Introduction
Welcome to a guide on blocking the online connection for Dark Souls 2 using the Windows Firewall. By following these steps, you can restrict online features.
1. Access Firewall Settings
  • Press the Windows key + S to open the search bar.
  • Type "Windows Defender Firewall" and select it.
2. Access Advanced Settings
  • On the left panel, click on "Advanced settings."
3. Create a New Outbound Rule
  • In the left panel, click on "Outbound Rules."
  • In the right panel, right-click and choose "New Rule..."
4. Choose Rule Type
  • Select "Program" and click "Next."
5. Specify the Program
  • Choose "This program path" and click "Browse..."
  • Navigate to the Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin executable and select it.
6. Specify the Action
  • Choose "Block the connection" and click "Next."
7. Specify When to Apply the Rule
  • Choose all options.
  • Click "Next."
8. Name the Rule
  • Enter a descriptive name for the rule, like "Dark Souls 2 Offline" and click "Finish."
All done :)
Now, the rule is set, blocking online connections for Dark Souls 2. To revert, go to Windows Firewall, find the rule, and disable when nedeed.

I set this up last year, and my PC changed to Windows 11, and thankfully, this rule was kept in the firewall and still works, as of May 2025.
Big Thank You for this info!

PS I will also shout out the Blue Acolyte mod for anyone wanting better protection from hackers and still have online play.

it would be easier for From to add offline mode just like in DS1 but of course they gotta force you do this sh*t to play offline without affecting achievements or just be able to use internet while playing the game offline lol. good guide for anyone that wants to enjoy the game without dealing with annoying invasions (99% of the time being cheaters lol)

Going offline on Steam will remove achievements from this game. those people don't respect others.

But I don't want to fight, I just wanted to say how valuable this post is. Thanks to the writer.

...And it seems that the method using Outbound Rule is not working in December 2024. I keep trying by looking at various posts but it doesn't work.
