In order to do this, you need:
Text editor e.g Notepad, Notepad++
A file explorer
Windows (preferably W10/11 22H2 and above)

Open file explorer
Go to Home/Quick Access, then Documents
Then go to My Games\F1 25\hardwaresettings
open "hardware_settings_config.xml" with a text editor
Press CTRL+F (or go to Edit>Find) and type "rt_pathtrace"
Set rt_pathtrace and rt_ray_reconstruction enabled to "false"
Go to File\Save or press CTRL+S
(make read only if you want, but you will not be able to change settings ingame)
Start game and check graphics settings, as this game bug can also reset your graphics preferences

If you are not making it read-only, make a backup whenever you change settings.
If you set it to read-only, you have to keep changing it to write and back when you want tochange settings.
You may have to redo this after every play session if you do not, however.

If you still find game crashes after this, check your graphics drivers. If you plan on playing other games like F1 22, stay on version 566.36 on NVIDIA, as any later versions can break the game.
