Introduction
Final Fantasy IV (Pixel Remaster) is an overhauled version of the original, with remodeled sprites and audio, but the core gameplay that you've come to remember and love is still the same.

That being said, the achievements are not abundant, nor exhausting to complete. Do keep a keen eye out on your bestiary and treasure chests, as there are missable ones in this game that, once skipped, cannot be returned to. If you want more "walk-through" oriented instructions, you can follow the treasure chest portion of this guide, which will detail the chronological order in which you find all missable and collectible content in chronological order.

Happy hunting!

╔Complete Walkthrough
Here is the start of a complete walkthrough of the game. We'll be covering how to obtain every achievement as they come, find every treasure chest, every monster, every hidden item, secret magic spells and where to go to visit every location on the map.

For those looking for just certain bits of information, each area is listed below in chronological order of when you traverse the game for easy reference. If you follow along, you'll find everything you need. Spoilers galore!

Anyway, let's get started:
- Prologue & Overworld
You'll start the game obtaining the water crystal for the king. The cutscene will play out and you'll fight two different groups of monsters. Well, Cecil will; you'll just stand and watch him. After the cutscene plays out and you gain control at the castle, head over to this area to access the three treasure chests behind a false wall.

To track everything, you'll see a counter as shown below. It will show how many treasure chests we need to collect, our total, the total amount of hidden objects and any other missable content, such as monsters.

  • Location - Prologue (Castle Baron)
  • Treasure Chests: 3
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 3/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 0/54
  • New Monsters: Floating Eyes, Zu, Goblin, Helldiver & Sword Rat
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Head over to this false wall and access the treasure chests before going to bed.

We'll also add two monsters to our bestiary as part of those automated battles on the airship. Once we leave the castle, you'll add the Goblin, Sword Rat and will have repeat Helldivers in the area to fight.
- Town of Baron
Exit Castle Baron and immediately go either right or left to enter the town of Baron. We'll have some hidden items to locate and some treasure chests to find here.

  • Location - Prologue (Castle)
  • Treasure Chests: 6 (We can only obtain three at the moment; we'll get the rest later.)
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 6/342
  • Hidden Items: 8
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 8/54
  • New Monsters: 0
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

First, the treasure chests are all located inside the inn. Check the crossed swords shown below to open a false wall and collect them. These will be the only ones we can collect for the time being. Additionally, there will be eight hidden items for us to collect. Make sure to grab them all before leaving the town as shown in the photos below.

For the two in the water, you'll access those via the stairs in the north of town that will let you walk through the canal.

- Chocobo Forest, Baron Area
Just west of the castle is our first Chocobo Forest we'll locate. Pop in, rid a Chocobo if you'd like and then make your way northwest to Mist Cave. Fun fact; if you try to ride the white Chocobo, it'll refuse, but it will restore your MP.

There is one hidden item here, like other forests you'll find along your adventure. Make sure to grab it before leaving!

  • Location - Chocobo Forest, Baron Area
  • Treasure Chests: 0
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 6/342
  • Hidden Items: 1
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 9/54
  • New Monsters: 0
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

- Mist Cave & Mist
Inside Mist Cave, you'll find more of the same enemies as mentioned in the overworld previously, as well as a few new ones to add to the list. There are four easy-to-locate treasure chests in the area. Once you have looted the chests, head outside through the top-right ladder.

  • Location - Mist Cave & Mist
  • Treasure Chests: 4
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 10/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 9/54
  • New Monsters: Insectus, Flying Eyes, Mist Dragon
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Inside the cave you'll find a few new monsters listed above, as well as a repeat appearance of the basic goblin.

After defeating the Mist Dragon, head outside the cave and east to the town of Mist. After the conclusion of the event and the subsequent fight that follows, you'll be on the other side of the landslide. Go north to the next town in the barren desert.
- Kaipo, Oasis of the Desert
Travel through the desert to the northwest to find a small oasis village known as Kaipo, Oasis of the Desert.

  • Location - Kaipo, Oasis of the Desert
  • Treasure Chests: 0
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 10/342
  • Hidden Items: 1
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 10/54
  • New Monsters: Desert Sahagin, Hundlegs, Sand Worm, Baron Soldier, General
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 1 (General)

There are also a number of new creatures to add to our bestiary, so make sure we catalog all the desert dwellers while we're here. When you head into town, you'll automatically head towards the inn to let the injured girl rest.

Baron soldiers will interrupt your slumber and try to kill you and her. Now, this battle is quite interesting. If you kill all three soldiers, the general will flee (coward!), so only kill, at most, two of them so you can log the general entry as well. The general won't flee as long as at least a singular soldier stands. If you accidentally do, reload and do it again.

After the battle, you'll be free to roam. There is one hidden item located here, so be sure to collect it!
- Underground Waterway, South
Before venturing forward, I'd recommend leveling up Rydia a bit, since she'll join you fairly behind Cecil in levels. When you're ready, head north to the Underground Waterway that we have to traverse through.

  • Location - Underground Waterway, South & the Subterranean Lake
  • Treasure Chests: 22
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 32/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 10/54
  • New Monsters: Red Mousse, Alligator, Gigantoad, Zombie, Vile Shell, Water Bug, Tiny Mage, Killer Fish, Sahagin, Toadgre, Octomammoth
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Upon entering, two treasure chests will be north of the entrance at a head end, so grab those first, then cross the bridge and go south for the third. Go down into the water, then left to the larger waterfall and enter the secret room through the waterfall. Three more treasure chests will be inside.

Head north to find a man blocking your travels. Speak to the mysterious old man. He needs your help rescuing his daughter from some sort of evil bard and will join your group.

He comes with some helpful magic spells and, if you toggle to his items (same as Rydia) and use the rod, you can fire off magic arrows for some decent damage.

Next, go right before heading to the next level for the fourth and final treasure chest on this floor and four more on [B2] of the Undergorund Waterway.

When you arrive at [B3], there will be two treasure chests south of the entrance. When you enter the doorway on the left side of the area, you'll end up back at [B2] in a different area.

On [B2], there will be one treasure chest immediately north and a secret passage on the left. Grab the treasure chest, then take the secret passage. to pick up the one on the other side of the right wall.

Once both are looted, head through the doorway to the Underground Waterway, North Entrance.

The Underground Waterway, North Entrance holds four treasure chests in the area. Two on your left upon entering and two more south of the exit on the right-hand side of the level.

After exiting the Underground Waterway, you'll make your way over a small patch of grass to the Subterranean Lake and jump down from the waterfall to the lake below. Head south to find two treasure chests with some Hades armor inside, then make your way through the doorway to enter [B1] of the lake. Cross the bridge to collect two more treasure chests.
After collecting those two treasure chests, you'll make your way to the waters below and face off against Octomammoth. He's not terribly difficult. Keep your party healed and pepper him with Thunder and he should go down quickly.

