General Information
Just two things to keep in mind first:

1. These spells are by no means combinations you have to use as they are. Let yourself be inspired instead or discover new ways of using a certain material.

2. If one of the spells here doesn't produce the expected results for you, do keep in mind the material ranks may differ.
Latest Changes
  • New 5 slot spell: Trailing Seekers
  • 6 slot variant for Assassination Butterflies
  • 6 slot variant for Trailing Seekers

  • 5 slot variant for Infernal Sunlight

I will note that it's highly unlikely I'll be coming up with more spells to add myself. I haven't played the game in ages, aside from testing a few spells that were suggested, and don't think that will change anytime soon. That said, I still read the comments and may or may not be inclined to update the guide here and there.
Spells with four materials
Grand Repulse
Optic Lens + Chaos Butterfly/Illusion Dust + Harpy Feather + Rock + Enchantment

This spell is best used on your wand for when your mana runs out. Solely used to keep enemies at bay. Both Chaos Butterfly and Illusion Dust cause your laser to affect an area in front of you to make sure you push away a number of enemies at once. Don't expect any damage though.
Also just found out it's amazing to counter a certain annoying entity in the ruins area.

Chaos Butterfly version:

You shall not pass!
Infernal Sunlight
Illusion Dust + Bouncy Ball + Spider Silk + Miniature Sun + Enchantment

Did someone say area damage? This is so far the best spell I've come up with to adress the issue. Especially in narrow areas it fills everything with countless mini suns burning all enemies to a crisp.

Might be getting a bit hot in here...

For 5 slots, I suggest another Spider Silk (Causes the trail to last longer, hence more damage over time) or Trick Bullet (Resolves the fact that the trail doesn't continue on enemy hit).
Rumbling Sword
Ninja Sword + Diamond + Tonna Bricks + Sticky Slime

The only problem one might have with the Ninja Sword is the greatly reduced range. Good thing there's a countermeasure. This combination creates a sword that not only packs a punch, it also travels along surfaces and hits more than one enemy. Stay in cover and let your swords do the work.

Travelling big numbers!

For the fifth and sixth slot, add Seashell and Fairy Wings. More swords. What could go wrong?
Credit for this improvement goes to White Slime.
Minion Swarm
Necrom-nomicon + Bouncy Ball + Spider Silk + Illusion Dust + Enchantment

Using the same principle as Infernal Sunlight, this spell causes your projectiles to leave a minion-summoning trail. Considering the sheer number of them only bosses will be able to withstand the assault. As an added bonus, the minions serve as a meat shield, capable of blocking enemy projectiles or drawing their attention. A good way to keep nasty bees at bay.
Keep in mind that for this spell a lower tier Spider Silk is actually beneficial since the minions spawn once the trail expires.

Changes to the Necrom-nomicon have resulted in this spell being a lot weaker, since the weak slime minions can only attack once after having been summoned now!

Too many minions? Impossible!
Magic Jetpack
Optic Lens + Repulsor Energy + Sundial + Siren's Seafoam + Enchantment

Not as serious a spell and more used for fun or to travel the College Grounds at high speed.

Super highspeed travel!
Madman's Jetpack
Optic Lens + Siren's Seafoam + Repulsor Energy + Repulsor Energy + Enchantment

So I tweaked my Magic Jetpack a little and this was the result. It allows one to rush through levels with insane speed, but just about no directional control. Surprisingly, it's actually quite powerful and deals a nice amount of damage to enemies.
For all this to work though, adding Bouncy Balls to your robe is a must.

Here I added a rock to my robe for more damage. Not that it was necessary.

Aim? Directional control? The hell is that supposed to be?
Death's Hand
Optic Lens + Seashell + Rock + Guillotine Blade + Enchantment

I decided to mess around with the Guillotine a little and this is the result. It executes groups of enemies fairly well and I've even managed to kill the forest boss within a few seconds.

Need a helping hand?
Bullet Hell
Illusion Dust + Seashell + Chaos Butterfly + Rock

Started as more of a joke spell to see how many projectiles I could have on screen at a time, but has proven itself to be rather effective since it just shoots EVERYwhere. Just make sure to stay a bit away from your enemies for the seashell to work. And to aim where you don't want to hit.

