Passing splash screen
Launch the game as you would any other game and you may get what appears to be an infinitely loading splash screen, as below. It's actually not stuck loading, there's just a popup running behind the main window of the game. (This doesn't happen with the demo, for whatever reason, just the full game.)

In order to bypass this popup (which has a singular OK button) you need to press Enter on a keyboard or, equivalently, Steam+Right D-pad simultaneously. The game will then progress past the splash!

Any other method of inputting Enter will also work, such as:
  • Opening on-screen keyboard with Steam+Y
  • Remapping some button in the controls menu to Enter
  • Launch game in desktop mode (accessible through power menu) and manually clicking OK on the window
Bypassing startup stuff
Now, I can't speak to the support, safety, or long-term necessity of this mod, but there is also a mod that purports to disable the splash screen[www.nexusmods.com]. Use at your own risk. As the popup menu is not directly related to the splash screen (it's about a driver issue), you'll probably still be stuck on load-in, just now looking at something else. You can also skip all the intro content[www.nexusmods.com], but I feel this isn't necessary as you can mostly skip by pressing buttons, and what you can't skip is quite quick.
Porting saves
Free trial => main game
If you happen to have played the free trial first (which I recommend; gives you a good test run of the mechanics), your save file will be automatically ported over as long as it was created on the same device. This includes if you have downloaded but uninstalled the Banishers trial, provided you didn't delete the save file.

Finding save files
From the Deck desktop interface (accessible via the power menu in Steam), you can move saves as needed with the software dolphin. The basic save filepath is:
Home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/

You then need the steam ID for the game you want. For the full game, this is 1493640. The demo has ID no. 2851640.

This makes the full path to offline (no steam cloud backup) saves:
Home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1493640/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Banishers Ghosts of New Eden/Saved/SaveGames/

Full path to online saves:
Home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1493640/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Banishers Ghosts of New Eden/Saved/SaveGames/Steam/
The only difference is the "Steam" folder appended to the end. Inside this folder will be a numbered folder that contains the info you want.

Finding other files
The steamapps > common folder in Dolphin also where you can find other game files, should you choose:
Home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common
Ideal graphics settings
For visual quality
Textures at Ultra High and nothing else below High.
For performance
The default ultra settings unfortunately run a little clunky. The below give you the best possible graphics without lag. (Please leave comments if you've found a better set of settings!)

The biggest piece of advice is AMD FS8 2.2 and View Distance only at Ultra High if you set at most two of the following to Ultra: Foliage, Textures, Effects, Shadows, and/or Post Process. You can also check out this other guy's settings for an OLED deck.
  • Max framerate: 60 fps
  • Vertical synchronization: Off (big performance impact here, no visual impact that I noticed)
  • Anti aliasing/upsampling: AMD FS8 2.2
  • FSR 2 Quality: Quality
  • Graphics quality: Set it to Ultra High first, then customize
  • View distance quality: High if you plan to set more of the below settings to "Ultra High". Otherwise you can do Ultra High.
  • Foliage quality: High (visually, Ultra High is only a little better)
  • Textures quality: Very High - this is the difference between a "blurry" looking game and something crisper
  • Effects quality: High (you can probably use Very High for most of the game, but in boss fights where there are a lot of effects and speed is important, I'd set it lower. Visually, there is very little difference.)
  • Shadows quality: High or Ultra High (ultra is just a tad bit deeper blacks and more realistic edges)
  • Post process quality: High - this one makes a fairly big difference, performance-wise. Visually, only helps a bit with crispness.
  • Anti aliasing: Should not apply with settings above, but if you ARE using it, this had a huge impact on performance for me.