Once he's disposed of, enter the waterfall. You will come out the other side of the lake and should have all 22 treasure chests: 18 for the Underground Waterway and 4 from the Subterranean Lake.
- Damcyan Castle
Your arrival to Damcyan Castle is marred by nothing but wanton destruction and death. Bummer. Head to the throne room to find Anne and Prince Edward, the latter who will join your party. Before we go, there's some looting to do. Seems inappropriate, but, oh well!

  • Location - Damcyan Castle
  • Treasure Chests: 10
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 42/342
  • Hidden Items: 3
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 13/54

When you enter, go south one tile and take the right-hand side of the castle wall all the way to the door. Enter, speak to the dying guard and click the wall button to open the gates and collect all three treasure chests. Head down the stairs inside to find six more treasure chests, as well as all three hidden items inside the various vases. Loot it all, then return to the entrance to the castle itself.

Head all the way up to the room right before you find/found Anne. There is one final treasure chest to access and the only one not already looted dry in the room. How odd.

- Antlion Cave
Now that we have a hovercraft, we can use it to traverse the shallows (marked by the small rocks in the water). I'd recommend returning to town and resupplying, then returning to Castle Damcyan and heading east to Antlion Cave.

  • Location - Antlion Cave
  • Treasure Chests: 13
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 55/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 13/54
  • New Monsters: Domovoi, Yellow Jelly, Leshy, Basilisk, Adamantoise, Antlion
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

You'll find Antlion Cave on the eastern part of the landscape, past the shallows. Depart your hovercraft and head on inside.

Antlion Cave holds 13 treasure chests in total that we'll be scoping up.

When you first enter, you'll see two in your immediate vicinity, but there are also going to be four more in the area, for a total of six on this floor as marked on the mini-map.

When you have them all, take the right-most staircase down to [B2] and go south. A treasure chest will be in your path, making it impossible miss. Take the door to your left to grab a new harp for Prince Edward, then exit and continue left, then north.

There will be two more treasure chests to collect. There are also two other passages (one north, one south). Go north first to find three more treasure chests. Once you have those, go back the way you came and take the south exit to the Antlion Nest.

After obtaining the Sand Ruby, it's time to return to Kaipo to heal Rosa from the desert fever that has plagued her. Hop into your hovercraft and make your way back there via the shallow rocks.
- Mt. Hobs, West Entrance
Now that Rosa has healed and joined our party, it is time to make our way to Fabul Castle, but in order to do that, we need to go through the mountains and the aforementioned thick ice blocking our way.

Mt. Hobs is just east of where we were at Antlion Cave. Before diving into this new area, it might be a good spot to work on obtaining one of Rydia's secret summons: Goblin. First we need to find some, which are abundant outside the mountain. Typically you can find two in a group, sometimes you can find packs of six if you're lucky.

All you need to do is defeat them in battle and hope they drop the summon. It seems in the remaster, it was made much, much easier to find them. It took me about 30 minutes before one dropped the summon; this included me running away from any battle not containing a goblin.

With that out of the way, to Mt. Hobs we go!

  • Location - Mt. Hobs, West Entrance
  • Treasure Chests: 5
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 60/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 13/54
  • New Monsters: Bomb, Spirit, Gray Bomb, Skeleton, Cockatrice, Gargoyle, Bloodbones, Mom Bomb
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

There are five treasure chests to collect and they're all right in the beginning. When you start, there will be a left and right passage. Go left, first. There will be a place to rest, as well as four of the treasure chests.

Go back the way you came and take the right path this time. There will be one more treasure chest right in front of you, so grab that and continue up the stairs for a cutscene.

You'll come across a monk of Fabul who is surrounded by monsters. Interject and help him defeat them, along with a Mom Bomb. The Mom Bomb has a much, much larger health pool and will transform mid-battle before exploding into smaller bombs, injuring every party member.

Stay well-healed and you shouldn't have much trouble defeating Mom Bomb and company. While we're here, we can locate another secret summon for Rydia from roaming Cockatrice that call this area home.

Once located, we can exit the mountain through the east exit/entrance.
- Fabul Castle
Make your way east/southeast to Fabul Castle. There will be a series of fights that will take place inside, so I'd recommend leveling up some and stocking up on supplies while you're here.

  • Location - Fabul Castle
  • Treasure Chests: 7
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 67/342
  • Hidden Items: 3
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 16/54
  • New Monsters: Captain (Missable)
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 1

Head inside the castle, load up on new gear for Cecil and then head to the [2F] of the castle. Instead of going to the [3F], wrap around the back of the stairs and exit that door to find yourself on the roof with two towers.

Inside the two towers are all the treasure chests and hidden items in Fabul Castle. The right tower contains one treasure chest and one hidden item; the left tower contains one hidden item and three treasure chests. Once done, return to [2F] and head into the throne room.

When you're ready, agree to defend Fabul Castle and you'll automatically be taken to the front gate. The battle consists of seven rounds of fighting (no breaks). The 7th and final round is not one you can win, so feel free to throw the fight.

There is a missable monster in these fights. The first fight contains a "Captain". Defeat the Captain first before the Baron Soldiers. If you defeat the soldiers first, the Captain will flee and you won't get the entry. The Captain monster shows up in three of the battles, so you have three tries at killing them.

After the fight, return to the throne room and pick up the last hidden item from the lone vase on the left and then trigger the floor button to pick up the remaining treasure chests before your departure. Return to the inn to rest and regroup for now.

In the morning you'll be given a ship to make your way back to Castle Baron. Head just east of Fabul Castle and climb aboard to make the long journey back (maybe).
- Mysidia
Your voyage will end abruptly by Leviathan, leaving Cecil alone and on some island. Head over to the town of Mysidia since that's all you can do for now. There are no treasure chests or hidden items within Mysidia, but it is a good time to stock up on more supplies.

  • Location - Mysidia

Beward talking to any of the NPCs, unless you feel like being turned into various animals. Stick to the shops, then head north into the main building in the center of town.
- Mt. Ordeals
Mt. Ordeals is found much to the east of Mysidia. Make sure you gear up your two new companions, as they are fairly low level and susceptible to dying rather quickly on your journey when they first join you.

  • Location - Mt. Ordeals
  • Treasure Chests: 4
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 71/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 16/54
  • New Monsters: Scarmiglione, Soul, Ghoul, Revenant, Lilith, Skullnant
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

With the fire extinguished, continue to climb the mountain. Be sure to grab the first two treasure chests in the area before venturing higher up the slopes.

There's a lot of undead in and around the mountain top, so you can either make short work of most things with fire magic, or, better yet, a pair of bows and holy arrows to conserve mana is a great tactic. They can take down most enemies in one volley.

Make your way to the mountain pass and you'll spot the other two treasure chests. That's all of them for this area.

At the summit of Mt. Ordeals, you'll want to rest up, as you'll face off against Scarmiglione once you try to cross the wooden bridge. Palom's "Fira" spell (if you learned it prior to facing off with Scarmiglione) will make short work of them.

When you reach out and touch the crystal, you'll eventually go into a battle against yourself as the Dark Knight. For the battle, simply "Defend" and keep yourself healed until it is over. Attacking constantly will just prolong the battle, so don't bother.

