You need nothing special
- Any ship
- Any Crew/Laser/Upgrade

First, go to the "Rock Homeworlds", in a planet with "possible ship detected", The "Rock Homeworlds" is a random red hostile sector, You can not get that area at every game

You need that :



Take the choice 1 OR 2, the result is the same

Choice 1



Choice 2



Go to the quest mark



The Quest planet is always a sun



Its easy, do...nothing...
You just have to wait he jump



After the jump, you have a new quest mark



In this mark







Congratulations ! You have unlocked The Rock Cruiser !

If the rebel have already 50-75% of the map somethime the quest marker spawn before the reble wave, so its writed something like "we don't have anymore time for, maybe next time"

I outlasted the rock ship and once they jumped away i look on the map, there was no quest marker, was this because the quest marker was in the rebel areas?