It's going to hit eventually.
Spells with five materials
Rampage Dolls
Illusion Dust + Bouncy Ball + Necrom-nomicon + Necrom-nomicon + Spider Silk + Enchantment

Since the last patch nerfed my Minion Swarm a lot due to slime minions becoming a lot weaker, I decided to fix that in New Game Plus. I'm pretty sure it's even more op now...
Mind you though, this spell requires high tier Necrom-nomicons. I've made this using one A and one B. Haven't tested yet if two B are sufficient.

Play with us, we're lovely dolls!
Raging Robots
Illusion Dust + Necrom-nomicon + Necrom-nomicon + Necrom-nomicon + Spider Silk + Enchantment

I literally just finished Rampage Dolls with the thought "This would be far too op if it could spawn robots". Well guess what, it CAN. Had to remove the Bouncy Ball and use a weak Illusion Dust, so as a result it spawns minions in a smaller area. But I fear for the future of boss monsters...

Again, material tiers are quite important, make sure to use high tier Necrom-nomicons and a low tier Illusion Dust, or you'll end up with dolls.

Sheesh, that hurts.
Stormfall
Illusion Dust + Lightning Rod + Quicksilver Gear + Tonna Bricks + Spider Silk

Seems like I still can't leave the spider silk alone. I found out that a trail created by spider silk will fall down when Tonna Bricks is added. I paired it with lightning rod to make sure each of the falling projectiles would have a greater chance of hitting something. The result is a moderately powerful spell with nice AoE.

Shockingly powerful.
Assassination Butterflies
Illusion Dust + Seashell + Rock + Chaos Butterfly + Extract of Monday

This is simply an improved version of my Bullet Hell with a lot more damage.
The combination of Extract of Monday and Chaos Butterfly seems to be a tad exploitable: The Chaos Butterfly effect of randomly changing the trajectory only begins once the Extract of Monday slowdown effect has worn off, but the damage seems to be added regardless. So by the time the projectiles are at full speed they already carry a lot of added damage from Chaos Butterfly. And then they start moving randomly.

It will hit eventually, and it will hurt when it hits.

Got another free spell slot? Add Spider Silk. When a trail projectile is supposed to expire, the Chaos Butterfly effect activates, filling your entire screen with projectiles in no time.

Goodness me, what have I done...
Trailing Seekers
Illusion Dust + Crystal Ball + Rock + Spider Silk + Extract of Monday

Woo, yet another use for Spider Silk! This spell fires several projectiles with trails... and then all of that homes in on all unfortunate enemies that decided to get too close. I think this combination eliminates the problem I've always had with crystal ball fairly well (the fact that even multiple projectiles tend to only home in on a single target).
Many thanks to DarzielDarkwing for pointing out the Spider Silk + Crystal ball combination!

So pretty...

When 6 spell slots are available, add Chaos Butterfly. It exploits the Chaos Butterfly + Extract of Monday combination that I mentioned in Assassination Butterflies while not hindering the homing ability.

Where's the spell? I only see numbers...

Spider Silk must have gotten nerfed again since this was last update. currently, all versions of spider silk have an 80% power loss on the trail
that being said, ive found an alternative to rampaging dolls that seems to work. (in NG+)
either *2x high tier necrom-nomicons, seashell, bouncy ball, and a low-tier illusion dust, +enchantment*
or
*High tier Necrom, Seashell, Bouncy Ball, Illusion dust (high tier works), and a Philosopher's stone, +enchantment*
the key is that spellpower increasing things also work for spell effects as well as straight damage. so a philo on your teleport wand spell can increase it more than adding another rift crystal at some point, while only at a cost of a few mana (enough that natural regen is still enough to combat it, even with a fairy wing)

im currently seeing if i can get robots with this strategy

On madman's jetpack, i found that adding A mini sun, and extra repulsor on the bonus slots was the most efficient, and with a grade A bouncy ball and Trick bullet robe, I lost track of where i was easily, one of the most fun combo's ive discovered

for madmans jetpack, use the original recipe, but for a fifth spot add a sundial <3

im pretty new to the game but i did figure out that if you use optic lens + harpy feather + quicksilver gear + anything/optional(i used rock), and trap an enemy on the wall you can deal stupid amounts of damage and is very useful early game.

Grade A doesn't work with it either, I think its because the spider silk trails have 80% reduced power from the original shot, which ruins the minions.

I'll test with A grade once I get those

@The Ender Archmage
They should unless something got changed that I wasn't aware of, which I doubt. Likely a matter of material grade.
