The History of the Moonwalk
Before you start doing the moonwalk, its really important to understand the history of the moonwalk

The Moonwalk, famously associated with Michael Jackson, is a dance move that creates the illusion of the dancer sliding backward while appearing to walk forward. It became one of Jackson's signature moves and a significant part of his performances, especially during his live shows.

Contrary to popular belief, the Moonwalk wasn't created by Michael Jackson. Its origins can be traced back to various sources in African American dance culture. Some elements of the move can be seen in the performances of dancers like Bill Bailey and Cab Calloway in the 1930s and 1940s.

The Moonwalk as it's recognized today was popularized by Michael Jackson during his performance of "Billie Jean" on the TV special "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" in 1983. (SEE ABOVE)

He mesmerized audiences with the fluidity and precision of the move, catapulting it into the mainstream and forever associating it with his name.

Jackson's flawless execution of the Moonwalk sparked immense interest and made it an iconic dance move. However, Jackson credited street dancers and friends Jeffrey Daniel and Casper Candidate for teaching him the technique behind the move. Jeffrey Daniel had previously performed the move on the British TV show "Top of the Pops" as a member of the group Shalamar. (NOT SEEN HERE)

The Moonwalk's integration into Michael Jackson's performances, especially during his "Bad" and "Dangerous" tours, solidified its status as an emblematic part of his dance repertoire. Its impact extended beyond the stage, influencing popular culture and inspiring countless dancers and performers worldwide.

Despite its origins predating Michael Jackson's use of it, he undeniably popularized and refined the Moonwalk, elevating it to an iconic status in the realm of dance and entertainment.
How to perform the Moonwalk

As you can see in the video compilation, This historical dance move has often been repeated throughout the ages by many various celebrities. But don't' need to be at this level of social status, You can perform this move just efficiently as Michael Jackson himself. So yo perform this highly charismatic move. You would have to consider the following steps

Positioning: Start with your feet together, weight on the balls of your feet. Your body should be upright, and your arms can hang loosely by your sides or be used for balance.

Slide Back: Lift your right foot slightly and place it behind you, resting on the ball of your foot. Apply a bit of pressure to your right foot while keeping your left foot in place.

Shift Weight: Shift your weight onto your right foot while simultaneously sliding your left foot back, also resting on the ball of your foot. Your left foot should move smoothly backward on the ground, creating the illusion of gliding.

Repeat: Continue this motion, alternating between each foot, allowing the heel of the foot in the back to slide on the ground while the front foot's toes remain on the floor.

Practice:
It takes practice to achieve the smoothness and illusion of the Moonwalk. Focus on keeping your movements controlled and balanced to create the sliding effect.

But all of the advice above you can just simply ignore because to perform this move. You don't have to do any of that! Instead, all you have to do is be anywhere in the game where you have full control of movement with Rebecca. Its hard to believe but I reckon you can do it.

How to make Rebecca do the Moonwalk in the game

When you start walking, quickly strafe to the left or right and as soon as you've begun to move. Hold whatever button you need to reverse. It might take a bit of practice but the best way to be sure if you're doing it is simply look down at your feet while attempting.

you will observe that if you've done it correctly. Rebecca will appear to be walking forwards in motion but instead she will be moving backwards! JUST LIKE THE MOONWALK!

If you simply walk backwards without the short strafe, it just wont work and you will notice you have not harnessed the magic of Michael Jackson. This is because walking backwards is different the moonwalk.

For me, Im using the Keyboard so the default movement is set with the classic "WASD Cluster" movement. So if I was going to strafe to the right first, I'd press the 'D' button and then as soon as I've moved just a lil bit, quickly hold down 'S' .

Its really important to hold the backwards walking first before you left go of the strafe button. So make sure you start walking backwards first before you let go of the 'D' button

with Practice, you will be able to perform this move with no problems or struggles.

Pros and Cons of The Moonwalk
PROS

  • Visual Impact: The Moonwalk creates a visually stunning illusion of gliding or walking backward while appearing to move forward. This visual appeal can captivate demons attempt to haunt you and maybe even Raymond might happen to be a bit more nicer to you if he's like, secretly watching or something...

  • Unique Style: Incorporating the Moonwalk into your work routine can add a unique and distinctive flair, as well as reduce your stress, improve your well being and handle your work a lot better.

  • Versatility: It can be adapted to various music genres and dance styles, So if you are someone who likes to play different music to ease the tension of the game. You might be able to mix it in while playing.

CONS

  • Doesn't really do anything: Its true. It doesn't actually do anything. Demons don't really care if you're moonwalking. In fact, I tried to do when one of the bodies got up and went for a walk in the dark and they didn't even say anything like "Wow, that's a sweet dance move, how did you do that?" like every other time when I perform it somewhere in RL...

  • No one is actually watching: Yeah, As much as its there to perform in front of audiences or your friends. Rebecca currently doesn't have any friends here at work, so when performing this move, even if you pull it off REALLY well, No one is really going to believe you because no one is there to witness it.

  • Could just be an oversight by the developer and I'm just looking too much into it: I mean, it's possible but I doubt it. I think Rebecca is blessed with the move, and I like to think that maybe someone in the family did the autopsy on Michael Jackson back in June 2009
