Introduction
So, you want to build a Jurassic Park which, unlike the novels and movies, actually contains only dinosaurs from the Jurassic era? Then you've come to the right place!

JWE2 features animals spanning around 360 million years of history - there is no gameplay problem with mixing dinosaurs from different eras and so this guide primarily for those who want to build parks or enclosures with dinosaurs themed around particular eras.

The information here comes from the games own information and isn't cross checked against current dino-knowledge, so if its wrong email the devs and not me :)

Devonian
Spanning a period of time approximately 419 to 359 million years ago, this is the oldest period of time covered by the game, and is represented by a single species.

Marine
  • Dunkleosteus
Permian
Preceding the "age of Dinosaurs" the Permian period was approximately 299 to 251 Million years ago, within the game this period is represented by two species.

Terrestrial
  • Dimetrodon
  • Lystrosaurus
Triassic
The Triassic period, approximately 251 - 201 million years ago is the period of time when the first Dinosaurs roamed the Earth, this is mirrored in the game with the appearance of five species, two of which are true Dinosaurs.

Marine
  • Nothosaurus
  • Ichthyosaurus
  • Shonisaurus

Terrestrial
  • Coelophysis
  • Herrerasaurus

The game lists "Nothosaurus" as being "Triassic" whilst indicating the other species from this era as being "late Triassic" - I haven't distinguished between epochs here but will for other eras.
Early - Mid Jurassic
Now we're into it! The Jurassic era (approx. 201 - 145 Million years ago) features some of the iconic and recognisable dinosaur species - albeit only 26 of the 122 species featured in the game come from this era.

The games database distinguishes between Early, Mid and Late Jurassic species, I've grouped the Early - Mid (up to the 166/165 MYA mark) species together here, with the exception of Jeholopterus which is designated "Mid-Late" so its gone into the Late Jurassic section.

Marine
  • Attenborosaurus
  • Plesiosaurus

Terrestrial
  • Cryolophosaurus
  • Dilophosaurus
  • Huayangosaurus
  • Megalosaurus
  • Monolophosaurus
  • Proceratosaurus
  • Segisaurus

Flying
  • Dimorphodon
Late Jurassic
Following on from the above, the late Jurassic period (161 - 145 million years ago) is represented in JWE2 by 16 species, listed for your convenience below.

Marine
  • Liopleurodon

Terrestrial
  • Allosaurus
  • Apatosaurus
  • Brachiosaurus
  • Camarasaurus
  • Ceratosaurus
  • Chunkingosaurus
  • Compsognathus
  • Diplodocus

Early Cretaceous
The Cretaceous period was the last era where dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and spanned from 145 to 66 Million years ago. The bulk of animals represented in JWE2, as well as some of the most iconic species from the Jurassic Park/World franchise come from this era.

The in-game database splits animals from this era into Early and Late Cretaceous, and so I've done the same here.

Marine
  • Megalodon
Holocene
The Holocene is the current period we are in, which started 11,700 years ago, JWE2 uses this period to cover its various hybrid species, which I've included here for reasons of completeness.
