Strategy to Quickly Set up Base in a New Planet/Moon!
By Riverspoke
A kit of items that optimizes the maximum storage slots given for the first trip to a new planet/moon, along with a strategy to give you a quick foothold so you can quickly and comfortably start exploring, or bringing even more resources from your main base.

Intro
For our trip, we have two means of storage: our own inventory (45 slots with T6 backpack) and the storage inside the travel rocket (20 slots). I've calculated every item necessary for the stuff to be built once we reach the new planet/moon. The only 'extra' items I'll be listing that won't be used in recipes are: 2 oxygen, 2 water, and 2 food. These are only basic supplies for our comfort. Literally everything else will be used for building. So here is the complete list of materials you should bring with you before you travel to a new planet/moon.
Items

You can use this picture as a "starter pack" handy for when you visit a new planet.

Note that you should build a Rover from your Vehicle Station's terminal, and it's VERY IMPORTANT that the Rover has an Unlimited Oxygen Upgrade installed (which is also crafted from the Vehicle Station's terminal), as this will permit you to have permanent mobile oxygen on your new planet/moon. So what you need to do is craft a Rover, then the upgrade, install the upgrade in the Rover, then go behind it and press the red button. This will make you 'pick it up' in your inventory.

Now once we hop on the rocket and reach the new planet/moon, the following steps can be performed in less than 5 minutes.
Strategy
  • You will land in a capsule. Your inventory already has everything you need for now. Immediately go out and build a Nuclear Fusion Generator on the ground. Alongside it, build a T5 Drill and a T5 Heater.
  • Retrieve all your items from the landing capsule. Now deploy the Rover from your inventory (right-click on it and set it above the ground in front of you). Enter it and find a suitable place to build your base.
  • Build a Big Living Compartment and a Living Compartment Door to access it.
  • Go inside and build a Crafting Station T2 and a Locker Storage T2.
  • Now build a T2 Gas Extractor outside of your base and set it to extract Oxygen.
  • Build an Extraction Platform near your base.
  • Go up the platform and build an Interplanetary Travel Rocket.

Now you have basic energy, storage, a base in which you can craft basic supplies, an oxygen source, permanent oxygen on wheels, and the means to go back to your main base whenever you wish. And you have also started terraforming the planet! What you bring on your next trip depends on your own playstyle. Maybe T3 Ore Extractors? More power and storage for your base? Drones? Glhf and happy exploring!

Here is a video of the strategy, performed in under 3 minutes:

Personally I think interplanetary Exchange Shuttle is more important than a Travel Rocket. Not only does it require less materials to build (allowing more food and water to be brought), but you can make sure you have the materials at another planet to build the Travel rocket after just one trip of the Exchange Rocket.

My tip would be just check what you can craft before you go that has useful items in it. For example, make a T6 backpack, at least 5 fusion cells, 3 explosives and what's needed to make a recycler. If you recycle all those items you can take a lot more with you, as you free up the 6 super alloy slots, the iron slots, the 5 pulsar slots and 3 red explosive powder.

I have chocolate cookies. Same health as those packs, except increases speed as well. :D
(90 health + running speed for short time)

The best way to bring more resources with you is to bring items that contain a lot of resources in their craft. A reverse workbench can be easily built, even from the local resources of a new planet, so all resources can be obtained from the items you brought with you. It is the same with the rods you find in the shells.

@Harley on the new moon you will have access to a rocket launcher, which you can use to obtain resources from the previous planet

@Blightwidow what is a shuttle?

You can optimize further:
- Bring the supply to build a shuttle instead of both extraction and interplanetary
- Instead of bringing that much super alloy, bring just 2. You can build a recycler and turn bars into aluminium and super alloy this way
- Drills will have a larger impact on Ti considering they only need 3 components instead of 9

@deckard bladerunner this is for when you are terraforming your second+ planet / moon. Considering the last thing you unlock is the interplanetary rocket, everything is unlocked at this point. So no, it's not creative.
