Fix Lag & Audio (2022+ & Video)

Most people downloading Mini Ninjas on modern PC's are going to run into a Lot of problems with the game from Audio missing, Glitching to the game Lagging, Micro-lag & etc...

I created a guide to help fix this issue quickly thanks to the help of some people with in the mini ninjas community on Steam. (Sorry, I can't remember the usernames of the people that found these fixes for me.)

Step 1 - Audio Fix

Audio is a big problem that you notice soon as you start the game. For this follow these steps:

Go to the Downloads on Openal's Webpage and download Openal 1.1 Installer.
Link: https://www.openal.org/downloads/

Next is to unzip it and install it. The install can be fast and may have not looked like it done much but it's installed nonetheless.

After, You can start the game and the audio should be fixed.

(If it's not fixed, Add a comment and I or someone else can try and help your issue.)

Step 2 - Lag, Micro-Stutter, etc (Engine Fix)

For this fix we are just adding a new game engine that directly translates DirectX 9 into its own engine and increase performance. (I think that's what vulkan does, If not please explain in the description as I would like to know the specifics.)

Go to Doitsujin's Github for Dxvk (Vulkan), Look for Releases on the right of the page and install the .tar.gz file. (Your going to need 7-zip or Winrar for this.) (.tar.gz is Linux extension but we can still use the files on windows.)

Once installed, Open your Mini Ninjas Main folder (The one with ninja.exe), Right-click>Browse Local Files.

Then Open the dxvk folder, open x32 (as Mini Ninjas is a 32-bit game) and copy the d3d9.dll into mini ninjas main folder (Again, The folder with ninjas.exe inside)

Once that's done, The game is now running Vulkan and it will be fixed.

Edit (07/08/2022):
So everyone that's found this Gude both on YouTube and Here have said this has 95% fixed this for them but I'm the only one with the Smoothest fps with no stutter. After buying a New GPU this still works for me. As to the reason of only my game being lag free, I think one of the fixes I done to my game, that i thought didn't work, Started to work after changing the game to Vulkan.

This isn't Tested by another to confirm but i ask everyone to at least try this.

Download this and Run the .exe inside your Mini Ninjas Folder:

It Patches the game and, I think, Locks the game from the HID crap. Again, I encourage everyone to try this after patching vulkan and adding a comment if it worked.

Does anybody know what type of problem my is ?
When im running game its just freezing , like 30 secs on repeat with 1-2 seconds dont freeze...

@playergamma Thanks for this, Swapped to linux last year so this is good to keep. That now make this game the second game i own that requires protrontricks XD

To fix in Linux/(probably)SteamDeck and SteamOs you must:
1. install ProtonTricks
2. run the command "protontricks 35000 openal"
The "35000" is the game id, you can check it by right-click the game on steam, click on "Properties" and click in "Updates"

@kykai3212 move it into the same folder as the games EXE and run it, it will create a new game exe with the modifications to how it interacts with the HID controller. You'll be good from their on, my friend.

So about that download where it locks the game from the HID, i downloaded it so now what? What do i do with the file like move it in to the mini ninjas folder in my local files but where?

it's funny that I just ditched bazzite linux because win 11 has better compatibility, only to find that the game runs there no problem, but natively on windows,it's broken. I guess this game will stay a steamdeck game for now.

thanks so much for this! if you have an ASUS Motherboard though you have to use the exe patcher and not vulkan as it won't work. :)

made sure you used the x86 (x32) folder and d3d9.dll their in the root of Mini ninjas were the games .exe is?
