I know, there are quite a lot of games about STEINS;GATE and you can't help but feel overwhelmed and wonder which games to play first or if you actually even need to play them all.

When it comes to the visual novels, you just need to play two games and the rest of the games are optional.

If you just want to play what you need to play, then follow this play order:

1. STEINS;GATE

2. STEINS;GATE 0

The two games listed above are canon, meaning they are actually part of the story. The rest of the games are spin-offs, they are non-canonical, meaning they are not actually part of the story.

If you want to play everything there is about STEINS;GATE, even visual novels which aren't canon, then follow this play order:

Based on this correlation, my assumption is that STEINS;??? will feature a new cast of characters with a few old/STEINS;GATE characters returning and/or being mentioned, have a plot about d-mails and time leaping and take place in at least one worldline we experienced in STEINS;GATE, just years after 2010. I expect this game to release between 2026-2030.
