Animated Galatean Species

Galateans woke up one day not knowing what or who they were, where they'd come from, or what came before them. Scientists and philosophers are not sure what to make of this 'awakening', wether or not if they were created by an alien species, created by the stars or gods themselves, or just had a planet-wide amnesic event.
Quickly after their awakening they spread across the planet, society and a global civilization rapidly developing as they expanded. As their civilization grew, so did their love for comfort and pleasure. Food, art, pleasure, and chemical bliss flourished exponentially around the planet.

Galateans live to spread pleasure and joy. They love meeting new species, intermingling and trying to learn all about their society, and try to help them to experience as much joy as possible. Many Galateans have permanently left their home world to intermingle on alien worlds, always excited to see the next corner.
Biologically, they are nothing special. Their large single eye give them quite bad depth-perception and makes them short-sighted compared to species who have more eyes. Their appearance is similar to humanoid females, but they are in fact hermaphroditic in nature, able to switch roles if need be.
