! Update 1: Enable Edge Pan
Since Update 1, this option is available in the game's settings menu.
Warning
Enabling cursor focused zoom and rotation only works properly if you play with mouse and keyboard. Enabling this will break rotation and zoom on a controller. That means, if you use both, controller and mouse, you can't use cursor focused controls.
Step 1: Close Planet Coaster 2
Ensure that Planet Coaster 2 is completely closed before you continue. This is necessary to prevent the game from overwriting or ignoring your changes.
Step 2: Locate the Correct Configuration File
  • Open your Windows user folder in the file explorer
  • Go to
    Saved Games > Frontier Developments > Planet Coaster 2
  • Open the folder with your unique Steam ID, a random looking long number.
  • Inside, open the Config folder.
  • In the Config folder, look for the file named Controls_remote.config.xml
Step 3: Open the File in a Text Editor
  • Right-click on Controls_remote.config.xml file.
  • Choose Open With and select a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++.
Step 4: Modify Camera Settings
Once the file is open, locate the block that starts with
<Camera preset="Custom" version="4">
Its near the bottom of the file. In this block we can change up to two lines to enable the advanced settings.

Enable Cursor-Focused Rotation
To enable cursor-focused rotation change the line
<RotateFocus>Center</RotateFocus>
to
<RotateFocus>Cursor</RotateFocus>

Enable Cursor-Focused Zoom
To enable cursor-focused zoom change the line
<ZoomFocus>Center</ZoomFocus>
to
<ZoomFocus>Cursor</ZoomFocus>
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Save the file by selecting File > Save or pressing Ctrl + S.
Step 6: Start the Game
Enjoy building with a little less console-feel on PC!

@RobCo:
PC2 basically uses the same type of config file like PC1. Just open your PC1 Controls_remote.config.xml and compare it to your PC2 file and try to copy settings over.

This is fantastic Zarr0c. Is there a config for the simple mouse drag options from PC1 too? I am used to "Simple Drag Inverted" but in PC2 it defaults to simple drag. My muscle memory is thrown off!

For people who want to change the edge-panning sensitivity you can change the number in the following entry ("EdgeSen") in the "Controls_remote.config.xml" file to a number between around -5 and 5 to decrease or increase edge-panning sensitivity respectively (I changed mine to -2, for slightly less sensitive edge-panning, this way you don't trigger the edge-panning as easily when interacting with the GUI):

</Camera>
<CameraSensitivity preset="Custom" version="1">
<EdgeSen>-2.000000</EdgeSen>