Once the battle has concluded, you'll be a full-fledged Paladin, but Cecil will revert back to level 1, so bear that in mind when fighting. He'll need to be leveled back up. Make your way back down the mountain.
- Chocobo Forest, Mysidia Area
Before we make our way back to Mysidia, go a bit southwest to find our second Chocobo Forest, this time in the Mysidia area. Much like the first one, enter inside and locate the hidden Gysahl Greens.

Once you've collected the lone hidden item just like we did in the previous forest, then you can make your way back to Mysidia and inform them on your success on Mt. Ordeal. You'll be given safe passage to traverse Devil's Road; the portal is housed inside the building on the east of Mysidia.

- Town of Baron
Once you've returned to the Town of Baron, enter the inn and speak to Yang, who is sitting at the bar with two Baron Guards. It'll trigger a fight with those Baron Guards and then Yang himself. Hmm, weird.

  • Location - Town of Baron

With the Baron Key in hand, head over to the weapon and armor shop that was locked the last time you were here at the start of your adventure. Buy any gear you might need (or can afford, as some is expensive) and hug the southeast corner to find a hidden passage to behind the counters.

Loot both treasure chests there.

Inside this building is some stairs going down to the Old Waterway. When you first enter, go immediately right to access the hidden tunnel to the one lone treasure chest off to the side.
- Old Waterway
You'll enter the Old Waterway on [B4]. There will be eight treasure chests to collect while we're down here, as well as a plethora of new monsters to mark down in our bestiary.

  • Location - Old Waterway
  • Treasure Chests: 8
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 82/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 17/54
  • New Monsters: Splasher, Hydra, Electrofish, Gigas Gator, Death Shell, Flood Worm
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

On [B4], head all the way south to find three treasure chests right away. The next level consists of a series of winding secret passages and holds three more treasure chests to find. Once done, take the northeast exit through the waterway.

In [B2] there will be a very obvious tunnel to collect the seventh treasure chest. Enter [B1] and take the left door to a place where you can rest. The final treasure chest is in a small room to the right.

- Baron Castle
When you enter the castle, you want to make your way to the center and go east. Here, you'll find Baigan, an old friend of Cecil's from the Red Wings.

  • Location - Old Waterway
  • Treasure Chests: 15
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 97/342
  • Hidden Items: 2
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 19/54
  • New Monsters: Baigan, Left Arm, Right Arm
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Baigan will betray you, as everyone seems to be lately, and you'll go to battle against him. His arms regenerate upon death, as well as self-destruct on the death of Baigan, causing about 400-450 damage to a singular target per arm.

Once the fight is over, you can heal up for free in Cecil's old room in the west tower. Return to where you were and continue north to the [1F] and take the stairs to the right of your location, then follow it east, then south and out to the courtyard.

Upon entering the staircase, you'll enter a small corridor. Examine the left torch to open a secret passage that will contain six more treasure chests. Return and continue south.

Collect the treasure chests on this floor, then take the right staircase to find two more, then up the next to find three more and one hidden item.

Return to the lower floors and enter the left stairs to collect another hidden item. Now that all those treasure chests and hidden items are finally accounted for, return to the throne room and speak to the figure on the throne to square off against Cagnazzo, the Lord of Water.

Focus on thunder-based magic and you'll make short work of him, then you'll meet up with Cid and finally obtain an airship, vastly expanding our ability to travel.
- Chocobo Forest, Fabul Area
With the aid of Cid's airship, we can tackle the other Chocobo Forests now! We already visited the one in the Baron area and Mysidia area, which leaves us with a few more to locate.

- Town of Mythril
Next, let's get some new armor and weapons to help aid us in our quest. There is a small town called Mythril that sells, well, mythril weapons and armor. How convenient! Don't buy anything just yet. There are some hidden items to be found that will save you some gil. See below for all three.

- Town of Mist
With the Chocobo Forests mapped out and Mythril discovered, we need to use the airship to return to the town of Mist. Beforehand, we couldn't hunt for any of the treasure chests or hidden items because, well, we were too busy inadvertently killing everyone. Whops!

Head over to the northwestern house in the corner of town. Go inside and go through the secret passage behind the fireplace to find four hidden treasure chests. The next task on our agenda is the remaining hidden items. They are located as shown below.

- Troia
Home of the black chocobo, trees and an abundance of water, Troia is home to a few more hidden items for the taking; there isn't much in the way of interesting things to see unless you want to visit the chocobos in the northeastern most building (interact with the hanging armor).

Head down to the southeastern corner of the town and jump into the water via the ladder. Follow the winding waterway to the staircase up north and through the treeline to find a small, hidden area with all four hidden items.

Once you have collected them all, you'll want to stock up on some bows and various arrows, as the next dungeon we have to go to is magnetic! You can't bring any of your metal armor or weapons inside.

For now, though, head to the castle.

- Troia Castle
We're here for a harp, some of the treasure chests (we can't loot them all...yet) and one hidden item. For now, enter the castle and go north.

  • Location - Troia Castle
  • Treasure Chests: 8 (We can't access the other 18 right now)

When you reach [1F], take the right doorway instead of going to the room on the left. Follow the path until you reach three staircases. The center has one hidden item, the right has eight treasure chests.

Once you've filled your pockets with loot, return to [1F] and take the left-most door to find Edward, alive but not well. He'll give you the Twin Harp and ask you to retrieve the crystal from the Dark Elf.
- Chocobo Village
Now that we have a plan on where to go, we need a way to get there. The area is too dense with trees for the airship, which means we need one of these fancy black chocobos. Head north to the area shown below to retrieve one.

Gather up all three items inside the forest and then hop on one of the black chocobos. They fly! That's exactly what we need.

- Magnetic Cavern
Bring your black chocobo east to a small cavern among some woods on a nearby island. Here you'll find the Magnetic Cavern. Make sure to equip non-metallic weapons and armor, otherwise you're going to have a bad time.Oddly enough, Yang's claws are not affected by the magnetic field.

With your improvised weapons and armor equipped, go right until you hit your first treasure chest. If you happen to see the screen warp, or a party member is unable to fight in battle, then something is restricting their movement and you'll need to remove that item from their equipment.

There are two treasure chests on the first level of the cavern.

Descend to [B2] and take the north door from the entrance. Inside the door will be two more treasure chests to collect, then exit and gather the one on the western side of [B2]. Now you can descend to [B3].

On [B3] you will have a door just south of you that has a room to rest and use a tent (or cottage) to heal up if you need it. Head south and across the bridge, entering the southern-most door for three more treasure chests.

Make your way west and through the columns into the door. You'll come to a room with one more chest, sitting all alone...

In [B4], walk along the bridge and take the right-most door first if you need to rest up once more. If not, skip this room. However, don't take the center door; wrap around and grab the chest on the west side of it instead, then enter it.

That's all ten treasure chests, so backtrack and enter the last door to the Crystal Room. When you first face off against the Dark Elf, you'll be defeated in just one turn. You cannot win at first.

