Foreword
The guide takes about 10 minutes, at the most, to read from start to finish.

In this guide, I will tell you about upgrades, any simple strategies in the game, along with other helpful tips so as to help you avoid having to waste time with exploring.

I will be adding a few videos and screenshots in the future. As many as I see fit. Soon, this guide will have a less boring vibe to it with colourful pictures.
Enchanting
I am quite confident in saying that you were able to figure out how to add materials to your wand, spell and robe yourselves.

Hows about we talk about the "Enchantment" button. Clicking on the button will cause that piece of gear's damage to shrivel to zero but the effects that your gear has will be increased drastically.

Let me elaborate on what I mean when I say "effects". Mouse over a material and check to see if its "effects" in the description have been highlighted orange. Enchantments only work for effects that are highlighted orange.

After the tutorial, you will be put into the Hub World. The purple anvil portraits are spell-crafting benches and the other portraits allow you to change other things.
The Hub World
The Blue Top Hat
The Costumer NPC will be walking around here, insulting your attire every time he sees you. The Blue Top Hat lets you customise how your character's looks. Make your wizard look like your OC from DeviantArt or something, you sad vuck. I'm just joking. I think.

The Yellow Flask
The Alchemist will be walking around and constantly offering his assistance to you. The Yellow Bong, or Flask allows you to combine Stones and Essences to create materials which will, in turn, allow you to customise your spells and wand projectiles.

The Green Wand With Stars
The artist will be there to tell you all about his artistic visions and how Hitler did nothing wrong. This location in the Hub will allow you to customise how your projectiles look like. The selections you can make are based on the materials that are currently on your equipment/gear.

The Forest
The forest is just a place where you can complete challenges. The challenges are extremely difficult if done all at once. I would suggest completing those challenges in this order:
  1. Random Loadout
  2. Goblin Revolution
  3. Super Murderfest
  4. Plug & Play + Bag of Spilling together with an empty loadout
Difficulty Levels
This is a list of all the difficulties from the easiest to the hardest.
  1. Associate's
  2. Bachelor's
  3. Master's
  4. Doctorate

Character Progression
Gaining Material Slots
The difficulty of quests are based on certificate levels in education. You can get more material slots in your equipment by completing "Associates" level quests. In all honesty, though. I have never heard of an "Associates" certificate. I have heard of a Masters, Doctrate and Degree, however.

Certain areas give you slots for certain equipment.
  1. Wand upgrades come from quests in the Dessert Temple at the lower-right corner of the school.

  2. Robe upgrades come from quests in the Ice Cavern at the lower-right corner of the school.

  3. Spell One upgrades come from quests in the Jungle Ruins Temple in between the school towers, up-top.

  4. Spell Two can be unlocked and upgraded by completing quests in the Castle's Basement.

The orange exlcamation mark turns blue once you have completed all of the associates quests and have obtained the upgrade.

Artifacts
Artifacts give your wizard useful abilities. Do note that the usefulness varies from build-to-build.

Here's a list of all the artifacts and where to find them.[magicmaker.gamepedia.com]

An example of an artifact is my Periwinkle Fairy that collects loot for me. My good old farming companion.
Higher-Grade Materials
You can get better materials by playing on higher difficulties, or higher certificates. Do this at your own risk, however. Enemies will have higher health and damage on higher difficulties. I recommend completing all quests on the "Associates" difficulty before proceeding to tackle the "Masters" difficulty. It is near-impossible to defeat bosses on "Masters" if you only have 3 material slots on your gear. You will need more material slots, more than three, in order to easily take down the enemies and deal with the bosses' gimmicks. Bosses on "Masters" will throw a lot of projectiles at you.

The best place to farm materials is The Castle Basement as the chances of higher-grade materials dropping are higher there. It is like the Tinkerer's Lab Mission Pack DLC in Dungeon Defenders, except, it is not DLC and the game is different.
Gameplay Strategies
  1. The hitboxes in this game are really bloody weird. Your spells and projectiles will phase through an enemy if you aim for the head. Aim for the enemy's feet instead.

  2. Your Spells 1 and 2 will push and knock you back a little. You can use this to jump higher by aiming down while in mid-air and using your spells to give yourself a tiny boost. The boost will only work once in the air. The boost is also a very small one. If you want the recoil of the spell to fling you further, add the "Repulsor Energy" material to your spells. It is sort of like rocket jumping.

  3. The Optic Lense material will change your projectile type to a laser. The laser damages enemies as though they are on fire. The fire-rate animation is fast but the damage per second is slower than what is shown. The laser will cover a lot of ground but it has a range. Add the Optic Lense and Harpy Feather materials together if you want to make a spell that will give you more breathing room.

  4. The levels are randomly generated, so some terrain will tend to be impossible to traverse without having the robes or artifacts to give you more mobility. Use the Fairy Wings material to give yourself some extra jumps just in case RNGesus is not on your side someday.

  5. ALWAYS have the rock material on your equipment, excluding your robes. You cannot change your mouse sensitivty in the game, so you will need to find ways to make it easier for you to shoot. I sincerely hope that Yummy Stewdios will add adjustable mouse sensitivity into the game in the near future. It feels so uncomfortable to have such a slow cursor during gameplay. UPDATE: You can fix this problem by going to the UI Settings and changing the camera settings.

  6. Status effects are always important. My personal favourite material for my spells is the Ice material. It slows enemies and their attack rates. Easy kills. The Ice's freezing effects can also help in boss fights.
Final Words
Hopefully, this has helped you people. Enjoy the game and tell Yummy Stewdios to add the option to adjust the cursor sensitivity in future updates. For some reason, my mouse sensitivty is fine in the main menus but not during gameplay.

Rate ten billion stars. Good day to you. Tell me if I've made any grammatical mistakes. I was pretty tired when I wrote this.

SIncerely,

each artifact does come from it's specific area, you can only get (x,y,z) artifact from (x) place and get (a,b,c) from (y) place

An Associates is a 2-year college degree, like for people going to trade school or whatever. If it's the same as your major, you can usually use 2 or 3 semesters of it towards your Bachelors.

Necromancer time

I knew Fairy Queen was something I was not meant to do when I started failing it over and over, it became much easier when I realized you can actually kill fairies, just a limit of 20, at first I thought you couldn't kill a single one... And I was like, wtf, how do you win then? It then became a matter of fighting it for over 1 hour and changing my build as I tried eventually thinking that a damage over time build would be great because she teleports so much, that's how I won :)

Also nice guide was helpful

I know, right? That Fairy Queen had me swearing like the AVGN the first time.
KruhlSentru 7 Sep, 2017 @ 2:38pm
Well, that explains a lot. I wish the game was a bit clearer on progession. I had been trying to figure out how to complete the mission to kill the fairy queen without killing the fairies, but I had thought the other portals were all higher level areas. Which, basically, means I was going into a high level mission with almost no upgrades.

...I still hate the fairy queen, though. XD

Yeah, the idea behind the silly overview was to attract silly people like myself. :P

You should! You have a great structure going. Only thing I didn't like was the overview. It was a bit silly :myougiLaugh:

Thank you very much, Crypt Warden. :] I haven't written any other guides, sadly. However, I might write a few others in the far future.
