The Alphabet
The alphabet used by the Strays has a simple 1-1 relationship with the English alphabet in that each symbol corresponds to one English letter. So with enough time and messages, it's easy to translate. However, this is made a lot easier thanks to the book that Maddie is holding in her hands the first time you see her studying the writing, which contains a full table of which symbols map to which English letters.




One thing that may be confusing in the translation is the difference between the letters D and P. In the book, there's a clear space between the bottom curve and the top curve. However, looking at all the other D's in the game, it's clear that for practical purposes that space is not there. It's easy enough to spot when you accidently switch them, since the words won't make any sense.

the best I could come up with for those numbers is that once added together (resulting in a sum of 469) the number given as an angle number means to 'let go' and 'release the old' as well as signifying a phase of your life is about to end, possibly relating to the narrators relationship to the uncle? please let me know your thoughts on this

If early in the game you attempt to figure out the translation on your own, it gets confusing not only because of the similarities with some of the letters but also because of errors in the writing. The Translation for The Three Little Pigs is actually written in game as "Hte Three Little Pigs". Which is certainly easy enough to figure out but still a bit annoying.

Not knowing about the book, I translated by end. What hampered me the most in this is that the 'C' in "WELCOME HOME" is written differently from every other 'C' in the game.

Really, the whole alphabet could just be found? And I thought I was clever working out some from the three little pigs, and reluctantly accepting the translations Mady told me. Shame that all the one word messages have literally zero purpose (denial, anger, isolation...why?) Also, who's idea was it to have two letters to be almost identical(C/R, D/P)?
