NOTE: This guide is very very much a work in progress, by very much a not-perfect player, so if you spot any typos, please let me know

!NOTE: Difference between Battlemechs and Omnimechs is simpler than it may appear. As an example: The Warhawk LT is crammed full of DHS it cannot remove, but can change one variant's arm (or leg, or torso...) for another. Battlemechs cannot change limbs, but have no locked equipment, and that includes the engine (which is locked for all Omnimechs)!

!Weapon hardpoints function differently than they did in Mechwarrior5:Mercenaries!
If you have the tonnage, and weapon slots, you can mount any weapon
Any mech can mount an active probe, in any open slot
Any non-weapon item (such as Heat Sinks or Armor Pods) can be mounted in weapon slots
Armor can be added to any mech, with no maximum, so long as you have weight and space
Weapon weights are listed in game, weapon slots are not directly listed

Weapon slot listings are as such: Total-Size
2x2-slot can carry 1 or 2 weapons 2-slot or 1-slot
1x2-slot can carry 1 weapon either 1-slot or 2-slot
2x1-slot can carry 2 1-slot weapons, but nothing larger

Energy Weapons (E)
  • All are 1-slot except the Large Pulse and ERPPC
  • Large Pulse Lasers and ERPPC are 2-slot
Missile Weapons (M)
  • All standard SRM are 1-slot
  • All Artemis SRM are 2-slot
  • All SSRM are 1-slot except the SSRM6 (2-Slot)

  • LRM5 and 10 are 1-slot
  • LRM15 are 2-slot
  • LRM20 are 4-slot
  • Artemis LRM are 1 slot bigger

  • NARC is 1 slot

This is amazing.

If I were to make one improvement - whether or not the CT can hold more armor is a big factor - so available CT crits matters to me. (Available torso less important). Mechs that let me add 1-2 tons of armor to the CT get heavy bonus points when I am evaluating a mech.

Thank you for this, this is the kind of data I was hoping the TRO would have provided. Indicating which specific omnipod section has the "potential" gear (ecm, JJ) and number+slots of weapons per pod would be super useful as well. Like there is a version of the NVA arms that had 6x1 slots for E weaps and another that had 3x2 slots.

Quite a bit of the MWO weaknesses are not really applicable here, the AI is not going to aim specifically for the Warhawk's DHS packed side, for example. I am working on adding more detail, but short of posting screenshots of every variant I am having some trouble with formatting (and it isn't letting me upload any screenshots either)

I would note that certain chassis like the WHK, KFX, EXE have locked torso, leg, etc slots. They are weaknesses that should be considered. From an ex-MWO player perspective, for example, blowing off the RT off the WHK basically wipes out half its firepower and this gets exploited. Especially, since you cannot tweak armor points in this game without taking up pod space.

I'd also put certain omnipods having locked Jump Jet slots too. DWF-S, TBR-S & KFX-S

Im debating expanding this to cover such blockages (the Warhawk has one sidetorso completely filled for example) but I dont want to turn the guide into something massive