Edward will lower the magnetic field, so equip all your best weapons and armor and re-engage the Dark Elf. With the Dark Elf defeated, grab the Earth Crystal.

Now, before you leave the cavern, head back to [B3] where all the pillars were that lined the entrance to [B4]. This is where I was able to find the most Mind Flayer monsters. We want to pick up another hidden summon spell while we're down here, as this is the only place these monsters appear.

It only took me about 20 minutes of grinding, but your mileage may very on how long it takes. Once you have it, go ahead and exit the cavern, board your chocobo and make your way back to Castle Troia and speak to Edward.

- Troia Castle (2nd Visit)
With Edward healing and being tended to for his wounds, we have some more treasure to collect. Go all the way north into the castle to deliver the Earth Crystal now. Kain will interrupt and tell you to deliver it to him for Rosa. Before leaving though...

Remember those three staircases we saw in [F1]? Well, now take the left-most staircase and speak to the lone woman in [B1].

Tell her you were given permission. She'll grant you access to the remaining treasure chests in the castle.

Once you collect all the chests, leave the castle and board your airship for departure and to turn over the crystal. We've got everything we need and can do here. At this point, we have collected every hidden item and every treasure chest from every location we've visited. Well done!
- Tower of Zot
With the trade underway, your airship will be taken to the Tower of Zot. If you need to leave, you can, but every time you board your airship you'll return to the tower, so you can't use it until you clear this part of the game.

MISSABLE - Everything in the Tower of Zot is missable. You only get to go here once, so make sure all treasure is collected and all monsters are accounted for.

The first treasure chest is located on the entrance floor, in the northwestern corner of the map. The [2F] contains only one treasure chest by the door leading to the [3F].

The [3F] and [4F] do not have any treasure chests or notable things of interest in them, so make your way to floor [4F] and take the door as shown below to grab the treasure chest on [5F]. Do the same for the center door on [4F] to get the one on the other side of [5F] and then, lastly, the far right door for last treasure chest in that area.

On [5F] you'll encounter Mindy, Cindy and Sandy, a trio of girls with their "Delta Force" style of fighting. They mostly cast reflect to keep you from being able to heal yourself with magic, so stick to potions if the battle is prolonged.

Tellah's "Bio" spell makes short work of them; you'll want to focus Cindy, as she can resurrect her other fallen sisters if you kill them first.

Once she is out of the way, feel free to focus the other two in any order. Make sure you have every treasure chest picked up and every monster accounted for...once you enter the door they were protecting and confront Golbez, there's no turning back to get what you're missing!

After Tellah facing off against Golbez and Cecil saving Rosa, you'll go to leave and be confronted by Barbariccia, the Lord of the Wind. They're not too difficult to deal with; just don't attack when their wind is wrapped around them (it makes physical attacks useless) and have Kain use his "Jump" ability and you should make short work of the Lord of the Wind.

After that, Rosa will teleport you back to Baron Castle.
- Eblan Castle
Now we're going to take a detour to Eblan Castle; it is located far to the southwest on the main island there. You'll find it in the southeastern corner of the island. We have some monsters to add to our bestiary and some treasure to find inside. Do note that Roc, Roc Baby, Ironback, Mors, Fiery Hounds and Black Lizards spawn around the castle. The castle itself has no monsters inside other than the listed "Monster-in-a-Box".

There are two main towers inside the castle. Starting on the eastern tower, go ahead and enter inside. There is a secret passage behind the northwestern pillar for the chest to the left. Once collected, go to [2F].

There is one hidden item in the right-most vase; collect the three treasure chests available, then drop into the hole that is in front of the other treasure chest and collect the last one in the floor below. Exit out the hidden stairs as shown to enter the "Underground Passage" where three more treasure chests are located.

It'll take you outside the castle, so return to it and go back to the east tower. The last treasure chest is behind a false wall so you can avoid the hole in the floor.

Move onto the west tower and proceed to the second floor after picking up the one treasure chest on [1F] There is a second and final hidden item here in the vase. The other treasure chests in the area can be obtained via the pictures below.

- Agart
With the Magma Rock in hand, head to the island town of Agart. There is one hidden item in the town and no treasure chests, so pick that up first. Take a look at the weapons and armor if you'd like, then return. Use the Magma Rock on the well in the center of Agart to enter the Underworld.

Who knew throwing a rock in a well would be so violent?!

Jump back into your airship and "land" in the now exploded mountain top. You'll enter a cutscene where your airship will descend into the crater and start moving through the lava-filled landscape.

You'll encounter the Red Wings engaging an unknown enemy force and the airship will be hit and crash.

Welcome to the underworld. With nowhere else to go, enter the Dwarven Castle you landed by.

- Dwarven Castle
With the ship incapacitated, head into the Dwarven Castle and speak to King Giott. Cid will leave the party to go and retrieve some mythril to repair the ship. Upon speaking with King Giott, you'll encounter more minions of Golbez's, then face off with Golbez once more. This time you can win the fight, though.

From [1F], take the left staircase where it shows the inn is located, then take the stairs directly north. You'll end up in [B1] where you can find some hidden items in some of the vases. Talk to the dwarf in the same room by the bookcase and wall clock to gain access to their secret underground tunnels.

Return to [1F] and collect the hidden item from the lone vase in the room, then take the stairs on the southwest corner, then the stairs in that room to the next floor. This will put you on the [2F] of the West Tower. Take the stairs to the [3F] and collect the four treasure chests there.

Return to the main room between the two towers and take the right staircase to the East Tower. There will be one treasure chest by the staircase to collect, then move on upstairs. Collect the four treasure chests at the top of the tower.

Once you've collected all the items, we can finally leave the castle through the underground tunnels behind the wall mentioned above. At the end of the tunnel, right before you exit, there is a vase there that fully refills your HP/MP if you need to return to it.
- Tower of Babel
Follow the path outside the dwarven tunnel and go west and then follow it up all the way north to where the dwarven tanks are assaulting the Tower of Babel. For the bestiary, if you're having issues locating the "Mystery Egg", go to [4F] and you should be able to find it without much trouble. Make sure to kill the egg prior to it hatching. An easy way to do this is have Kain attack first and use "Jump".

On [1F], there are three treasure chests as shown below. Nothing special about obtaining them. There are also three on [2F] as well. One in the open, one in each of the doors circled in red.

On [3F], grab the four treasure chests you see out in the open, then enter the southeastern door. There will be two more treasure chests in this sectioned off portion of [4F]. Return to [3F] and take the western door now to end up on the other side of [4F].

On [4F] there are three rooms. Two contain treasure chests and the third is empty.

On [5F] there is one obvious treasure chest on a small island platform on the left side of the room and one on the far southeastern corner. Then from the southeastern corner, go north and take that door; the one in the center is locked.

Make your way to [6F] and then the door to [7F], There is one treasure chest there on the main floor.

