How to save everyone

You can choose different options than the ones highlighted below and still have everybody survive the night, as there are a lot of different decisions that only add slight variations to the story.

Prologue

Laura

While speaking with the sheriff, pick the 'honest', 'friendly', and 'compliant' options
Help Max when he gets hurt in the storm cellar

Chapter 1

Jacob

Pick up Emma's bracelet by the wooden fence
Do not agree to break the fuel line of the minivan

Abigail

Break into the cabin with Emma
Pick up the teddy on the right-hand side of the cabin and choose to keep it
Choose the scenic route while in the cart with Emma

Dylan

Nudge Nick
Choose the 'friendly', 'supportive', and 'understanding' dialogue options while talking with the group

Ryan

When back with the group, pick the 'compliant', 'insistent', 'supportive' and 'reluctant' dialogue options

Chapter 2

Emma

Grab the shotgun in the general store
Take the fireworks or Emma can get infected later

Dylan

Don't go down the hatch
Interact with the shotgun

Nick

Go down the Rocky Road if you want to get a Tarot Card

Ryan

Pick 'dare' as Ryan if you want him to kiss either Dylan or Kaitlyn

Chapter 3

Abigail

When the creature attacks, help Nick, then run, and successfully hold your breath until the creature leaves

Ryan

You can take the shortcut or the main path, but don't fail any QTE's, as you need to arrive in time to see the hunter with Nick and pick up a key item that can save Ryan's life later.
You have to SHOUT at the hunter and then SHOOT the hunter.

Jacob

After Jacob gets trapped don't throw the dirt

Chapter 4

Ryan

Don't shoot either time when you hear a noise in the woods, this will result in Jacob dying

Emma

In the treehouse, make sure you search the bags before opening the trap door or Emma will die
Don't fail any QTE's or Emma can get infected
Taser the creature
Run to the trapdoor when the option comes up

Dylan

Give the gun to Kaitlyn

Emma

Make sure to reel the zipline slowly and don't speed up (fail the QTEs), as this can result in Emma dying

Chapter 5

Kaitlyn

Don't fail the QTEs
Successfully hold breath

Nick

Hide
Successfully hold breath

Ryan

At the radio cabin, don't shoot at the roof when you hear the creature
Do not cut Dylan's arm and let him get infected

Chapter 6

Jacob

Don't fail any QTE's
Hide and successfully hold breath
Pry open or Jacob can die from falling over

Kaitlyn

Intervene when Nick gets too close to Abigail
Help Nick out of the water

Abigail

Choose any dialogue options you want, but make sure you shoot Nick after he throws her across the room, or Abigail will die

Emma

Don't run
Pick up the leftover fireworks from the camp or Emma can get infected later

Chapter 7

Laura

When speaking with the sheriff, be 'compliant', 'intrigued', 'pleading', and don't lash out
Pick up the spoon above the bed and use it on the brick under the window
When speaking with the sheriff again, choose all the compliant options
When exploring outside of the cell, pick up the syringe from an office up the stairs and hide it behind the brick in Laura's cell
The sheriff will come back to talk later, and you should be 'honest', 'confident', 'encouraging', and don't take his gun
Don't fail the QTE event when knocking out the sheriff with the syringe

Chapter 8

Ryan

Stop Laura from shooting the creature or Nick will die
Help Jacob by choosing Breaker 1 and 2 the first time, and Breaker 2 and 3 the second time - if you don't do this Jacob will die later

Chapter 9

Laura

While struggling with Constance don't do the QTE event or Constance will die

Ryan

Don't pull the knife
Check the door to the right of the bed then the door to the left of the bed
Hide in the cabinet and successfully hold your breath

Laura

Choose to run
Jedediah will come through a door later - don't attack him and choose 'run' if don't want him to die

Ryan

Don't choose the stab prompt or Bobby will die later
You need to allow Laura to infect you or Ryan will die later

Dylan

Pick 'warn Kaitlyn' in the crane
Fail the QTEs to drop the car on the monster, Kaitlyn will get infected but that is fine

Abigail

Pick up the silver bullets by the fuse box or Kaitlyn could die later

Ryan

You must shoot the monster or Ryan will die

Chapter 10

Max

It's important to choose 'Stay' or Max will die

Kaitlyn

When the creature appears, choose to run every time before entering the kitchen
Don't fail any QTEs
Choose to cross the beam, not go out the window
Pick 'investigate' to get the silver bullets and shoot the monster to make sure Kaitlyn doesn't die, or head into the kitchen with Dylan and use the toy Abigail took at the beginning of the game as a decoy to trap the creature in the freezer

Laura

Don't fail the QTEs in the car
Don't take the sheriff's gun
Give the blood to Ryan
Immediately shoot Silas when prompted or Laura and the sheriff will die

Hey can you edit the part where it says "hesitate the first time" as it's very fucking vague, just say, immediately shoot Silas when prompted.

It's actually a better option to not cut off Dylan's hand: letting him become infected instantly ensures his survival, and he never comes back to attack you as a werewolf, so there's no downside.

Same thing at the scrapyard: if you fail the QTE to drop the car on Silas, Kaitlyn will be bitten and you can just let Caleb catch a her in Chapter 10: he won't kill her because she's infected, and he'll survive as well because he's not trapped in the freezer when you kill Silas.

For those WTFing in 2023 still over chapter 3, as Ryan you have to SHOUT at the hunter and then SHOOT the hunter

Most of it very helpful but if i take it seriously is the guide not correct since that with this guide will still Caleb die.

Oh and i dont agree to the decision in Chapter 1 to break the fuel line with Jakob. Cause this means u will not be able to find the evidence in Chapter 3. Which is necessary to get the "true ending".

You can just shoot Silas the first time after you raise the gun. Purposely getting Kaitlyn infected in the scrapyard by failing the QTE to drop the car on Silas this will ensure she survives and doesn't kill Caleb. Do the same as the guide however instead of hiding in the kitchen investigate the door. When given the choice to shoot Caleb don't. Since Kaitlyn is infected Caleb will not kill her, even though there is a bug that a scene will play that Dylan will come out of the kitchen armed with a frying pan and see a dead Kaitlyn. She is not dead. Since you kill Silas Caleb and Kaitlyn will be cured.If you kill Silas and Caleb is in the freezer he will die every time. You can get the "Rough Night: acheivement alongside the "Blood Pact" acheivement. The "Blood Pact" achievement requires that all playable characters get bitten, they do not need to remain cursed in the end. Abi infected if you fail the don't breath prompt while fleeing from the scene were Nick gets bitten.
