To land a single hit for 250 or more, "...you must use Veredicto..."
This is only true if you're playing the base game without the Mea Culpa DLC. For the DLC, there's a different altarpiece set for Mea Culpa that works better.
As with Veredicto, Mea Culpa must be fully upgraded, and you must use a charged attack. Use Mea Culpa's special ability (same activation as Ruego Al Alba's Blood Pact). Doing it this way, I've hit for as much as 346 on a crit.
The Purified One + Cierzo (+15% fire damage, +25% Elemental damage with full fervor)
- Resonance gives additional elemental attack damage.
The other 6 need not be in any particular configuration:
The Traitor, Castula, Tirso, The Unwavering One, The Thief, and The Thirst.
Easy target: find one of those big guys with the massive maces (I recommend the Miasma variant in Grilles and Ruin).