Eventually you'll face off against  Dr. Lugae     and his robot assistant, then  Dr. Lugae     once more in his "final form". Honestly, neither pose much of a thread. Have Rosa heal, cast "Bio" with Rydia and "Jump" with Kain and attack with everyone else and you'll make short work of the doctor in all his forms and his little robot too.

Do note that each enemy has two forms, but it is not required you trigger both their forms to collect all four entries in your bestiary. I tested it and confirmed that I only had one form of the robot appear and was given both bestiary marks towards the achievement.

Another item of note is that there are actually two treasure chests you can see ([6F] & [8F] that cannot be obtained. You need 16 treasure chests, but technically there are 18 visible. Please note the two here as ones to ignore; don't rack your brain trying to figure out how to get to them:
Anyway, once you win the fight against the doctor and his robot companion, you'll obtain a key to the locked door that you most certainty saw on [5F]. Go unlock it.

You'll face off against some minor annoyances (Goblin Captains) and then the cannons will subsequently be destroyed. The hole that was carved out of the initial explosion will be sealed by Cid and you'll make it out on the airship. Once you escape, head back to Baron Castle and speak with the two engineers clad in blue in the eastern courtyard of the castle.

They'll install a hook and cable system to the airship to carry our hovercraft in.
- Cave of Eblan & Tower of Babel
With the hook in place, go pick up your hovercraft from the last place you left it. On your map it will be assigned a blue dot. Bring it over to Eblan Castle and drop it, then take it across the shallows to reach the cave.

  • Location - Cave of Eblan & Eblan Settlement/Road to the Tower of Babel
  • Treasure Chests: 20
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 210/342
  • Hidden Items: 2 (Eblan Settlement)
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 47/54
  • New Monsters: Bloody Bat
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

There's going to be 20 treasure chests for us to locate inside the cave.

In the first room, there is one treasure chest in the southeastern corner; take the stairs down into the water, then up the waterfall to find an alcove and two more treasure chests to pick up. Proceed to the next area, [2B], which is in the southwestern corner of the map. Here you'll find the refugees from Eblan, as well as some shops to re-supply.

Head to the room where the survivors are located to find two hidden items. Those two hidden items are all you need to collect in the settlement, so take the exit to the "Road to the Tower of Eblan".

When you first enter, grab the treasure chest immediately upon entering, then head to the left and up both small staircases to the second treasure chest, then go south to discover a secret passage to the third treasure chest.

Head to the next floor and grab the one treasure chest you can reach. The other is blocked by stones, but we can reach it later on. Head south down the stairs and take the secret passage to your right to grab the chest on the other side of the wall.

Follow to the next room where you'll find five treasure chests to collect all along the main passage. Keep following the main passage and you'll find four more treasure chests on the main road.

From the treasure chests, go north to the next area, then there will be a save room on your right and another treasure chest on your left. Grab the treasure chest and then enter the save room for one more hidden treasure chest.

Proceed north to engage in a cutscene. After the fight with Ninja Edge and Rubicante, grab the treasure chest on the other side of the wall.

You'll now be back in the Tower of Babel, but you can now access those treasure chests you couldn't reach before. Finally! This is an area where the monsters are missable, so make sure to collect them all for your bestiary. You cannot come back once you leave!

  • Location - Tower of Babel (2nd Encounter)
  • Treasure Chests: 8
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 218/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 45/54
  • New Monsters: Sorcerer, Ghost Knight, Lamia Matriarch [6F] - [8F], Grudger, Green Dragon [7F], (rare encounter), Mythril Golem [6F] - [8F]
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 5 (The green dragon is not missable and can be found in the underworld later on as mentioned in this guide further down)

There are a total of eight treasure chests as shown below. Make sure you collect them all, as once you face off against Rubicante, you cannot come back to get them.

Head to [3F] now through the western-most door. There's only one treasure chest on the right side of the floor, then enter the only other door you have access to; you'll now be on [4B]. There is one treasure chest on this floor in the center of the room.

Enter the northwestern door to return to [3B] on the opposite side you were before. Go right and you'll see two doors. The left one is a save/resting room and the other is where you'll need to go to afterwards (if you save).

You'll enter the door to [4B], then take the only door you can to [5B]. There is one treasure chest here on the left side on the walkway.

Enter the center of the room now and you'll find the King and Queen of Eblan. This fight is not one you can win, so feel free to just skip your turns to end the fight quickly. Rubicante will appear. Talk to him to trigger the fight.

Since he likes to fight you at your best, he'll fully heal your HP/MP before the fight starts. When you enter the Crystal Room, Golbez will spring yet another trap and you'll fall down the tower onto another floor. From there, go north to grab the treasure chest.

On the [8F], there is one more treasure chest. Collect it and use the time to find the above mentioned monsters for your bestiary. As said previously, you cannot return to this location once you fully leave.

Once you enter this door shown below (on [8F]), you will enter a cutscene where you board the Falcon airship, so don't enter it until you've found everything!

Exit the Tower of Babel once more and return to the Dwarven Castle. Speak to the king to obtain the key to opening the Sealed Cave, then exit the throne room, go right to the weapons and armor shops, down the stairs to the north to [1F] of the castle, then into the infirmary. Look who is sound asleep!

Cid will equip your airship to fly over the seas of lava, so now we can go exploring before we go to the sealed cave.
- Underworld
Now that we have the airship retrofitted with new abilities, we'll be tying off some loose ends down in the Underworld. If you didn't get a Green Dragon for your bestiary yet from the Tower of Babel (which, honestly, I'd recommend skipping anyway), you can find one very easily in this location of the underworld. You can also find Yellow Dragons as well here! For brevity, we shall deem it, "Dragon Island".

There are other monsters we need to find as well and they include:
  • Gorgon (Located: Dragon Island)
  • Tarantula (Located: Dragon Island)
  • Blood Flower (Located: Outside Torma)
  • Hell Flapper (All Over the Underworld)
  • Chrysalis (All Over the Underworld)
  • Gloomwing (Located: Outside Torma & Dragon Island)
  • Armadillo (Located: Northeastern section of the Underworld)

Once you've marked all the necessary beasts, head to Tomra in the southern area of the Underworld. Here you can rest, buy some supplies, weapons, armor and find a few more treasure chests/hidden items for our achievements.
- Tomra
Jump in your airship and travel to the southern edge of the Underworld to find this dwarven town.

  • Location - Tomra (Underworld)
  • Treasure Chests: 4
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 222/342
  • Hidden Items: 2
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 49/54
  • New Monsters: 0
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

In the northwestern corner, you'll find a house containing a plethora of treasure chests. Go ahead and pick up all four in this area. Two of the vases will also contain the two hidden items we need for this town as well.

With your party geared up and nothing left to do here, jump back onto your airship for more exploring.
- Sylvan Cave & Cottage
Take your airship to the far northwestern corner of the map to locate Slyvan Cave, where a plethora of treasure chests can be found! The floor in the Sylvan Cave is dangerous, so after entering, make sure to cast "Float" on everyone with Rosa.

This will keep your party safe while you explore.

