General information
None of these fixes are bannable. You are only modifying your graphics driver options or the games config files.

Advanced Warfare doesn't use Valve Anti Cheat and every known Anti Cheat Program only auto-bans if you're modifying memory addresses or game files

So as long as you aren't replacing .dll files in your game directory, download bots from the internet (Duh..) or use tools like Cheat Engine or whatever to modify game values (e.g.: FOV Changer) you should be fine.

Also you shouldn't use macros which abuse anything (e.g.: No recoil or Auto fire).

That said, I won't take responsibility if your account still gets banned for whatever reason or you break your computer in any way.

The text editor I'm using is Sublime Text[www.sublimetext.com]. You can also use Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org] or other editors of course although they might screw with the formatting of the config files.

Driver update [Nvidia]
NVIDIA released a new WHQL driver which updates the Advanced Warfare profile with Stereo and SLI profiles.

Regardless of whether you're using SLI or not you should install it to ensure the best performance:

Pre-rendered frames [Nvidia]
What will probably fix your performance issues and possible input lag in-game is trying to decrease the pre-rendered frame limit from 3 (default) to 1.

  1. open the NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. go to Manage 3D settings
  3. click on the Program Settings tab
  4. select Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from the profile list (doesn't matter if SP or MP, will be applied to both)
  5. set Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1 instead of the Global setting

You can also look at this fancy gif showing the steps:

Driver update [AMD]
As of 09.12.2014 there's the so called Omega driver (version 14.12) available for AMD users. Among other features there supposedly are performance increases of up to 30% in several games including COD:AW

So in case you aren't using it already download it here:

AMD Catalyst 14.12 Omega (64-bit)[support.amd.com]

Flip queue size [AMD]
The AMD Control Center doesn't allow you to change the Maximum pre-rendered frames (actually the AMD equivalent setting is called Flip queue size) that easily.

The option is hidden and can only be changed by using the third-party tool RadeonPro.

RadeonPro Download[www.radeonpro.info]

Since I don't own a Radeon card the following steps were not tested. It could be that changing the Flip Queue Size worsens your performance or a different value might be better.

Change Matchmaking Ping limit [CFG]
Probably already known to you but in case you haven't changed it yet:

Matchmaking by default looks for games with a maximal ping of 400. By changing the value to another one (100 is recommended) you can avoid most lags in game.

The config file which contains this value is in the folder players2 inside your COD:AW folder

e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Advanced Warfare\players2

  • open the file config_mp.cfg in any text editor
  • search for the cvar cl_maxping
  • change the value from whatever it is to 100
  • enjoy hopefully lag-free gaming

Activate raw input [CFG]
Changing several values in the config file will activate raw input and disable mouse acceleration completely.

The config file which contains these values is in the folder players2 inside your COD:AW folder

e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Advanced Warfare\players2

  • open the file config_mp.cfg in any text editor
  • search for the cvar cl_mouseAccel
  • change the value from whatever it is to 0
  • search for the cvar r_elevatedPriority
  • change the value from whatever it is to 0
  • search for the cvar in_mouse
  • change the value from whatever it is to 2

If you still have issues after changing these values, try setting your mouse polling rate to 125Hz instead of 500Hz or 1000Hz. This can be done in the control panel of your Mouse (e.g.: Logitech Gaming Software).

Numeric mouse sensitivity [CFG]
You already have a slider to change your mouse sensitivity ingame but if you want to change your sensitivity numerically you can do this in the config file.

Why would you do this? One of the reasons is that every COD game uses the same way of calculating the sensitivity. So you can use the same sensitivity in every COD game.

Please note that the sensitivity is also influenced by your FOV.

The config file which contains this value is in the folder players2 inside your COD:AW folder

e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Advanced Warfare\players2

  • open the file config_mp.cfg in any text editor
  • search for the cvar sensitivity
  • change the value from whatever it is to whatever you want
Low-res texture fix [INGAME]
Two options in-game will actually favor the loading of Shadow Maps to the correct loading of the actual textures which will make them look ... bad.

To fix this simply disable the two options "Cache Spot Shadow Maps" and "Cache Sun Shadow Maps" in the advanced graphics options menu in-game.

Easy.
V-Sync [INGAME]
Simply said: Vertical sync (or V-Sync) locks yours framerate to your monitor's refresh rate.
e.g. 60HZ monitor → maximum of 60fps

The problem is the way that V-Sync works, as it introduces input lag. Some say it's not noticeable while others say they can't play any game (shooter) with it activated.

The option is called 'Sync Every Frame' in the options menu of COD:AW.

If you want to disable it, you can do so now. The disadvantage of doing so is screen tearing.

Port forwarding (Open NAT) [ROUTER]
Less of a fix and more of a "how-to get your NAT type to be open".

Well, you have to open several ports to do so.

TCP Ports:

27014-27050

UDP Ports:

3074, 3478, 4379-4380, 27000-27031, 27036

If you want it (a little bit) more comfortably you can also activate UPNP in your router settings which will automatically open and close ports as the application desires which might pose a security threat although there apparently are not too many malicious programs abusing UPNP.
