simple squad-based zombie shooter. Where it expands from there is not my decision, of course, but I believe the devs have every intention of keeping the game free no matter what they expand it to.

Q: Not many maps here, where can I get more?

A: Until more maps are made by the devs, you can try getting custom maps made by the community. So far there aren't many, but that may change as time passes. Look in the Discussions board, maybe you'll find some posted there.

(As of this writing, the map selection is much more varied than when I first made the guide, so that helps.)

Q: Trolls are pretty annoying with friendly fire and blocking obstacles, is there anything I can do about this?

A: Not sure about blocking obstacles, but there should be a setting for server operators now to enable or disable friendly fire. If it's enabled and someone's trolling, try getting ahold of an admin or votekicking the offender. If those fail, find another server.
Disclaimer
I wrote this pretty quick, so it could contain errors or be dated due to game updates. I'll try to keep it correct and current, but if you spot errors and want to chastise me, go right ahead. I just want to provide a guide that can be helpful to newer players since I feel this game has potential, and I'd rather avoid people steering clear after a few bad matches because they didn't know what they were doing.

This guide is super old and I haven't played the game in awhile - that sounds like a new mechanic I haven't seen. You may want to look for a more up to date guide or try asking that question in the Discussions section of the Community Hub.
