How to enable unofficial mods
Disclaimer: make sure to have atleast 70GB available before doing this.

  1. Install the game as normal.
  2. Open this URL in your browser:
    steam://open/console
  3. Paste this in the Steam Console:
    download_depot 990080 990081 5173511114843368548
  4. Wait for it to download (it won't show you any status but it will say then it's done).
  5. When it's done. Open the depot folder you just got (~Steam\steamapps\content\app_990080\depot_990081)
and copy all files to the game folder
    (~Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy)
and choose to overwrite all files.
How do i stop the game from automatically updating?
  1. Right-click on the game in Steam and choose Preferences > Updates > Choose to only update the game when launched.
  2. Don't launch the game from Steam, make a shortcut of the HogwartsLegacy.exe from ~\Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64 and click on it to start the game instead.
  3. Do not choose to validate game files.
Are there any downsides?
  1. You will not be able to use the in-game mod menu so all mods need to be downloaded from third-party modsites.
  2. No Ray Reconstruction (Ray Tracing will work though.
  3. Any patches made after July 2024 will be unpatched. (this also means all new bugs will be removed)
Which upsides does it have?
  1. You can install third-party mods from sites like nexusmods.
  2. You get achievements even when playing with mods, which you don't if you're using the latest version of the game.
  3. You take back the right to own your own game and not to be told what you can do with it.