  • Location - Sylvan Cave & Cottage (Underworld)
  • Treasure Chests: 32
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 254/342
  • Hidden Items: 1 (Not obtainable at this point)
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 49/54
  • New Monsters: Undergrounder, Tiny Toad, Bog Witch, Evil Dreamer, Mammon, Malboro
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Enter the cave and cast "Float" and grab the two treasure chests on your right. The third is unobtainable right now.

Take the only set of stairs that you can to enter [2B] of the cave. Cast "Float" again and go around the backside of the stairs you just came out of and enter the stairs at the top to enter [3B]. Travel north to pick up three more treasure chests.

Return to [2B] and then take the southern stairs to go to [1B], but now you're in a different area of the floor than before. Follow the right-hand side of the wall to find a secret passage to get that one treasure chest we couldn't before when we first entered. Return to where you entered and go all the way left and up to get two more treasure chests.

Take the stairs south of these two treasure chests to reach [2B]. Go north to grab the lone treasure chest up here, then return to the center set of stairs that goes up to [1B]. There will be more treasure chests to collect.

Return to where you picked up the lone treasure chest and take those stairs down, then over to the chest on your left.

Make your way down and enter the little cottage that is somehow down in this cave. You'll find Yang! Try to speak to him and learn he won't wake up, but if you try, it'll trigger something later on in the game, so make sure you do!

Grab the two treasure chests, then return to the route you came in and use this secret passage to access the other portion of the cave as shown below.

Follow the passage to the set of stairs, then go right to find a set of four treasure chests and then a set of five more. Jump down the hole as shown with the arrow after collecting all the chests.

Follow the path north, then step on the grey square to be teleported to a room with six more treasure chests. Fair warning...every treasure chest is a "Monster-in-a-Box" and will have a fight when you open them. Once done, step on the grey square to be teleported outside.

- Cave & Land of Summons
Take your airship and go to the island shown below to locate the Cave of Summons. Here we need to cast "Float" just like we did in the Sylvan Cave so we don't get hurt as we walk about.

  • Location - Cave & Land of Summons (Underworld)
  • Treasure Chests: 22
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 276/342
  • Hidden Items: 2 (Not obtainable at this point)
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 49/54
  • New Monsters: Hell Flapper, Belphegor, Bloody Eye, Warrior, Mini Satana, Summoner, Arachne, King Naga, Thunder Dragon (New if you didn't get it from the island mentioned above)
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

When you first enter, there are three treasure chests on floor one to collect as shown below. Head to [2B] and there will be two more to collect in opposite corners of the floor.

Follow the secret passage shown below to pick up three treasure chests. The other three are on the main passage and easy to locate. There are six total on this floor [3B].

Using the grey teleport pad like we did in the Sylvan Cave, we'll be taken to the Land of Summons. There will be five treasure chests there to collect. One of these items in the Land of Summons is extremely important (Rat Tail). We'll need to trade it later on! Before moving to the town, stand on the tile here to activate a secret teleporter to a hidden room with four more treasure chests.

Use the second teleport pad to go to town (not the hidden one). First, go to the building shown below for two treasure chests.

There's a lot of really good, albeit, really expensive weapons and armor here so stock up on what you can, then go to the center building and enter the library. Take the set of stairs to the lower floor and onto the grey teleport pad.

From here, you'll enter the throne room. Speak to Asura and prepare for a fight. Heal up, then speak to the King of Summons for another fight. That's everything for now, so feel free to leave. There are two hidden items, but they aren't available yet, so ignore them for now.
- Sealed Cave
Now that our exploration has concluded, head to the Sealed Cave to use Luca's Necklace on the opening of the cave to gain passage inside.

  • Location - Sealed Cave
  • Treasure Chests: 19
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 295/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 49/54
  • New Monsters: Evil Bat, Screamer, King Naga, Miss Vamp, Chimera Brain, Trap Door
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

When you first enter the Sealed Cave, climb down the rope leading south and enter the door, which will attack (Trap Door). Inside are two treasure chests and one just outside it for a total of three.

There are two in the passage between the floors. Both doors lead to nothing, but fighting the Trap Doors gives good experience, so I'd recommend engaging them all the same. Enter the right side to take you to the next area.

Take the rope down to the south platform for a chest, then return to your starting point and go right across the bridge and grab the second treasure chest. Make your way north and face off against every Trap Door for some good experience.

From the right side where the first door rests: the first door is empty, second one contains one treasure chest, the third has three treasure chests, the fourth door is empty, the fifth one contains a rest/saving location and the sixth and final door along the north wall contains two treasure chests.

Take the southwestern door to the next area, which contains one treasure chest. In [3B], there will be two doors and two more treasure chests to collect. Take the south exit (the Trap Door leads to nothing).

In this room, grab the one treasure chest, then take the rope down. The Trap Door here leads to nothing. Once you take the rope down, go right and enter that room for two more treasure chests, then take the stairs to [4B]

Rest if you need to, then continue south through the passageway, then follow the path around to [5B]. Defeat the final Trap Door monster to enter the Crystal Room. Exit the Crystal Room the way you came for a cutscene and a boss fight!

Exit the Sealed Cave the way you came and you'll enter another cutscene. Return to the Dwarven Castle and enter the thrown room for a cutscene. You can now go between the Overworld and t he Underworld with the airship's drill.
- Overworld/Underworld Errands I
With the drill in hand and the ability to traverse the Overworld and the Underworld, we have some loose ends to tie off before advancing the story. First, let's go find our old airship.
  • Location - Fabul Castle, Sylvan Cave & Kokkol's Smithy
  • Treasure Chests: 0
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 295/342
  • Hidden Items: 2 (In Kokkol's Smithy)
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 51/54
  • New Monsters: 0
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0
Bring the hovercraft with you and bring both to the Island of Mythril. Hop into the hovercraft and make your way to the cavern southwest of it.

Speak to the little man in blue and exchange the Rat Tail for some Adamantite Ore. Now we need to return to Fabul Castle. Speak to Yang's wife at the top of the western tower and let her know what has become of her husband. She'll give you a frying pan to, well, wake up Yang with.

Return to Yang's bedside in Sylvan Cave with the frying pan in hand. Smack Yang with it to wake him up. The Sylphs will grant their powers to Rydia as well for another summon for the books.

Now, head to Kokkol's Smithy in the southeastern corner of the Underworld.

Go to the [2F] and speak with the smith in bed. He'll get to making a new weapon. In the meantime, pick up the two hidden items. One in the vase on the [1F] and one in the bookshelf on the [2F].

Now return to Yang's wife in Fabul Castle to let her know about Yang and to receive a very special gift in exchange for your efforts. With our errands complete, jump into your airship once more and return to Mysidia to trigger a cutscene and a magical Lunar Whale! A Space Whale!

