Remastered New Human Portraits

Beskrivelse
Updated for version 3.4 +

The primary human race is using the new human portraits and have 30 portraits replacing the standard ones.

The secondary human race are using the old portraits from before 3.4 as base and have 70 portraits that replace the standard ones.

Put this mod after the clothing mods in the modlist.

They use the standard animations and alpha mask from the original portraits so they should be compatible with clothing and hair mods as long as they don't change or replace the characters.

This mod only changes the characters face and body and does not add any clothing and/or hair.

The mod is achievements compatible as well as save game compatible.

The mod shouldn't change the version number of the game so it should work with multiplayer without everyone needing the mod.

If you don't like the new portraits. the standard version with 70 portraits based on the old human portraits can be found here: Remastered Human Portraits

There is also a version of the mod that combines the new and old Remastered portraits mods for a total of 100 portraits: Remastered Human Portraits COMBINED

Well, my computer was broken for a few weeks so I wasn't able to play Stellaris 3.4.5 for a while. It finally got fixed today, so I hoped I could finally resume my game from before the update after so long, and it turns out I'm still having problems related to the two different human species. It seems this mod isn't properly swapping their order of positions in the species creation tab, and thus on 3.4.5 both mods are basically identical, and thus broken for my game. (They're both following the order the portraits are placed in version 3.5, which I am not playing as it changes too much balance at this point.)

@John McCreedy I see. Thanks for the information.

Nope. How in the world would I have the local mod, you're the author not me? As I said, it's limited only to when you create a new race and since that's not an every day occurrence who cares? It was an FYI only.

Baldness is fixed now. Sorry it took so long. Haven't played any games in a few months so I hadn't noticed the comments. Continuing with the other mods.

@High Ground Thanks for the fix. Saved me time looking for the issue. :cozybethesda:

@John McCreedy Either you have both a local mod with the same name and are subscribed to the mod at the same time or the portraits are made with the reversed order of the new and old character portraits in which case you should try the Remastered Human portraits mod instead. The only difference between the mods is what order the new and old portraits are in.

The reason it was changed was because they changed how portraits work in Toxoids. They now use the same assets to produce a range of styles. There was a dev video on it. Also as a point of note to the mod author, the fix outlined is not complete, it's a sticking plaster. The new portraits are still without hair in the civilization creation screen. The main pic displays correctly but the animated thumbnail does not.

Toxoid DLC update 3.5.1 broke the hair selection by changing the word "hair" to "attachment" for some unknown, illogical, reason -_-

THE DIY FIX:

Default Steam Workshop file path of the portrait file we need to edit:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\2808669452\gfx\portraits\portraits

1) Right-click on the file "07_portraits_human"

2) Edit with Notepad++ (google for download AND do not use windows' notepad!!!) or if you have windows 11 use note pad.

3)[Ctrl + F] to find all the "hair_selector" words and replace with "attachment_selector" in one go, then save.

4) Enjoy! Ps. Same fix applies to other SE mods eg. SE Humanoid, created by by MnCnN. May he/ she be at peace for making this awesome mod! <3

Reposting this with an edit: I'm not a modder nor the OG author and thus cannot upload an edited file :( Just know a thing or 2 about basic modding and shared the fix. PEACE!