With the majestic Lunar Whale at your disposal, you can now go to the moon! But, before we do that, return to the Underworld and speak to the smithy to retrieve a very special weapon from the ore you gave him not that long ago. You'll also earn this achievement:

"Sword of Myth"
Obtained Excalibur.
- The Moon (Lunar Surface)
So now that we are on the moon via the Lunar Whale (quite the sentence, isn't it?). We should tie off some more loose ends with the bestiary. You'll also find these around most of the moon so don't worry about getting them all now if you don't want to. At least get the "Bomb" summon, though.
  • Lunar Virus
  • Balloon
  • Dark Grenade
  • Eukaryote
  • Prokaryote
  • Black Flan
  • Abyss Worm

Pay special attention to "Balloon" enemies, as they drop another summon item we need, called a "Bomb". Use this time to fight some groups of them to collect it.

With the "Bomb" summon in hand, board the Lunar Whale and make your way to the southwestern corner of the moon. Here you'll find the home of those folk in the Overworld/Underworld that would offer to re-name your characters.

Another interesting note is that one of them sells some truly rare items. One in particular is the "Siren" item that can be used to summon the rarest enemy in a particular area. It'll be helpful for locating some of the rare enemies you might have trouble finding naturally. Make sure you have the gil to supply them, though. Everything in Hummingway Home is not only rare, but very expensive.

With the summon "Bomb" activated from your inventory, you should have now unlocked the achievement for locating all four secret summons:
  • Goblin
  • Cockatrice
  • Mind Flayer
  • Bomb

If you missed one, none of the four are completely missable, so check the bestiary up at the top of this guide for their respective locations. The Pixel Remaster seems to have made locating them much easier than they use to be, so a little grinding and you'll find them without issue. In any case, you'll unlock:

"Summon Collector"
Found and learned all secret summon magic.
- Western Lunar Path
There's a lot of different tunnels and entrances on the moon. We'll start with the Western Lunar Path, though.

  • Location - Lunar Path
  • Treasure Chests: 3
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 298/342
  • Hidden Items: 2 (In Kokkol's Smithy)
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 51/54
  • New Monsters: (Same as the Lunar Surface)
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

There will be three treasure chests in this area to pick up. All three are just to the right of each area and easy to spot. Grab them all and continue to the next room.

You'll exit and need to follow the winding path to the Eastern Lunar Path shown here. There are no treasure chests in this area.

Follow the path out, then go west to reach the Crystal Palace. There are no treasure chests here, but there are two pads that heal your HP and MP so use those while you're here. Enter the center of the tower to enter a cutscene and recruit a new member to your party.

- Cave of Bahamut
Time to enter the vast cave system inside the moon, called the Cave of Bahamut. You can't land your magical whale on any of the rocky parts of the moon, so land it on level terrain outside this area and enter on foot.
  • Location - Cave of Bahamut
  • Treasure Chests: 4
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 302/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 51/54
  • New Monsters: Selene Guardian, Dark Sage, Bone Dragon, Behemoth, Giant Warrior, Gold Dragon (rare encounter)
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

Right when you enter [1B], go south for the first of four treasure chests. There is another in a hidden passage through the rocks as well. On [2B] there will be two more along the main path, so they'll be easy to spot.

In the last section of the map, you'll face off against Behemoth three separate times; he'll get stronger every encounter. His main gimmick is he deals out physical damage every attack done to him, making him extremely dangerous and a super annoying enemy to fight.

After the third fight, you'll face off against Bahamut himself. His deal is that he casts "Mega Flare" at the end of the countdown, so make sure you cast reflect on as many people as you can beforehand, otherwise it will kill them instantly.

Your reflect will shoot it back at Bahamut for 9,999 damage. Bahamut is a pushover compared to Behemoth. You'll then earn the summon "Bahamut" for Rydia!

- Giant of Babel
When you first return to Earth, you'll encounter a cutscene and be thrust right into the heart of battle within the Giant of Babel. This is a one-time location, so everything is missable. Make sure you get everything you need before facing off against the boss.

  • Location - Giant of Babel
  • Treasure Chests: 8 (all missable!)
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 310/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 51/54
  • New Monsters: Beamer, Centaurion, Mech Soldier, Searcher, Giant Soldier, Mech Dragon, Last Arm (Monster-in-a-Box), Elemental Lords (all four, again), Defense Node, CPU
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 7 (All regular enemy encounters)

You'll land in an empty portion of the giant, so take the staircase up north to proceed.

Enter the "Chest of the Giant" to find this first treasure chest of eight. You'll also be able to spot a few others along your path, so pick those up as well! In total, there are five treasure chests here in this area.

In the "Stomach of the Giant" there will be two more treasure chests to pick up.

The last treasure chest is in the "Inner Path of the Giant" located here:

Before venturing forward, you'll see a familiar face from the Hummingway Home from the moon. They'll be there to stock you up on essential items and there will be a safe point to the left where you can heal. I'd recommend doing so before moving onward.

After saving, head to the next room through the north stairs and down the walkway to encounter all four Elemental Lords once more. You'll fight all four back-to-back-to-back-to-back, so make sure you're fully prepared and have enough resources to replenish MP so you can dish out your best spells for such a long fight.

Once you come out victorious, you'll unlock another achievement. Before you leave this area, capture at least one "Mech Dragon" for your bestiary; this narrow path is the only area they spawn!

"Rematch"
Defeated the four elemental lords again.

When you enter the main chamber of the Giant of Babel, you'll face off against the CPU, a Defense Node and an Attack Node. Destroy the Defense Node, as it heals the CPU for 3,000 very quickly, but do not defeat the Attack Node; the node has a weak laser attack, but if you kill it, the CPU will cast two spells dealing 9,9999 damage to two different party members each time.

Leaving the Attack Node live until then end and just focusing the CPU makes the fight much easier.
- Overworld/Underworld Errands II
Now that the Giant of Babel has been destroyed, the party will automatically go to the Moon. Activate the crystal and return to Earth for now, then find your airship with the drill attached. We have more errands to run!

Return to the Land of Summons and examine the bookshelf in the armor shop to collect one of the two hidden items we couldn't collect beforehand. The second one is on the bookshelf in the weapon's shop (left side).

Head back to the airship and return to the Sylvan Cave, the cottage within to be specific. While Yang is no longer there, a hidden item is there to collect. The last one in fact!

Once you collect this final item, you should earn the achievement for finding all hidden items. Well done!

"Item Detector"
Obtained all hidden items.

Now, make your way to Castle Baron and go to the Eastern Tower, then all the way down to the underground throne room. Enter and meet with the slain King of Baron, who now wields the power of Odin.

Beat Odin in combat to learn the final non-secret summon for Rydia and unlock another achievement!

"Summon Master"
Learned all non-secret summon magic.
- Lunar Subterrane I
Make your way to the lunar surface and return to the Crystal Palace and enter the room north of the entrance to find yourself in the Crystal Room. In the center is a warp to the final dungeon. Before you go, stop by the Hummingway Home and stock up on a few dozen "Siren" items. We need this to summon the "Flan Princess!".

  • Location - Lunar Subterrane
  • Treasure Chests: 32
  • Total treasure chests at this point: 342/342
  • Hidden Items: 0
  • Total Hidden Items at this point: 54/54
  • New Monsters: Zeromus, Dark Bahamut, Ogopogo, White Dragon, Plague, Lunasaur, Lunar Subterrane, Gold Dragon, Silver Dragon, Zemus' Breath, Zemus' Body, Lunar Subterrane, Ahriman, Red Dragon, Blue Dragon, Li'l Murderer, Dinozombie, Bone Dragon
  • Missable Monster Encounters: 0

When you enter the location, you'll earn the achievement for visiting every location in the game. Well done!

"Adventurous Wayfarer"
Traveled to all the map locations.

When you first enter, take the secret passage circled on the map to a hidden treasure chest on the left side of the map, then take this second passage as shown below.

Enter the teleporter and then the only set of stairs you see in front of you. Head north, grab the treasure chest and then keep going around and onto the teleporter pad.

Follow the passage south and enter the stairs to [3B] and then try to take the sword. Prepare for a fight!

Return all the way [1B] when you first entered and, instead of taking the teleporter pad, take the stairs on the south end of the room. Here you can follow the narrow passage and enter a secret tunnel to that treasure chest just sitting in the dark that you saw on your way to the sword.

Follow the secret path up north to grab the other treasure chest connected to it, then take the stairs nearby to the next area. The next area has three treasure chests in the area, accessible by some hidden passages as shown below. When done, take the center staircase going down to enter [4B].

Go all the way east to collect this treasure chest on [4B].

Take the stairs down one floor and enter the far left cavern for one more treasure chest. Once collected, enter the room at the very bottom of this area in the southeastern corner.

Grab the two treasure chests in this area, then take the only other exit on the left side of the cavern. You'll spot one treasure chest when you exit. Defeat the Behemoth guarding it and then take the stairs down to the next area. Grab the chest nearby.

Once you secure the treasure chest, enter the only entrance (not the stairs going back the way you came) you have access to. Follow the passage and grab the treasure chest on the way to the next room on this floor.

When you come out the other side, you'll have a north and a south exit. Take the north exit first and grab the treasure chest on the other side, then return to the previous room and take the southern exit.

Take the treasure chest on this floor as well.

Return to the north door, then go west and enter the door over there, then grab the treasure chest on the left side of the room.

Once you grab that treasure chest, go north and take the only other exit out of the room. Go left and grab the treasure chest here.

Go right and enter the room shown below. This is where we are going to use all those sirens. Enter the room, grab the lone treasure chest and quick save for now (that way we can re-use the sirens!). Our goal is to kill them until one drops a "Pink Tail". Remember the fella that was collecting rare tails? Well, we've now got another one for him!

Once you obtain the "Pink Tail", it is your choice if you want to return to the Adamant Grotto in the Overworld. I chose to do this for the better armor and to stock back up on MP/HP replenishing items from the Hummingway Home vendor. You make so much money from the fights with Flan Princesses that you can buy 99 of most things like Hi-Potions, Dry Ethers and regular Ethers to replenish all your magic points.

Return to the Adamany Grotto and hand over the pink tail for a wonderful prize for grinding; it took me about four hours of grinding to earn one, but it can come at any time. You can collect more than one and earn more than one set of armor should you so desire.

Once you're gifted the Adamant Armor, you'll unlock a well earned achievement:

"Tail of Myth"
Exchanged the pink tail for Adamant Armor.

- Lunar Subterrane II
Return to the Flan Princess room and collect any additional pink tails you wish, then when you're done, take the staircase down to the next floor right by the entrance to the pink tail room.

Grab the two treasure chests on your right and left, then take the left set of stairs for a third treasure chest and a cloaked bridge to the west! Wrap around the left side and take the hidden passage to some also hidden stairs! It will lead to another treasure chest.

Loot the treasure chest and then head all the way to the right and jump into the teleporter. Keep following the stairs, entering the teleporter pads as they come. Grab the chest midway as well.

Along the way will be a place to save and heal. I would recommend doing both, as our second sealed weapon is on the other side. Interact with it to face off with Dark Behemoth!

With Ragnarok in hand, return to the set of two stairs where you crossed the cloaked bridge. Take the right set of stairs now and enter the southeastern area this time instead. When you do, there will be one treasure chest in the area. Continue through the one new passage to enter a room with four exits.

The first room in the row of three is a save/healing spot. I recommend doing both there. The middle room is where our third sealed weapon is located. Interacting with it will engage you in a battle with Plague.

The third one contains two treasure chests and a pair of Lunarsaurs will ambush you when you try to open them! Enter the fourth door to head down one floor to a new looking area. Grab this treasure chest along the way!

Then make your way to the southeastern corner and interact with the fourth and final sealed weapon. A battle with Ogopogo will commence!

With all four in hand, you'll have unlocked another well earned achievement!

"Power Unleashed"
Obtained all sealed equipment.

Take the only staircase nearby to [9B]. There will be one treasure chest to pick on the right-hand side and one just before the teleport pad. Make sure to get both! The teleport pad will take you to [10B], where the final two treasure chests remain!

That will now unlock the achievement for finding every treasure chest! If you don't get it after unlocking these two, enter a battle and it should appear after the battle is over. Well done!

If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend reaching level 70 with everyone for the achievement. That way, you only have the final boss left to complete the game. Once you do, you'll unlock another achievement:

"Seasoned Hero"
Reached level 70 for all party members.

Once you're ready for the final battle, take the teleport pad to [11B], then continue until you meat up with Golbez and FuSoYa on [12B]. Make sure to heal before walking up to everyone!

You'll trigger a cutscene when you get too close, resulting in a few scripted fights and some plot advancement. Zemus' body will be destroyed and his hatred will erupt from his corpse.

Eventually, you'll retrieve the Crystal from Golbez before the fight; use it when engaging Zeromus to reveal his "final form" if you will. Only then can you actually deal damage. Pull no punches in the fight because he won't either.

After the fight, you'll enter a very long series of cutscenes before the credits roll. Upon saving the game and returning to the menu, you'll be credited with completing the game, finishing the bestiary and unlocking all the achievements! Well done!

"To the Blue Planet"
Defeated Zeromus and restored peace to the world.

"Master of IV"
Earned all achievements.

Oh and a fun fact, the achivements can be from different saves, like u can get 100% best from one and adamantine armor from another. I don't endorse unlocking achivements just by getting saves but this game can be very unforgetting with mistakes.

I finished the FF IV with this guide, I am very grateful for all your work again. I wish u had pictures of the monsters with each step like u had with FF III guide. I missed one monsters from Tower of Babel and Adamantine armor in exchange for pink tail so I had to get somewhere a save from, otherwise I would have to spend 20 hours again. I will upload my save games here, hope u don't mind https://www.dropbox.com/t/PMtjbTmdkanyIiTP (someone posted on reddit 100% save but it's not working) newest save is exactly before getting adamantine armor, save is missing only a few monsters that are not possible to get anymore but beside those two everything is there. I should have been more patient but many sprites of the monsters looked a like. Cheers! :devilskiss:
